Home to Africa’s greatest population of lions\, densest population of large mammals\, the legendary Great Migration\, and much more\, it has become a world renowned destination for wildlife photographers and travelers generally. \nWith incredible swaths of land dedicated to national parks\, travelers can enjoy the wilderness to its fullest – close to wildlife and away from tourist traffic. Hunt’s Photo Adventures is partnering with Thomson Safaris – a 36-year-old Tanzania safari company – to see it all. SUMMARY:Hollywood Lighting Workshop in the Style of George Hurrell with Bobbi Lane and Lee Varis
DESCRIPTION:Join photographers Bobbi Lane and Lee Varis in conjunction with Hunt’s Photo Education for a unique portrait workshop experience. \nThis weekend workshop provides a hands-on experience learning Hollywood style lighting\, posing and studio workflow. Work in the studio with male and female models to re-create the classic glamour photography of the 1930’s and 40’s under the expert guidance of Bobbi and Lee. The famous Hollywood photographer George Hurrell rented Bobbi Lane’s studio for the last 10 years of his life\, and this provided Bobbi with an unprecedented opportunity to learn from the master himself—Bobbi shares this first hand knowledge with participants in two fun-filled days. Learn to work with modern studio lights to get the highly stylized look of the classic Hollywood glamour without requiring the use of old fashioned clumsy “hot lights” The afternoon of the 2nd day will be used for post-processing instruction by Lee Varis. Lee demonstrates how to use Lightroom and Photoshop to create the classic B&W glamour imagery\, including various retouching techniques for enhancing portraits. \nFor someone looking to expand their portfolio or learn advanced techniques in lighting\, posing\, and directing\, look no further than this workshop. Please note: This course is not a “basics” course and is designed with Intermediate and Advanced Photographers in mind.  \nUpon successful completion of this workshop\, participants will leave with a foundation of technical and artistic skills necessary to achieve the look of classic Hollywood glamour photography. Topics covered include: \n\nBasics of studio photo workflow\nLighting theory and electronic flash basics\nBasic lighting setups\nAdvanced lighting concepts\nStyling and posing for glamour\n\nWorkshop Overview\nDay 1\n9 am: Class overview\, student intros\, image presentation\, lighting demos.\n12pm: Break for lunch\n12:30pm: Models arrive.\n12:30-5:30pm: Students photograph a variety of models in two setups. Hunt’s Photo\, Melrose has two classrooms\, one medium sized classroom and one small-sized classroom that has been converted into a Cyclorama Room. We will utilize both.\n5:30pm: Wrap up discussion. \nDay 2\n9am: Reconvene. Discuss results from prior day.\n9:30am: Models arrive.\n10am-3pm: Students continue to photograph models.\n3pm: Post-processing with Lee\, who will touch upon Lightroom editing and retouching.\n5pm: Wrap up discussion. \nStudents must be familiar with their cameras and lenses and basic photography technique.  \nA medium telephoto lens is suggested\, ranging from 50mm to 120mm. He is a Master of all things Adobe\, and has been an Adobe Community Professional and Influencer since 2008.\nBobbi is an award-winning commercial photographer specializing in creative portraits on location and in studio. Her multi-faceted approach to photography incorporates over 35 years of technical experience with innovative artistic interpretation. She primarily shoots people on location for editorial\, corporate\, and advertising accounts\, as well as photographing “real people” and travel for stock. As a dedicated photo educator\, she brings insight and enthusiasm to her students in workshops held worldwide. She is known for teaching lighting techniques for portraits\, both natural and flash\, and also for leading photo travel workshops. As an author she has written two books\, a wide variety of magazine articles\, has recorded multiple videos on lighting\, portraiture and posing\, and teaches online classes.
