SUMMARY:Hollywood Lighting Workshop in the Style of George Hurrell with Bobbi Lane and Lee Varis
DESCRIPTION:Join photographers Bobbi Lane and Lee Varis in conjunction with Hunt’s Photo Education for a unique portrait workshop experience. \nThis weekend workshop provides a hands-on experience learning Hollywood style lighting\, posing and studio workflow. Work in the studio with male and female models to re-create the classic glamour photography of the 1930’s and 40’s under the expert guidance of Bobbi and Lee. The famous Hollywood photographer George Hurrell rented Bobbi Lane’s studio for the last 10 years of his life\, and this provided Bobbi with an unprecedented opportunity to learn from the master himself—Bobbi shares this first hand knowledge with participants in two fun-filled days. Learn to work with modern studio lights to get the highly stylized look of the classic Hollywood glamour without requiring the use of old fashioned clumsy “hot lights” The afternoon of the 2nd day will be used for post-processing instruction by Lee Varis. Lee demonstrates how to use Lightroom and Photoshop to create the classic B&W glamour imagery\, including various retouching techniques for enhancing portraits. \nFor someone looking to expand their portfolio or learn advanced techniques in lighting\, posing\, and directing\, look no further than this workshop. Please note: This course is not a “basics” course and is designed with Intermediate and Advanced Photographers in mind.  \nUpon successful completion of this workshop\, participants will leave with a foundation of technical and artistic skills necessary to achieve the look of classic Hollywood glamour photography. Topics covered include: \n\nBasics of studio photo workflow\nLighting theory and electronic flash basics\nBasic lighting setups\nAdvanced lighting concepts\nStyling and posing for glamour\n\nWorkshop Overview\nDay 1\n9 am: Class overview\, student intros\, image presentation\, lighting demos.\n12pm: Break for lunch\n12:30pm: Models arrive.\n12:30-5:30pm: Students photograph a variety of models in two setups. DESCRIPTION:Join Ron Phillips of Hunt’s Photo Education as we explore Horn Pond’s 102-acre body of water along the Aberjona River in Woburn\, Massachusetts. On this walk\, we will emphasize landscape\, wildlife\, and macro photography\, all in the beautiful Winter\, as we encounter birds\, flowers and more! We will work on creative imagery\, utilizing the color of the season\, but also discuss black & white photography and techniques such as panning & zooming to create a dramatic and fine art effect. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend! \nHorn Pond is a wonderfully scenic area\, offering many outdoor activities such as hiking and bike riding. These same trails are an excellent place to explore many types of photographic opportunities\, emphasizing nature\, landscape\, and macro. On many of our walks\, the quality of day can positively or negatively affect how our images turn out. On this walk\, we will emphasize making the best out of any situation\, whether cloudy\, sunny or rainy (well\, not too rainy). Bring your creative thoughts! \nWe recommend having both a standard zoom lens and telephoto zoom lens\, preferably one that will go to 200mm or above. \nPlease note: There will be a good amount of walking on this Photo Walk.
