Sturbridge Village is a living history museum that features many authentic period buildings and homes to explore and enjoy. The village is also inhabited by re-enactors who provide colorful insight to life in New England during the 18th century. Sturbridge Village is a wonderful destination for a multitude of photographic opportunities as well as a glimpse into a bygone era. \nOlde Sturbridge Village is perhaps one of the best places to have both a Photo Workshop and a class. There’s a little bit of everything at this living history museum\, from macro and closeup with fine details to architecture\, from portraits to landscapes. We will photograph both indoors and outdoors\, in regular light as well as very low light. We will discuss how to work with subjects to create a story\, and also work on settings to fine-tune focus and exposure! Most importantly\, we will emphasize shooting all of these subjects in glorious black & white. Our goal is to think in black & white using a few simple concepts\, which we will discuss in our presentation leading into the class.\nThis Photo Walk is one of the best opportunities to build your photographic knowledge\, no matter what level. This walk is equally as beneficial as a first walk or a twentieth walk\, as the area has so much to offer! Most importantly\, because this is a multi-day workshop\, we will be able to spend more time working with our subject matter and discussing what works. \nWe will begin on Friday with an online presentation discussing Sturbridge Village and photographing in black & white. Because this is online\, you will not need to be in Sturbridge for this portion of the workshop. We will then meet the following morning at Sturbridge Village and work in the village for the day.\nIf you are not local to the area\, there is a hotel nearby that we recommend staying at\, listed below. The next morning\, we will return to the Village to work further with our subjects. We will then have an image review the following week to discuss photography from the weekend.
