SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walks - Sunset (and Light Painting) in Rockport
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education on a late afternoon/sunset walk of Rockport and its harbor\, Bearskin Neck\, and other points of interest. After sunset\, we will continue photographing the areas employing light painting techniques! Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend.\n\nRockport is a premiere destination for photographers. The town is an eclectic mix of unique storefronts\, a beautiful harbor\, boats\, and a rich fishing tradition that offers a wide variety of photographic subjects.\nThis will be a really fun walk! We will begin by photographing around the harbor and capturing sunset. After sunset\, Rockport really shuts down and becomes very dark. In normal circumstances\, this keeps us from photographing because of how little light there is. However\, this will work to our benefit\, as we will move on to teaching light painting techniques for the remaining time. This will be a lot of fun! \n\n\nIf you are attending this walk\, we will send out more specific instructions to you a few days prior to the walk. Please note: Some slight details above can be subject to change. This email will detail any of those minor changes.\nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.\nIf you are interested in learning a little more about your camera (or anything else photographic-related) prior to the walk\, we would love to have you for a Custom 1-on-1 class.

SUMMARY:Hunt's "Lensbaby" Photo Walk: Mt. Auburn Cemetery with Lensbaby!
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a very unique walk\, using Lensbaby lenses at Mt. Auburn Cemetery\, followed by an image review at Hunt’s Photo in Melrose. This walk is our first Photo Walk specifically geared towards using ONLY Lensbaby lenses! \nMt. Auburn Cemetery is one of Boston’s most beautiful green spaces. This large\, rolling parcel of land was America’s first garden-style cemetery. The historical 174-acre cemetery serves as a final resting place for the deceased\, but it is also an arboretum full of flowers\, flowering trees\, colorful shrubs\, architecture\, and wildlife. We will be going to the Cemetery in the heart of fall and should expect a good level of color. \nOn this walk\, we will specifically only be using Lensbaby lenses. For those unfamiliar\, Lensbaby is a company that makes creative effects lenses\, optics and accessories that accentuate selective focus and other stylistic effects. Lensbaby has a certain look\, but they also take time to learn how to use. For this reason\, we’ve developed a Photo Walk devoted entirely to Lensbaby. We will have Lensbaby lenses available to use\, but you are also welcome to bring your own\, if you have one. Mt. Auburn Cemetery has an excellent variety of landscape and details that accentuate the capabilities of these lenses.\nAfter the walk\, we will continue back to our store in Melrose where we will host a 1-hour image review. Attendees will submit a few select images and we will be able to discuss what worked and how we could improve in the future. This image review will also coincide with our annual Hunt’s Show\, which you are welcome to attend after the image review! \n \nAttendees should have: \nDigital Camera \nMemory Card \nTripod \nSuggested Items Attendees should have: \nExtra memory cards \nExtra camera battery \nReflectors/Diffusers \nCable Release/Wireless Remote to trigger camera

SUMMARY:Hunt’s Photo Workshop: Using On-Camera Filters\, ft. Nubble Light
DESCRIPTION:In the age of film photography\, filters were used to great effect. Because darkrooms were less accessible for editing (than editing in the digital age)\, filters were used to “get it right in camera”. Despite all the editing programs available today\, it is still best to “get it right in camera”\, and certain filters still produce vastly superior effects that cannot be achieved by post-processing alone. \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education’s Don Toothaker & Ron Phillips for a hands-on photography workshop designed to help attendees create better images by utilizing long-exposure. We will start with a classroom session (location TBD) explaining the different filter types and their uses\, as well as examples of when and why to use them. Circular Polarizers\, Neutral Density Filters\, and ND Graduated Filters will all be covered. After the classroom session\, we will break and reconvene at Nubble Light to put into practice the filters and techniques. We will conclude the walk around 6:30pm.\nWe will have some Benro Neutral Density and Circular Polarizing filters on-hand for attendees to use in order to test the techniques discussed in the class. \n \nIf you are attending this walk\, we will send out more specific instructions to you a few days prior to the walk. However\, be advised we will be meeting in York\, Maine. Please note: Some slight details above can be subject to change. This email will detail any of those minor changes.\nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up. \nAttendees should have: \nDigital Camera and Lens\nMemory Card\nTripod \nSuggested Items Attendees should have: \nVarious lenses\nExtra memory cards\nExtra camera battery\nFlashlight\nSnacks\nWater

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: The Crows of Lawrence
DESCRIPTION:The city of Lawrence\, Massachusetts is home to a significant Winter Crow Roost\, starting with 100-200 crows in early September to over 25\,000 by the new year. Join Hunt’s Photo Education’s Ron Phillips and local birder Craig Gibson for a unique Photo Walk that will observe the bigger picture of the Crows of Lawrence\, as they gather and circle\, leading into and just after sunset.\nWe will begin at 1:30pm in Lawrence to discuss much of the basis of what we will expect to see\, settings for our cameras and some test shots in the area. By mid-afternoon\, we will get into position and begin photographing\, and continue until we lose the majority of our working light. During this time\, hundreds of crows will gather in “pre-roost” locations\, finally converging about an hour after sunset. The sight is magnificent to behold!\nThis is not your typical birding photo walk\, but it is very unique and can yield spectacular imagery. Our co-leader\, Craig Gibson\, has done extensive research with this roost\, including extensive documentation over the past years. Craig has a breadth of knowledge and boundless enthusiasm on the subject. \n \nIf you are attending this walk\, we will send out more specific instructions to you a few days prior to the walk. However\, please be advised we will be meeting in Lawrence. Please note: Some slight details above can be subject to change. Our follow-up email will detail any of those minor changes.\nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Postcard Series of Photo Walks. Our Postcard Series are shorter Photo Walks and focused in concept. While our normal walks are 3-5 hours\, our Postcard series are generally shorter (about 2 hours) and focused on photographing one subject. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Plimoth Plantation
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a photo walk at the historic Plimoth Plantation in Plymouth\, Massachusetts. This walk will have an emphasis on storytelling with lots of opportunities for environmental portraits\, macro\, landscape\, and low light photography\, all under the guise of a 17th century New England settlement. \nFounded more than 65 years ago\, Plimoth Plantation is a living history museum that depicts the life and culture of America’s first settlers in the 17th century. The settlement is complete with houses\, gardens\, animals\, and pilgrims that live and speak just as if it was 1627. The grounds\, homes\, and settlers make for wonderful studies in light\, architecture\, detail\, and portraiture. Also on the property is a full Native American settlement as well. The Wampanoag’s were native to Plymouth before the arrival of our first settlers and the story of their lives\, and how it mixed with the Pilgrims\, is on display as well. Plimoth Plantation is a vital look into the lives of our ancestors and the growth of America. \nPlease note: Any photographs taken cannot have commercial use without written consent from Plimoth Plantation.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Postcard Series- Holiday Lights at Christopher Columbus Park
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Education for a set of walks that concentrate on photographing holiday lights. We have chosen a myriad of locations that vary in content and location. It may seem like a lot\, but we have chosen these locations for the variety they present for attendees!\nThis year\, we will be photographing lights at Boston Common & Gardens and Christopher Columbus Park in Boston; at La Salette Shrine in Attleboro; in downtown Portland\, Newburyport\, and Portsmouth; at the Stevens-Coolidge Place for “Winterlights” in North Andover; and at Olde Sturbridge Village for their annual Christmas by Candlelight! We will discuss the many aspects that go into photographing in low-light\, especially when encountering holiday lights\, including Image Composition\, Long Exposures\, Architectural Photography and many additional aspects of photographing holiday lights. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend.\nEffectively photographing holiday lights during the “blue hour” and at night can be a challenge. However\, with proper exposure and balance of composition\, you have the ability to capture great detail and color through your lenses. Join us for a terrific and beautiful experience! \nThese walks all occur at a time of the year when weather can be finicky. Curious about our weather policy? SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Olde Sturbridge Village
DESCRIPTION:Located an hour west of Boston\, Sturbridge Village is a proud replication of an 18th century New England town. Sturbridge Village is a living history museum that features many authentic period buildings and homes to explore and enjoy. The village is also inhabited by re-enactors who provide colorful insight to life in New England during the 18th century. Sturbridge Village is a wonderful destination for a multitude of photographic opportunities as well as a glimpse into a bygone era. \nOlde Sturbridge Village is perhaps one of the best places to have both a Photo Walk and a class. SUMMARY:Abstract Macro Workshop- Hunt's Photo\, Melrose
DESCRIPTION:Too often we feel that our photography comes to a halt during inclement weather. However\, there is ample opportunity to make use of our creativity while staying indoors. Many household items– cut flowers\, books\, antiques\, jewelry\, and glassware– all make for wonderful subjects while using natural window light. Every table in your house can become a landscape of opportunity with some imagination and creativity. \nIn this workshop\, we will emphasize working in macro to create abstractions. We will spend our day creating a variety of set ups\, unique macro scenarios\, and learning about the use of light and light modifiers to change effect. We will cover exposure\, composition\, how to use macro lenses and extension tubes\, how to set up lighting\, how to use light modifiers and more! \nA macro lens is strongly recommended for this class. Don’t have a macro lens? No worries! We can certainly provide you with options to use.
