DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for another entry in our series of natural light portrait workshops where we vary it up by adding in flash! We will then utilize lower light techniques and photograph during twilight for some spectacular portrait results!\nFor this section\, you are welcome to bring your own flashes and light modifiers (soft boxes\, etc)\, but you also can use what we have with us as well. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. \nPlease note: At this time\, we do not have a specific meeting location. However\, the workshop will be happening north of Boston. We will update this post to reflect our specific meeting location when it has been decided. \nEmerging Series- A Guideline for Photo Walks during the era of COVID-19\nAs the COVID lockdown ends and social restrictions begin to ease\, we have decided to start offering our popular Hunt’s Photo Walks again.\nHunt’s Photo Education remains dedicated to the health and safety of every single attendee\, student\, and customer\, first and foremost. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Workshop: Developing Technique- The North End at Night
DESCRIPTION:Walk Description\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a Photo Workshop involving the historic North End of Boston. We will have a discussion and photo walk specifically about shooting in lower light with an emphasis on night photography. This will include assistance with exposure\, composition\, focusing\, use of tripods\, and a myriad of other settings and concepts. \nBoston is often referred to as a “city of neighborhoods”. One of the city’s most notable neighborhoods\, and its oldest\, is the North End. Beginning in the 1600s this is where immigrants to the New World entered the city for the first time\, which made the North End a busy\, vibrant center of activity. Today\, this tightly knit area is known as “Little Italy” given the prominent Italian-American influence and population found here. Quaint eateries\, fine restaurants\, and historic locations are characteristics that make the North End one of Boston’s premier destinations. \nThis workshop is also an excellent chance to work on street photography. During the first few hours\, our light will start to change\, giving us some excellent opportunities at casual portraits and street scenes. As we move into more of the nighttime light\, we will shift to long exposures. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Workshop: A Weekend at Olde Sturbridge Village
DESCRIPTION:Walk Description\nLocated an hour west of Boston\, Sturbridge Village is a proud replication of an 18th century New England town. Sturbridge Village is a living history museum that features many authentic period buildings and homes to explore and enjoy. The village is also inhabited by re-enactors who provide colorful insight to life in New England during the 18th century. Sturbridge Village is a wonderful destination for a multitude of photographic opportunities as well as a glimpse into a bygone era. \nOlde Sturbridge Village is perhaps one of the best places to have both a Photo Workshop and a class. There’s a little bit of everything at this living history museum\, from macro and closeup with fine details to architecture\, from portraits to landscapes. We will photograph both indoors and outdoors\, in regular light as well as very low light. We will discuss how to work with subjects to create a story\, and also work on settings to fine-tune focus and exposure! This Photo Walk is one of the best opportunities to build your photographic knowledge\, no matter what level. This walk is equally as beneficial as a first walk or a twentieth walk\, as the area has so much to offer!\nMost importantly\, because this is a multi-day workshop\, we will be able to spend more time working with our subject matter and discussing what works. \nWe will begin on Friday with an online presentation discussing Sturbridge Village. Because this is online\, you will not need to be in Sturbridge for this portion of the workshop. We will then meet the following morning at Sturbridge Village and work in the village for the day.\nIn the evening\, we will have an image review and critique to discuss photography from the day.\nThe next morning\, we will return to the Village to work further with our subjects. Join us for this great experience! \nNote: During the era of COVID\, all actors will be wearing masks. \nRegarding lodging We recommend staying overnight from Saturday to Sunday in the general area of Sturbridge. We have blocked a group of rooms at the Hampton Inn in Sturbridge (508-347-6466). The cost of your ticket does not include the cost of the lodging.\nPlease also note: The cost of your ticket does not include entrance to Sturbridge Village. COVID policies require that all tickets must be purchased online prior to arriving at the village. You can purchase tickets up to two weeks in advance here. During the walk\, we will discuss many of the aspects of photographing in low-light and at night\, including exposure\, focusing\, composition\, and more. In late 2018\, the bridge was enhanced with new LED lighting\, bringing stunning new views to this unique structure. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Workshop & Critique: Plimoth Plantation
DESCRIPTION:Photo Walk: Saturday\, November 21st\, 9am-12pm • Plymouth\, MA \nImage Review/Critique: Monday\, December 7th\, 7-9pm • Online! \nWalk Description\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a photo walk at the historic Plimoth Plantation in Plymouth\, Massachusetts. This walk will have an emphasis on storytelling with lots of opportunities for environmental portraits\, macro\, landscape\, and low light photography\, all under the guise of a 17th century New England settlement. \nFounded more than 65 years ago\, Plimoth Plantation is a living history museum that depicts the life and culture of America’s first settlers in the 17th century. The settlement is complete with houses\, gardens\, animals\, and pilgrims that live and speak just as if it was 1627. The grounds\, homes\, and settlers make for wonderful studies in light\, architecture\, detail\, and portraiture. Also on the property is a full Native American settlement as well. The Wampanoag’s were native to Plymouth before the arrival of our first settlers and the story of their lives\, and how it mixed with the Pilgrims\, is on display as well. Plimoth Plantation is a vital look into the lives of our ancestors and the growth of America. \nAfter the walk\, attendees will be asked to edit 2-3 images and submit them for our image review/critique\, which will happen the following Tuesday night. (We have found that giving a couple days gives attendees more of a chance to review and edit to their liking without feeling too rushed!) We will discuss each attendee’s images and look at all the elements of photography discussed on the walk. Please note that this session will be recorded in case you cannot attend. \nPlease note: Any photographs taken cannot have commercial use without written consent from Plimoth Plantation. \nPlease note: The cost of your ticket does not include entrance to Plimoth Plantation. Tickets may be purchased at the door. \nA Guideline for Photo Walks during the era of COVID-19\nAs the COVID lockdown ends and social restrictions begin to ease\, we have decided to start offering our popular Hunt’s Photo Walks again.\nHunt’s Photo Education remains dedicated to the health and safety of every single attendee\, student\, and customer\, first and foremost. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Workshop: Beach Art and Abstracts at Salisbury Beach
DESCRIPTION:Walk Description\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a workshop that will emphasize creating art and abstracts at the Salisbury Beach Reservation. This is an excellent opportunity to try something different. However\, we strongly recommend you have a solid understanding of your camera. This isn’t only for advanced photographers\, but it’s really not meant for beginners.\nThe ocean is an ever changing stage for creativity. Sunrise\, the surf\, and the beach provide ample opportunities for creating interesting and abstract images. We will begin the morning working on Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) to create painterly images of the sea. Slower shutter speeds and moving the camera during the exposure will render the sand\, surf\, sea\, and sky in a very creative\, dramatic fashion. The results can be stunning. We will then move on to exploring the many and varied still life scenes etched or left in the sand by the tide. This promises to be a unique and creative day! \nState Policies Regarding COVID-19\n•Every state in New England has different policies for COVID.
