There are now a few different versions of Adobe Lightroom right now. This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. The other version of Lightroom\, commonly known as “Adobe Lightroom CC” (yes\, we understand you may be confused by this) is a more mobile and cloud-based program. The look and feel of the program is completely different– This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. (See graphic on the right.) Important: If you are taking this course\, make sure to download/update the program in advance\, as you will not be able to download the program at the store. The first step to creating a great print is by understanding how to create a great photograph in the field.\nCapture-To-Print is an intermediate workshop that focuses not only on photography\, but also editing and printing!  Half photo workshop\, half editing and printing\, we will take you through the whole process–from Capture to Print— to demonstrate what is important in the field\, how to effectively process photos\, and why printing is a necessity. \nAbout this workshop\nRockport is a premiere destination for photographers. The town is an eclectic mix of unique storefronts\, a beautiful harbor\, boats\, and a rich fishing tradition that offers a wide variety of photographic subjects. The town is both vibrant and weathered. Rockport is also one of the best places to have both a Photo Walk and a class. There’s a great variety to photograph in Rockport\, from architecture to scenery\, from portraits to macro\, in Color and in Black & White.  We will also emphasize all of the elements to consider to obtain a truly amazing print in the end! \nAfter the workshop\, attendees will edit their photos on their own and upload 2-3 images to the instructors for review. We will review those edits\, individually discuss your editing choices and make suggestions for additional edits\, then print the images as 12×18″ on fine art paper. We will conclude the workshop the following week with a printed image review. We will hold the review in our Melrose store\, but if you cannot attend this\, you will also be able to watch it online. DESCRIPTION:Recommended prerequisite: \nInstructor: Paul Nelson \nBelow the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run.\nAbout The Printed Vision Series\nThe printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product\, which is the purpose behind the Printed Vision Series.\nEach Printed Vision topic will meet for two sessions. In the first session\, we will discuss the topic and elaborate on editing with examples. This will include discussion of exposure\, dynamic range and color\, but also deeper points\, such as noise reduction\, image sharpening and grain. In between sessions 1 and 2\, attendees will independently process 1-2 images and submit them to the instructor for printing. We will print one of the two images leading into the second session and discuss some of the challenges we face in printing them.\nYou do not need to produce a new image for this class and can go into your archives to print\, but you are welcome to go out into the field and create something new based on the topic! \nThis Month’s Printed Vision Session: Printing in Black & White\nBlack & White printing has an historic place in photography\, as for the past 175 years\, it has been the dominant method of printing and viewing photographs. There are many things to think about when we edit an image for printing in Black & White\, and this course will discuss those many items.\nIn this session\, we will discuss different paper options\, what to look for in the editing process\, and more. Our instructional online presentation will be held on June 8th from 7-8pm and we will reconvene for our Printed Image Review on June 24th from 7-9pm. There are many things to think about when we edit an image for printing in Black & White\, and this course will discuss those many items.\nIn this session\, we will discuss different paper options\, what to look for in the editing process\, and more. Our instructional online presentation will be held on June 8th from 7-8pm and we will reconvene for our Printed Image Review on June 24th from 7-9pm. You will have that time period in between to photograph and/or edit your images. In the end\, you will receive a 12×18″ print on fine art Baryta paper. So many things can be said about printing small: If you can’t make it good small\, you can’t make it good big; printing small presents a wonderful level of intimacy; cards are a way to easily distribute your work\, your passions\, your vision! In this instructor’s mind\, nothing is better than a pristine\, home-printed card.\nThe purpose of this class is twofold: 1- Find an image and workshop it for maximum effect in a printed card and 2- Work with you on how to print. IMPORTANT: In every printed vision class\, we print images. Usually\, it’s a large scale print\, but here we will be printing cards. Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a course that helps answer many of these questions. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nThis is a Multi-Session Class! In Week 1\, we will begin by discussing how to organize your images for quick retrieval via keywords\, ratings\, and more\, as well as giving a description on how to consider organizing your photos on your computer. Specifically\, we will cover brief computer file management\, the importance of keywords\, flagging and rating photos\, and searching metadata to find images. In Week 2\, we’ll start with the basic adjustments using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. We’ll then dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. In Week 3\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including local adjustments\, such as radial and graduated filters\, and how to “finish” the image- sharpening\, noise reduction\, and more.\nIn-between each session\, we will give assignments to help you become more proficient and grasp the material! This class is strongly recommended for anyone looking to further their skills with Lightroom! \nAn important note about this course! There are now a few different versions of Adobe Lightroom right now. This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. The other version of Lightroom\, commonly known as “Adobe Lightroom CC” (yes\, we understand you may be confused by this) is a more mobile and cloud-based program. The look and feel of the program is completely different– This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. (See graphic on the right.) DESCRIPTION:Recommended prerequisite: \nInstructor: Paul Nelson \nBelow the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run.\nAbout The Printed Vision Series\nThe printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product\, which is the purpose behind the Printed Vision Series.\nEach Printed Vision topic will meet for two sessions. In the first session\, we will discuss the topic and elaborate on editing with examples. This will include discussion of exposure\, dynamic range and color\, but also deeper points\, such as noise reduction\, image sharpening and grain. In between sessions 1 and 2\, attendees will independently process 1-2 images and submit them to the instructor for printing. We will print one of the two images leading into the second session and discuss some of the challenges we face in printing them.\nYou do not need to produce a new image for this class and can go into your archives to print\, but you are welcome to go out into the field and create something new based on the topic! \nThis Month’s Printed Vision Session: Printing in Black & White\nBlack & White printing has an historic place in photography\, as for the past 175 years\, it has been the dominant method of printing and viewing photographs. There are many things to think about when we edit an image for printing in Black & White\, and this course will discuss those many items.\nIn this session\, we will discuss different paper options\, what to look for in the editing process\, and more. Our instructional online presentation will be held on June 8th from 7-8pm and we will reconvene for our Printed Image Review on June 24th from 7-9pm. You will have that time period in between to photograph and/or edit your images. In the end\, you will receive a 12×18″ print on fine art Baryta paper.
