The spellbinding history from the early Caribbean-Spanish explorers to the mid- twentieth century reads like a legendary novel. Life for the Cuban people changed dramatically in the 1960’s. It’s as if the country was placed in a time capsule for fifty years and suddenly emerged\, opening the doors to all who wish to explore. One can certainly feel the complexities of Cuba’s history and the strength of those who call it their home. The music makes you dance and the arts convey the struggles and triumphs. Cuba is absolutely fascinating. \nHunt’s Photo and Don Toothaker want to welcome you to this special photography workshop. We plan to challenge you to slow down\, think\, observe\, anticipate and feel each and every shot. Our days will be full of photographic opportunities\, instruction and discussion as we experience a very unique look into the heart and soul of Cuba. \nYour trip includes:\n•8 days & 7 nights in Havana and Cienfuegos\, Cuba.\n•24/7 Photography coaching\, tips\, tutorials and lessons.\n•Round trip airfare from Miami\, Tampa\, or Fort Lauderdale\, Florida to Havana.\n•Cuban visa processing and fee (There is an additional fee for Cuban born travelers).\n•Medical insurance while visiting Cuba.\n•All airline and airport fees (U.S. & Cuba except baggage & excess weight fees).\n•Ground transportation within Cuba.\n•All accommodations while visiting Cuba (Private Bed & Breakfast with air conditioned rooms and en-suite bathrooms).\n•Entrance fees when applicable.\n•All gratuities are included.\n•Experienced tour guides (English\, Spanish\, Portuguese and French speaking are available).\n•All meals are included (two “mixed” National drinks). Due to the nature of this photography tour\, some lunches may be light and “on the go”. Cuba has no fast food restaurants so we will do our best to keep the photographers happy and well fed while out in the field. Please advise us about any restrictions or food allergies. \nYour trip does not include:\n•Round-trip travel from your home to Miami\, Tampa\, or Fort Lauderdale\, Florida. Please note: If you are coming from the Greater Boston area\, we may be able to fly directly into Havana. However\, this flexibility changes from time to time due to government restrictions. We generally book flights a few months in advance of this trip\, at which point we will establish whether we can or cannot fly out of Boston.\n•Lodging in Miami\, Tampa\, or Fort Lauderdale\, Florida.\n•Baggage fees for overage.\n•Activities outside the tour itinerary.\n•Travel insurance\, which is highly recommended for all travelers.\n•Your passport will be required on this workshop. \nPlease note that this workshop is being coordinated by our travel agency. Because of this\, please note that registration and payment are handled by the agency. Registration and more detailed itinerary information for November 2022 can be found here.

The magnitude and beauty of the Grand Tetons will stay with you forever.\nWe will maximize our time in the field with hands on instruction as well as incorporating group discussion\, classroom instruction\, and image review during the workshop. Once on location we will utilize local transportation to and from each destination. \nWhat’s included:\n•Daily excursions in and around the Grand Tetons and Jackson Hole\n•All Transportation on location\n•In-field instruction at each location\n•Image Discussion and Review \nWhat’s not included:\n•Cost of hotel (Antler Inn\, 43 W. Pearl Ave\, Jackson WY\, 307-733-2535)\n•Transportation to and from Jackson Hole\, Wyoming (Flights are available to Jackson Hole\, but significantly less expensive and more frequent flights are also available to Salt Lake City. For someone that looks for simplicity\, flights still arrive at JAC.\nIf you arriving in SLC and are interested in carpooling with another attendee\, please let us know by emailing classes@huntsphoto.com. We cannot guarantee a carpooling companion\, but we are happy to pass along your information to other attendees.\nWe will be meeting at the hotel at 6pm on the first day. \nHotel information\nWe will be staying at the Antler Inn\, 43 W. The Smokies are renowned for their diversity of nature\, abundant plant and wildlife\, rushing streams\, and ancient mountains. The month of April reveals many beautiful aspects of Spring throughout the park as we explore and pursue a variety of subject matter. In Cades Cove\, we will explore the cultural elements of the mountain people. Along Tremont\, we will expand our creativity by photographing rushing water and quiet landscapes. Throughout the park there is an abundance of wildflowers and wildlife to enjoy. From the top of Clingman’s Dome\, we will capture mountain vista’s that are breathtaking. Each day\, we will work on concepts of Subject Development\, Exposure\, Image Composition\, Architectural Photography\, Black and White Photography\, Low Light Photography\, and Long Exposures. There is nothing quite like the Great Smoky Mountains.\nWe will maximize our time in the field with hands on instruction as well as incorporating group discussion\, classroom instruction\, and image review during the workshop. Once on location\, we will utilize local transportation to and from each destination. \nWhat’s included:\n•Daily excursions in and around locations in Great Smoky Mountain National Park\n•In-field instruction at each location\n•Image Discussion and Review \nWhat’s not included:\n•Air fare and transportation to Gatlinburg\, TN\n•Cost of hotel (We will be staying at the Black Bear Inn in Gatlinburg 865-436-5656)\n•Cost of food\n•Travel insurance (which is highly recommended for all travelers) \nA Note About Traveling to Gatlinburg: It is recommended to fly into McGhee-Tyson airport in Knoxville. Join us for four days of in-field photography and instruction as we search out and photograph one of the herds of wild horses in Utah!\nThis is a unique photography workshop right out of “The Old West”! Wild Horses have occupied this mountainous region of Utah since the late 1800’s. The herd is approximately 200 – 250 horses and is the largest herd of wild horses in the west. Mares and stallions average around 800 to 1000 pounds. The colors within the herd are brown\, bay\, paint\, sorrel\, roan\, buckskin\, black\, palomino\, and gray. The variety is endless due to the frequent breeding within the herd. There are many foal\, yearlings and colts that roam with the herd. The horses are in good condition and are frequently seen in the vicinity of the Pony Express Trail in the valley floor. On this workshop\, we will photograph the wild horses as well as other local scenes and wildlife.\nOn this workshop\, you will want to bring a variety of lenses\, from wide-angle to super-telephoto. The distance to your subjects can vary\, as the horses can be right next to you or far in the distance\, but it is certainly recommended to consider bringing a super-telephoto in the range of 500-600mm. Please keep in mind that you can always rent lenses from Hunt’s Rentals and at a decent cost! \nWe will maximize our time in the field shooting a multitude of subjects as well as incorporating classroom instruction\, critiques\, and photographic assignments each day. \nWhat’s included:\n• Four days of in-field photography and instruction\n• Ground transportation during the 4 days in the field\n• Lunch while in the field (Please advise us of any food restrictions or food allergies)\n• BLM photo workshop permits\n• Experienced workshop leaders\n• Image Discussion and Review Sessions \nWhat’s not included:\n• Air fare or baggage fees to and from Salt Lake City\, Utah\n• Cost of hotel (We will be staying at the Best Western in Tooele\, 435-882-5010)\n• Cost of food (with the exception of lunch in the field)\n• Any activities outside the tour itinerary\n• Travel insurance (which is highly recommended for all travelers) \nSkill Sets: All Levels of Photographers are Welcome\nPhysical Activity: Low \nIn this workshop we will cover: \nExposure\nComposition\nMetering\nUse of Lenses\nSubject Development\nCreative Thinking\nShooting in Low Light\nLong Exposures\nUse of Filters (polarizers and ND)\nImage Processing\nImage Review\nImage Critiquing \nLodging is not included in the cost of this Adventure. Following in the footsteps of Ansel Adams\, he mostly photographed people (children\, portraits\, weddings\, seniors\, etc.)\, which paid the bills. Over time\, he became interested in photographing wildlife and landscapes\, mostly for personal pleasure. In 1999\, he was asked to become a “Stringer” for Canon USA and has been in that position since then. It has led Robert towards teaching\, leading workshops and sharing his life-long passion with others. He always looks forward to sharing his knowledge of photography with those who are anxious to learn. \nJeff Swinger boasts nearly 30 years of professional experience built upon his passion for telling stories through images. He honed his skills over 16 years with The Cincinnati Enquirer covering news and sports and has covered four Olympic Games for USA Today Sports. Additionally\, Jeff works as an educational contributor and freelance Pro Market Representative for Canon USA and travels domestically and internationally conducting photo tours and workshops. Jeff lives with his family in Park City\, Utah.

Next\, everyone is individually fitted with state of the art Gore-Tex waders and wading boots\, all supplied by the lodge. Waders give us the ability to remain perfectly dry sitting on wet tundra or crossings creeks. The gear is lightweight\, comfortable for all-day wear\, and impervious to the weather! After a hearty lunch we will board the lodge’s float planes and our wilderness adventures begin! We will fly out to Brooks Falls where the grizzly bears provide plenty of opportunity to capture iconic images as they fish for salmon. At 7:00 PM we fly back to the lodge where the staff is waiting to serve us dinner. After dinner Don Toothaker will help with editing questions\, discussion\, and necessary information for the morning. \nDay 3\nJuly 2\, 2021 \nToday we are heading to black sand beaches of the Bering Sea. Our goal is to photograph walrus\, sea otters\, and caribou. This involves flying in a specialized bush plane on giant tundra tires and landing on the beach. One of the main things that sets this trip apart from any other is the diverse aircraft fleet always at our disposal. Capable of landing on rivers\, lakes\, beaches\, gravel bars and ridge tops. The planes paired with 10 boats\, all set aside for our exclusive use brings an unparalleled access to wildlife and landscape. \nDay 4\nJuly 3\, 2021 \nToday\, we leave early in the morning in float planes for the Katmai coast. The mission for today: photographing bears digging for clams and eating sedge grasses. Here\, it is also common to see a wolf walking the river bank and tidal flats or just napping in the sedge grasses meadows. The entire day is spent with a background of a steaming volcano partly covered by glaciers. For lunch\, you are spoiled by the pilot with a field cooked meal\, consisting of shrimp jambalaya cooked over an open fire. And to fill in the cracks\, hot Dutch oven baked cornbread. A 45-minute flight back to the lodge will fly you low over the glaciers and ice fields of Mount Douglas. And of course\, a hot shower\, Hors d’Oeuvres\, dinner\, and fellowship at the lodge will follow. \nDay 5\nJuly 4\, 2021 \nToday\, we leave the lodge arriving on the Katmai coast\, landing on the beach in a tundra tired wheel plane\, just in time for low tide. The mission for today: photographing bears digging for clams and eating sedge grasses with the glaciers and ice fields of Mount Douglas in the background. Here\, it is also common to see a wolf on or near our secluded beach. Today may require more walking than other days\, because the bears may be spread out along the tidal flats\, or napping in the sedge grasses. On the 40-minute flight back to the lodge we fly low over salt water estuaries and tidal flats. As always hot shower\, Hors d’Oeuvres\, dinner\, and fellowship will follow. \nDay 6\nJuly 6\, 2021 \nToday\, we fly by float planes to Twin Lakes in Lake Clark National Park to view and photograph the Dick Proenneke log cabin. (One Man’s Wilderness). Lots of photo ops while flying over the turquoise water of Lake Clark\, In the high Alpine mountain passes view Dall sheep\, caribou\, and the glaciers of Lake Clark National Park. The plane will touch down on Upper Twin Lake a mere 100 yards from the historic homestead site built by Dick Proenneke. The history is well documented and preserved by the Park Service. You will find no shortage of subjects to keep your camera clicking through the day. On the flight home the pilot a lifelong Alaskan lands at the Dena’ina Gghayi Indian Village population of 32. He has family ties here with the village elders. \nThe Dena’ina Gghayi Clan are a proud independent people that have inhabited the area since the end of the last ice age. Dena’ina live a subsistence life\, based on salmon\, berries\, edible plants\, moose\, birds and the unique fresh water seals that live in the lake. The Denaina coexists with the giant bears that also live here. We tour of the village\, see the traditional smoke house\, and learn the way salmon are prepared. Return to the lodge in time to transfer to Iliamna Airport for our flight back to Anchorage. Arriving in Anchorage by 8:00 PM. \nDay 7\nJuly 7\, 2021 \nFlights home begin depending upon traveler and destination

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Adventure: Cuba- Real & Raw
DESCRIPTION:Please note: Despite the announcement of travel restrictions to Cuba by our government\, we are happy to report that our trips will be unaffected by these changes. For a brief synopsis\, please click here. \nQuick Link- Registration information for March 2020 can be found here. \nSimply put\, Cuba is like no other place on earth. The spellbinding history from the early Carribean-Spanish explorers to the mid- twentieth century reads like a legendary novel. The ranchers are as rugged as the untouched land and the cigars are worth the trip alone. Cuba is absolutely fascinating. \nHunt’s Photo and Don Toothaker want to welcome guest instructor Erica Robinson to this photography workshop. We plan to challenge you to slow down\, think\, observe\, anticipate and feel each and every shot. Our days will be full of photographic opportunities\, instruction and discussion as we experience a very unique look into the heart and soul of Cuba. \nYour trip includes:\n•8 days & 7 nights in Havana\, Viñales and Trinidad\, Cuba.\n•Optional 3-day\, 2 night extension to Trinidad\n•24/7 Photography coaching\, tips\, tutorials and lessons.\n•Round trip airfare from Miami\, Tampa\, or Fort Lauderdale\, Florida to Havana.\n•Cuban visa processing and fee (There is an additional fee for Cuban born travelers).\n•Medical insurance while visiting Cuba.\n•All airline and airport fees (U.S. \nYour trip does not include:\n•Round-trip travel from your home to Miami\, Tampa\, or Fort Lauderdale\, Florida.\n•Lodging in Miami\, Tampa\, or Fort Lauderdale\, Florida.\n•Baggage fees for overage.\n•Activities outside the tour itinerary.\n•Travel insurance\, which is highly recommended for all travelers. \nYour passport will be required on this workshop. \nPlease note that this workshop is being coordinated by our travel agency.
