Following in the footsteps of Ansel Adams\, he mostly photographed people (children\, portraits\, weddings\, seniors\, etc.)\, which paid the bills. Over time\, he became interested in photographing wildlife and landscapes\, mostly for personal pleasure. In 1999\, he was asked to become a “Stringer” for Canon USA and has been in that position since then. It has led Robert towards teaching\, leading workshops and sharing his life-long passion with others. He always looks forward to sharing his knowledge of photography with those who are anxious to learn. \nJeff Swinger boasts nearly 30 years of professional experience built upon his passion for telling stories through images. He honed his skills over 16 years with The Cincinnati Enquirer covering news and sports and has covered four Olympic Games for USA Today Sports. Additionally\, Jeff works as an educational contributor and freelance Pro Market Representative for Canon USA and travels domestically and internationally conducting photo tours and workshops. Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a week-long photography program aimed at strengthening their interest\, improving their photography\, and getting them truly excited about being the artist\, the creator\, and the family photographer! \nOver the course of five days\, we will cover a wide range of topics\, from composition & perspective to depth of field & movement. Every day we’ll have a brief introduction to a topic followed by a fun practical exercise. Our goal is to get your photographers outside and taking pictures as much as possible! (Inside on snowy and cold days\, too.) At the end of the day\, we’ll look back on the images to see what we liked about them. And at the end of the week\, we’ll print and display images from all of our students in our Hunt’s Photo Gallery for all to see. \nOur goal in this program is to have a lot of fun and not bog students down with too much technical stuff. However\, we will also scaffold instruction\, so if an attendee wants to know more about the technical aspects\, they still can! \nStudents will be required to have some kind of camera. This can be a cell phone\, a point and shoot camera\, or a DSLR/mirrorless camera. Pretty much any digital camera that works is acceptable! \nThis will be a fun week with experienced instruction. We look forward to seeing you there! \n*A few notes about our recommended age requirements*\nOur age requirement is very general. A certain maturity level is helpful. Younger children with interest and a level of responsibility are welcome to attend. As we mention\, we will scaffold instruction for any age range.\nAll parents/guardians will need to sign off on a permission to attend this course upon signup. Our classes will be held in our Hunt’s Photo\, Melrose store and classroom\, and surrounding outdoor areas\, including Pine Banks Park. We assure you that your student will be in a safe and fun environment. If you have any questions\, please feel free to contact us at classes@huntsphoto.com. \nPlease Note: A Slight Change to COVID-19 Policies on Masks and Social Distancing\nUntil further notice\, we will be requiring masks for our indoor classes. We also ask that you socially distance whenever possible.\nAs always\, if you are sick or feeling unwell\, STAY HOME! We will gladly give you a credit towards a future class. \nRegister here\nPlease make sure to register information under the student’s name.\n***Having trouble registering? SUMMARY:Multi-Session Series- Adobe Lightroom Classic- File Management & Editing- Hunt’s Photo\, Melrose
DESCRIPTION:Thursdays\, February 24th\, March 3rd & 10th\, 6-8pm \nIn this course\, we use specifically Adobe Lightroom Classic. (See below for more information.) \nRecommended prerequisite: A basic knowledge of computers and how to organize photos helps. Lightroom can be a challenging program. Patience is a virtue. \nInstructor: Rebecca Wade \nClass Size: 6-8 attendees \nCourse Description\nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. How do we organize our photos? What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a course that helps answer many of these questions. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nThis is a Multi-Session Class! In Week 1\, we will begin by discussing how to organize your images for quick retrieval via keywords\, ratings\, and more\, as well as giving a description on how to consider organizing your photos on your computer. Specifically\, we will cover brief computer file management\, the importance of keywords\, flagging and rating photos\, and searching metadata to find images. In Week 2\, we’ll start with the basic adjustments using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. We’ll then dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. In Week 3\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including local adjustments\, such as radial and graduated filters\, and how to “finish” the image- sharpening\, noise reduction\, and more.\nIn-between each session\, we will give assignments to help you become more proficient and grasp the material! This class is strongly recommended for anyone looking to further their skills with Lightroom! \nAn important note about this course! There are now a few different versions of Adobe Lightroom right now. This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. The other version of Lightroom\, commonly known as “Adobe Lightroom CC” (yes\, we understand you may be confused by this) is a more mobile and cloud-based program. The look and feel of the program is completely different– This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. (See graphic on the right.) If you are unsure\, feel free to email us at classes@huntsphoto.com. Important: If you are taking this course\, make sure to download/update the program in advance\, as you will not be able to download the program at the store. Older versions\, such as Lightroom 5 or 6\, are also acceptable\, though not all functions will be available. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery! \nMastering Manual Mode\nLearning about photography can be a real challenge. There are so many pieces to the puzzle of photography\, some of which use confusing terminology. For this reason\, we often start newcomers off using the Priority Modes because it’s “easier”. In reality\, these priority modes are just a short-term solution. It’s important to fully understand the “why” and “how” of your camera settings\, and learning to master manual is an excellent way to do so. \nThis Multi-Session Series will focus on Mastering Manual Mode. In week 1\, we’ll cover the technical side of aperture\, shutter\, and ISO. We’ll also discuss metering modes\, reading your meter\, and understanding histograms. In week 2\, we’ll learn to control depth of field\, focusing\, and how lens choice affects aperture choice. By week 3\, we’ll discuss how to use shutter speed effectively to either blur your motion or freeze your action. We’ll talk about shooting at night and in low light. We’ll also talk about ISO and how it controls image noise. In week 4\, we’ll put everything together by discussing dynamic range\, white balance\, and how to get the correct exposure in camera every time. We’ll also answer the most important question of all: which change should I make to achieve my desired results? \nEach week Emily will give an assignment to help further the topics covered in that week’s class. Students are encouraged to send in assignments that will be individually critiqued by Emily each week. This is a great opportunity to enhance your exposure skills while getting direct feedback on your week. \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure! During each class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Question box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end. \n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this\, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. If handouts and PDFs are included\, we will send it out with the link for the video. \nNo online classes should be shared and cannot be shared in a public environment\, including with camera clubs\nThe online content is the copyright of Hunt’s Photo Education and/or the Instructor. We appreciate your support\, and it’s thanks to that support that we are able to continue producing content! \nRegister here \n \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.
