On the walk\, we will discuss numerous aspects involving sunset\, including exposure\, composition\, and how to capture the vibrancy of the scene during sunset. For this series of walks\, we have chosen areas that are more spread out and with less foot traffic. We will also be limiting our group size to a maximum of 8 attendees with one instructor. After the course description (but before registration) will be guidelines for these walks. Please make sure to read them prior to registering. \nWalk Description\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education on a unique photo walk to the Heritage Museum and Gardens in Sandwich. This Photo Walk will offer a wide variety of shooting scenarios\, including plants and flowers with an emphasis on macro photography\, sculptures\, vintage cars\, and more. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend.\nThe Heritage Museum and Gardens is “the largest public garden in Southern New England”\, with over 100 acres of beautifully kept grounds. In addition to the wide variety of trees\, shrubs\, flowers\, daylilies\, hostas\, herb\, and heather gardens\, the grounds also have historic indoor exhibits\, including one of classic cars and sculpture. Please make sure to read them prior to registering. \nWalk Description\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a photo walk through MIT in Cambridge and onto Memorial Drive overlooking the Charles. On the walk\, we will discuss Architectural Photography\, Image Composition\, Long Exposures\, and Black and White Photography. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. \nMIT is not only famous as a research institute and school\, but also for the stunning architecture that has been commissioned. These include the Landau Building (“The Wedge”)\, The Dreyfuss Building\, Simmons Hall (“The Sponge”)\, the Zesiger Center (“Z-Center”)\, the newly constructed Sean Collier Memorial\, and the Stata Center (pictured). We will discuss the many ways these pieces of architecture can be photographed in the evening and night skies. Our walk will take us in and out of the MIT campus and along Memorial Drive and the Charles River. Please make sure to read them prior to registering.\n \n \nWalk Description\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education as we explore Horn Pond’s 102-acre body of water along the Aberjona River in Woburn\, Massachusetts. On this walk\, we will have numerous shooting opportunities from birds to flowers to landscapes and more! We may have a chance at some hummingbirds\, as well as other birds in the area\, and we will benefit from the flowers of the season. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend! \nHorn Pond is a wonderfully scenic area\, offering many outdoor activities such as hiking and bike riding. These same trails are an excellent place to explore many types of photographic opportunities\, emphasizing nature\, landscape\, and macro. On many of our walks\, the quality of day can positively or negatively affect how our images turn out. On this walk\, we will emphasize making the best out of any situation\, whether cloudy\, sunny or rainy (well\, not too rainy). Bring your creative thoughts! \nWe recommend having both a standard zoom lens and telephoto zoom lens\, preferably one that will go to 200mm or above. \nPlease note: There will be a good amount of walking on this Photo Walk. We will photograph both indoors and outdoors\, in regular light as well as very low light. We will discuss how to work with subjects to create a story\, and also work on settings to fine-tune focus and exposure! This Photo Walk is one of the best opportunities to build your photographic knowledge\, no matter what level. This walk is equally as beneficial as a first walk or a twentieth walk\, as the area has so much to offer!\nMost importantly\, because this is a multi-day workshop\, we will be able to spend more time working with our subject matter and discussing what works. \nWe will begin on Friday with an online presentation discussing Sturbridge Village. Because this is online\, you will not need to be in Sturbridge for this portion of the workshop. This walk will have an emphasis on storytelling with lots of opportunities for environmental portraits\, macro\, landscape\, and low light photography\, all under the guise of a 17th century New England settlement. \nFounded more than 65 years ago\, Plimoth Plantation is a living history museum that depicts the life and culture of America’s first settlers in the 17th century. The settlement is complete with houses\, gardens\, animals\, and pilgrims that live and speak just as if it was 1627. The grounds\, homes\, and settlers make for wonderful studies in light\, architecture\, detail\, and portraiture. Also on the property is a full Native American settlement as well. The Wampanoag’s were native to Plymouth before the arrival of our first settlers and the story of their lives\, and how it mixed with the Pilgrims\, is on display as well. Plimoth Plantation is a vital look into the lives of our ancestors and the growth of America. \nAfter the walk\, attendees will be asked to edit 2-3 images and submit them for our image review/critique\, which will happen the following Tuesday night. (We have found that giving a couple days gives attendees more of a chance to review and edit to their liking without feeling too rushed!) SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Workshop & Critique: Portsmouth at Night in Black & White
DESCRIPTION:Walk Description\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a photo walk in Portsmouth\, NH. During the walk\, we will discuss many of the aspects of photographing in low-light and at night\, including exposure\, focusing\, composition\, and especially working in Black & White. Photographers of all levels are welcome!\nPortsmouth\, New Hampshire is a large eclectic town along the coast of NH.  The town features a blend of new and old architecture amid a variety of shops\, restaurants\, docks\, boats\, and colors.  The end of the day and night time is a rich and beautiful time for creating photographs.  We will discuss and demonstrate various techniques for shooting in low-light scenarios in and around Portsmouth using available light.\nAfter the walk\, attendees will be asked to edit 2-3 images in black and white and submit them for our image review/critique\, which will happen the following night. We will discuss each attendee’s images and look at all the elements of photography discussed on the walk. Please note that this session will be recorded in case you cannot attend. \nState Policies Regarding COVID-19\n•Every state in New England has different policies for COVID. Please make sure you read and understand the state policies prior to signing up. You can find them here:\n Massachusetts\nNew Hampshire\nMaine\nRhode Island\n Connecticut\nVermont \nA Guideline for Photo Walks during the era of COVID-19 \nHunt’s Photo Education remains dedicated to the health and safety of every single attendee\, student\, and customer\, first and foremost. We also are committed to the best possible learning experience. We have put forth rules and guidelines for Photo Walks that occur during the era of COVID.\n•We will have no more than 6-8 attendees per Photo Walk with a single instructor\n•We ask that all attendees wear a mask. (Please make sure the mask covers your mouth and nose.)\n•We ask that all attendees socially distance 6 feet from one another\, unless you are attending with the other person\n•Hunt’s Photo Educators will be unable to physically handle others’ cameras\n•Consider bringing sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer\n•If you are sick or feeling unwell\, stay home! We will gladly give you credit towards a future walk! \nThese guidelines will stay in place until further notice. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.
