We will fly out to Brooks Falls where the grizzly bears provide plenty of opportunity to capture iconic images as they fish for salmon. After dinner Don Toothaker will help with editing questions\, discussion\, and necessary information for the morning. \nDay 3\nJuly 2\, 2021 \nToday we are heading to black sand beaches of the Bering Sea. Our goal is to photograph walrus\, sea otters\, and caribou. This involves flying in a specialized bush plane on giant tundra tires and landing on the beach. One of the main things that sets this trip apart from any other is the diverse aircraft fleet always at our disposal. Capable of landing on rivers\, lakes\, beaches\, gravel bars and ridge tops. The planes paired with 10 boats\, all set aside for our exclusive use brings an unparalleled access to wildlife and landscape. \nDay 4\nJuly 3\, 2021 \nToday\, we leave early in the morning in float planes for the Katmai coast. The mission for today: photographing bears digging for clams and eating sedge grasses. Here\, it is also common to see a wolf walking the river bank and tidal flats or just napping in the sedge grasses meadows. The entire day is spent with a background of a steaming volcano partly covered by glaciers. For lunch\, you are spoiled by the pilot with a field cooked meal\, consisting of shrimp jambalaya cooked over an open fire. And to fill in the cracks\, hot Dutch oven baked cornbread. A 45-minute flight back to the lodge will fly you low over the glaciers and ice fields of Mount Douglas. And of course\, a hot shower\, Hors d’Oeuvres\, dinner\, and fellowship at the lodge will follow. \nDay 5\nJuly 4\, 2021 \nToday\, we leave the lodge arriving on the Katmai coast\, landing on the beach in a tundra tired wheel plane\, just in time for low tide. The mission for today: photographing bears digging for clams and eating sedge grasses with the glaciers and ice fields of Mount Douglas in the background. Here\, it is also common to see a wolf on or near our secluded beach. Today may require more walking than other days\, because the bears may be spread out along the tidal flats\, or napping in the sedge grasses. On the 40-minute flight back to the lodge we fly low over salt water estuaries and tidal flats. As always hot shower\, Hors d’Oeuvres\, dinner\, and fellowship will follow. \nDay 6\nJuly 6\, 2021 \nToday\, we fly by float planes to Twin Lakes in Lake Clark National Park to view and photograph the Dick Proenneke log cabin. (One Man’s Wilderness). Lots of photo ops while flying over the turquoise water of Lake Clark\, In the high Alpine mountain passes view Dall sheep\, caribou\, and the glaciers of Lake Clark National Park. The plane will touch down on Upper Twin Lake a mere 100 yards from the historic homestead site built by Dick Proenneke. The history is well documented and preserved by the Park Service. You will find no shortage of subjects to keep your camera clicking through the day. On the flight home the pilot a lifelong Alaskan lands at the Dena’ina Gghayi Indian Village population of 32. He has family ties here with the village elders. \nThe Dena’ina Gghayi Clan are a proud independent people that have inhabited the area since the end of the last ice age. Dena’ina live a subsistence life\, based on salmon\, berries\, edible plants\, moose\, birds and the unique fresh water seals that live in the lake. The Denaina coexists with the giant bears that also live here. We tour of the village\, see the traditional smoke house\, and learn the way salmon are prepared. Return to the lodge in time to transfer to Iliamna Airport for our flight back to Anchorage. Arriving in Anchorage by 8:00 PM. \nDay 7\nJuly 7\, 2021 \nFlights home begin depending upon traveler and destination

SUMMARY:Online: Printed Vision Series- Back in Black- Printing Nightscapes
DESCRIPTION:Instructor: Paul Nelson \nBelow the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run.\nAbout The Printed Vision Series\nThe printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product\, which is the purpose behind the Printed Vision Series.\nEach Printed Vision topic will meet for two sessions. In the first session\, we will discuss the topic and elaborate on editing with examples. This will include discussion of exposure\, dynamic range and color\, but also deeper points\, such as noise reduction\, image sharpening and grain. In between sessions 1 and 2\, attendees will independently process 1-2 images and submit them to the instructor for printing. We will print one of the two images leading into the second session and discuss some of the challenges we face in printing them.\nYou do not need to produce a new image for this class and can go into your archives to print\, but you are welcome to go out into the field and create something new based on the topic! \nThis Month’s Printed Vision Session: Printing Nightscapes\nNightscapes can be some of the most beautiful images when printed. They possess not only deep\, rich blacks that shine through on the paper\, but also high levels of contrast and can also present an incredible level of rich color. There’s a lot to be proud of when hanging a Nightscape on our wall!\nIn this session\, we will delve into printing nightscapes\, including different paper options\, what details to look for when choosing an image\, and elements of image processing. Specifically\, we’ll look at details such image sharpening\, noise reduction\, grain\, exposure\, and color management. Our instructional online presentation will be held on July 7th from 7-8pm and we will reconvene for our Printed Image Review on July 21st from 7-8:30pm. You will have that time period in between to photograph and/or edit your images. In the end\, you will receive a 12×18″ print on fine art paper. (Please note: The cost of a 12×18 or 13×19 print on fine art paper is $35-$40; the cost of this class includes the cost of that print!)\nThe Printed Vision classes are an excellent opportunity to learn more about not only about printing\, but also the processing of images at a much more focused level. Recommended for everyone: Beginners to Advanced Photographers. Come join us for a lot of fun! \nReceiving Your Print\nAfter the class\, your print can either be mailed to you or picked up at one of our Hunt’s Photo store locations. \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. \nRegister here\n***Having trouble registering? You can also register by clicking here! \n \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.
