SUMMARY:Capture to Print\, ft. Roger Williams Park Zoo
DESCRIPTION:Capture-To-Print is an intermediate workshop that focuses not only on photography\, but also editing and printing! Half photo workshop\, half editing and printing\, we will take you through the whole process–from Capture to Print— to demonstrate what is important in the field\, how to effectively process photos\, and why printing is a necessity.\nWe all want to take excellent quality photos of wild animals in their natural habitat\, but those habitats are not always easily accessible. And when in that situation\, do we have the ability to make those split second decisions on what to do with our camera? Zoos are an excellent opportunity to hone those skills with the real thing. Zoos also provide different challenges\, including fencing\, windows\, and more. If we can overcome those challenges\, the result can be stunning\, especially in print form!\nWe will begin at the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence\, Rhode Island for a morning of photographing the animals\, specifically emphasizing how to set in the field for the best end result\, including focus\, exposure\, and more. At 1pm\, we will break from shooting and make our way back to the classroom at our Providence location. We will reconvene at 2pm. (Attendees are encouraged to get lunch in the meantime.)\nWe will then transition from photographing to editing\, which will include discussion of certain techniques. Attendees are encouraged to bring their computers–laptops or all-in-ones are fine (iMacs are welcome)–in order to do their own editing. Attendees should have Adobe Lightroom and/or Photoshop on their computer or a comparable program. We will be available to help with the processing of images during this time. Shortly after 4pm\, we will view these edits\, critique\, and discuss them with the rest of the class while also creating 13×19″ prints.\nThis will be a fun and challenging workshop that will walk you through the full process of creating a photograph. The process of printing is integral to developing one’s photographic vision.\nPlease note: Your ticket does not include the entrance cost to Roger Williams Park Zoo. Your ticket includes the cost of instruction at the zoo and at Hunt’s Photo Providence\, as well as the print. \n \nApproximate schedule for the day:\n10am- Meet at Roger Williams Park Zoo and photograph the animals.\n1pm- Break for travel and lunch\n2pm- Reconvene at Hunt’s Photo\, Providence. Begin editing.\n4pm- Review\, critique\, and printing \n\nIf you are attending this workshop\, we will send out more specific instructions to you a few days prior to the workshop. Please note: Some slight details above can be subject to change. This email will detail any of those minor changes. \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up. \nAttendees should have: \nDigital Camera and Lens\nMemory Card\nTripod/Monopod \nSuggested Items Attendees should have: \nVarious other lenses\nExtra memory cards\nExtra camera battery\nSnacks\nWater

SUMMARY:Edit to Print: Hunt's Photo\, Holyoke
DESCRIPTION:How do we edit an image to make the best print possible? Which images work for print and which do not? What paper should we print on? How should we edit for each paper? In this roundtable class\, we will work with your images\, discuss and process them\, and discuss the printing process. We ask attendees to bring in three images on a USB drive (RAW\, if possible) that they may want to print. We will review the images and choose one to edit in Adobe Lightroom and then send it to print.\nAttendees are also welcome to bring their laptop to work on the images during class for submission. We will gladly assist on any editing you would like to do.\nAttendees will leave with one print\, 12×18 in size (printed on 13×19 paper) and a bit more knowledge on the process of editing and printing\, not to mention the knowledge of how to take the photograph better in the field for next time.\nThis is a class that you can take as many times as you’d like. Since you’re constantly working with new images\, you’re always working out new challenges!\nIn the class\, we will have a variety of paper options to choose from\, including Moab Fine Art papers. (The cost of an 12×18 or 13×19 print on fine art paper is $35-$40; the cost of this class includes the cost of that print!) \nCome see your images\, printed vibrantly in a large format!

DESCRIPTION:Capture-To-Print is an intermediate workshop that focuses not only on photography\, but also editing and printing! Half photo workshop\, half editing and printing\, we will take you through the whole process–from Capture to Print— to demonstrate what is important in the field\, how to effectively process photos\, and why printing is a necessity. \nOn this version of Capture to Print\, we will have a late afternoon/sunset photo walk covering three of Portland\, Maine’s most photogenic lighthouses. We’ll start at Bug Light Park to photograph the beloved Portland Breakwater Lighthouse\, also known as Bug Light\, before we head a couple of blocks over to Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse\, on the campus of Southern Maine Community College. Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse is also the site of Fort Preble\, a military fort which was in use from 1802 to 1906. We’ll explore the many opportunities this location offers\, and then head another few miles west to Cape Elizabeth to capture the sunset at Portland Head Lighthouse. Portland Head is located on the grounds of Fort Williams Park\, an old military fort dating back to the Spanish American War. We will explore the grounds and various vantage points on the lighthouse\, and end up in one of the classic spots for sunset. \nThe next morning\, we will then transition from photographing to editing.
