SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Emerging Series- The North End in Black & White
DESCRIPTION:Walk Description\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a photo walk in the historic North End of Boston. During the walk\, we will discuss shooting in lower light with an emphasis on black and white photography. This will include assistance with exposure\, composition\, focusing\, use of tripods\, and a myriad of other settings and concepts.\nBoston is often referred to as a “city of neighborhoods”. One of the city’s most notable neighborhoods\, and its oldest\, is the North End. Beginning in the 1600s this is where immigrants to the New World entered the city for the first time\, which made the North End a busy\, vibrant center of activity. Today\, this tightly knit area is known as “Little Italy” given the prominent Italian-American influence and population found here. Quaint eateries\, fine restaurants\, and historic locations are characteristics that make the North End one of Boston’s premier destinations. \nThis walk is also an excellent chance to work on street photography. During the first few hours\, our light will start to change\, giving us some excellent opportunities at casual portraits and street scenes. As we move into more of the nighttime light\, we will shift to long exposures. Join us for this very diverse photo walk! \nEmerging Series- A Guideline for Photo Walks during the era of COVID-19\nAs the COVID lockdown ends and social restrictions begin to ease\, we have decided to start offering our popular Hunt’s Photo Walks again.\nHunt’s Photo Education remains dedicated to the health and safety of every single attendee\, student\, and customer\, first and foremost. We also are committed to the best possible learning experience. We have put forth rules and guidelines for Photo Walks that occur during the era of COVID.\n•We will have no more than 6-8 attendees per Photo Walk with a single instructor\n•We ask that all attendees wear a mask. (Please make sure the mask covers your mouth and nose.)\n•We ask that all attendees socially distance 6 feet from one another\, unless you are attending with the other person\n•Hunt’s Photo Educators will be unable to physically handle others’ cameras\n•Consider bringing sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer\n•If you are sick or feeling unwell\, stay home! SUMMARY:Online: Image Review/Critique- Food Photography
DESCRIPTION:Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nThere is so much to think about in photography– from settings and composition to editing and post processing and so much more– that it can be easy to get lost within your images. Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a chance to discuss one of your images in a review and critique session\, where we will discuss many of these topics and how they work in your image. Our Hunt’s Photo Education Team firmly believes that presenting personal work and observing peer work is paramount to the growth and development of your photographic vision. \nThis Week’s Topic\nFor this week’s topic\, all attendees will submit an image for review or critique of food! Photographing food is a challenging endeavor that requires a knowledge of photography\, of food\, and the patience to not snack on what you’re photographing! During the review and critique\, we will discuss numerous topics\, such as image composition\, exposure\, focus\, and all the settings associated with the image. Is the food appetizing or not? (Is it supposed to be?) Are color and exposure correct? We will figure all of this out during the class! You are welcome to edit the image you submit or leave it unedited.\nIf you are editing exporting from Lightroom or Capture One\, we ask that you export the image as a DNG\, or save the RAW file with a XMP sidecar file so that we can reedit the image\, if need be. (If you’re unsure what a DNG file is\, watch this short video about exporting as DNG. And if you cannot save the file in either formats and choose to submit an edited photo\, please submit an edited and unedited version so we can reedit\, if need be.)\nWe encourage photographers of all levels to consider this course\, as it is as valuable to seasoned professional as it is to a beginner! \nThis class will be a small group of up to 10-15 attendees. Upon registering\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include a link in order to upload images to us for the image review. We will also send out a reminder email a few days prior. Make sure to leave yourself enough time to upload your photo! \nJoin us for this exciting opportunity to share your photographic work with the community! \nRegarding uploading of images\nFor this critique\, we ask that you export a DNG from Lightroom/Capture One or save as the original RAW with the XMP sidecar file. DNG is a RAW format that also embeds in all the changes you have made previously to the image! Since it’s RAW\, we can still make “lossless” changes to the DNG file\, so that’s very helpful. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \nLayout of the class\nOur course layout is simple. This course will last about 2 hours\, depending on quantity of attendees. During that time\, all attendees will be muted. When we critique your image\, we will unmute you\, so please have a working microphone on your computer/tablet.\nDuring the class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Chat box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end. \n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this\, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic.
