We will emphasize creating portraits using available light through subject placement and composition through the aid of diffusers and reflectors. We will then separately demonstrate reasons to add in flash. \nWe will begin photographing mid-day in the sunlight (and shade) and work to sunset. We will then utilize lower light techniques and photograph during twilight for some spectacular portrait results! \nFor this workshop\, you are welcome to bring your own flashes and light modifiers (soft boxes\, etc)\, but you also can use what we have with us as well. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. \nFor our meeting location\, we have chosen downtown Haverhill\, Massachusetts. With a variety of brick buildings and urban environments\, downtown Haverhill (or any downtown area) can offer a wonderful variety of shooting environments. This workshop will help emphasize those capabilities. \nA Guideline for Photo Walks during the era of COVID-19 \nHunt’s Photo Education remains dedicated to the health and safety of every single attendee\, student\, and customer\, first and foremost. This will include assistance with exposure\, composition\, focusing\, use of tripods\, and a myriad of other settings and concepts.\nBoston is often referred to as a “city of neighborhoods”. One of the city’s most notable neighborhoods\, and its oldest\, is the North End. Beginning in the 1600s this is where immigrants to the New World entered the city for the first time\, which made the North End a busy\, vibrant center of activity. Today\, this tightly knit area is known as “Little Italy” given the prominent Italian-American influence and population found here. Quaint eateries\, fine restaurants\, and historic locations are characteristics that make the North End one of Boston’s premier destinations.\nThis walk is also an excellent chance to work on street photography. During the first hour\, our light will start to change\, giving us some excellent opportunities at casual portraits and street scenes. As we move into more of the nighttime light\, we will shift to long exposures. Join us for this very diverse photo walk! \nUpdated COVID-19 Policies for outdoor Hunt’s Photo Walks and Workshops\nHunt’s Photo Education is aligning with CDC and state guidelines and will no longer require face masks for our outdoor Photo Walks. If you are more comfortable wearing a mask\, please feel free to do so. We also recommend bringing a mask\, just in case. We also ask that you maintain social distance of 6 feet from one another.\nHunt’s Photo Education will still adhere to our 8 person attendee maximum per Photo Walk with a single instructor (unless otherwise noted).\nAs always\, if you are sick or feeling unwell\, STAY HOME! We will gladly give you a credit towards a future walk. \nRegister here\n***Having trouble registering? You can also register by clicking here! \n \nIf you are attending this walk\, we will send out more specific instructions to you a few days prior to the walk. Please note: Some slight details above can be subject to change. This email will detail any of those minor changes.\nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up. \nDress and Gear \n•Make sure to dress accordingly with the most current weather report.\n•Consider bringing wide angle or standard zoom lenses\, and a telephoto zoom lens\n•A prime lens (or even a macro) may also suit you well.\n•You can bring a telephoto zoom lens\, but be advised to bring only what you want to carry.\n•Make sure to bring your tripod with a quick release plate and a shutter release\, if you have one.\n•Feel free to bring snacks and water\, and a flashlight will likely help as well.\n•Bring an extra camera battery and memory cards.\n•As always\, bring your enthusiasm and creative thoughts!

Lowell\, nicknamed “Mill City”\, still retains much of its’ early 20th century look (and charm)\, with many old mills being converted to apartments\, artist spaces\, shops and more. On this walk\, we will photograph around many of the mill areas and along the beautiful Merrimack River with the many bridges and cobblestone walkways. Photographers of all skill levels are welcome. \nUpdated COVID-19 Policies for outdoor Hunt’s Photo Walks and Workshops\nHunt’s Photo Education is aligning with CDC and state guidelines and will no longer require face masks for our outdoor Photo Walks. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Nifty Fifty Workshop: Chinatown to Downtown Crossing
DESCRIPTION:Walk: Friday\, July 23rd\, 7-10pm • Boston\, MA \nImage Review: Monday\, July 26th\, 7-9pm • Online! \n  \nWorking in the field with only a 50mm lens! \nFollowed by an image review & critique \nRecommended prerequisite: Working knowledge of your camera We also recommend having some of the knowledge from our Beginner Photography class \nMust have a 50mm lens \nAll Skill Levels Welcome \nInstructor: Emily Hojnowski \nClass Size: Maximum 8 attendees \nAbout the Nifty Fifty Workshops\nEvery photographer at one point or another has the internal struggle before going to photograph: What lenses should I bring with me today? The common answer is as many as I can without being too uncomfortable. And so we pack up our wide\, standard\, telephoto\, prime\, and macro lenses and head out into the field\, forcing ourselves to endure limitless choices while sacrificing simplicity.\nOur Nifty Fifty workshops flip the script and force you to only carry one lens: A 50mm lens\, nostalgically referred to as a “nifty fifty”. With limitations\, what can you– the photographer\, the creator\, the artist– achieve?\nThese workshops will start with our basic photo walk\, where we will meet in the field and work with only a 50mm lens in a specific location. Attendees will then submit a handful of images for an online image review\, to be held a few days later. During that image review\, we will be able to see others’ work\, discuss how to achieve different effects\, and consider editing choices. This is an excellent workshop for all photographers–from Beginner to Advanced–because it forces you to work in a different way. \nWalk Description\nFor this workshop\, we will be photographing from Chinatown to Downtown Crossing. Chinatown and Downtown Crossing (and areas in between) are two easily recognizable areas in downtown Boston. Boston’s Chinatown is quite small in size\, but has many unique sites and is the last remaining historic Chinese area in New England. Downtown Crossing is home to street vendors and a myriad number of shopping establishments with bright lights. Sandwiched in between is the Theater District of Boston. All three provide excellent opportunities to photograph the unique architecture and people of the area\, all using that lovely 50mm glass!\n*Question: Are other prime lenses acceptable? Olympus/Panasonic users may use a 25mm lens\, since it gives the same look as a 50mm and other primes can be used as an alternative\, but we ask that you try to keep it at one prime in as close to that range as possible. We also ask that you maintain social distance of 6 feet from one another.\nWe will continue to have a maximum of 8 attendees per one instructor.\nAs always\, if you are sick or feeling unwell\, STAY HOME! We will gladly give you a credit towards a future walk. \nThese guidelines will stay in place until further notice. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. If you have any questions\, feel free to contact us at classes@huntsphoto.com. \nRegister here \n***Having trouble registering? Please note: Some slight details above can be subject to change. This email will detail any of those minor changes.\nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up. \nDress and Gear \n•Make sure to dress accordingly with the most current weather report.\n•Only a 50mm lens will be necessary\n•A tripod is recommended\, but not required.\n•Feel free to bring snacks and water\, and a flashlight will likely help as well.\n•Bring an extra camera battery and memory cards.\n•A good\, fun attitude is always recommended!

We will emphasize creating portraits using available light through subject placement and composition through the aid of diffusers and reflectors.
You can also register by clicking here! \n \nIf you are attending this walk\, we will send out more specific instructions to you a few days prior to the walk. Please note: Some slight details above can be subject to change. This email will detail any of those minor changes.\nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

We will then separately demonstrate reasons to add in flash. \nWe will begin photographing mid-day in the sunlight (and shade) and work to sunset. We will then utilize lower light techniques and photograph during twilight for some spectacular portrait results! \nYou are welcome to bring your own flashes and light modifiers (soft boxes\, etc)\, but you also can use what we have with us as well. \nAfter the workshop\, attendees will be able to work with and digitally submit a handful of images for an online image review\, to be held the following week. During that image review\, we will be able to see others’ work\, discuss elements of subject positioning\, lighting\, composition and more\, and consider editing choices.\nPhotographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. We also ask that you maintain social distance of 6 feet from one another.\nIn this workshop\, our attendee maximum is higher\, but we will have two instructors.\nAs always\, if you are sick or feeling unwell\, STAY HOME! We will gladly give you a credit towards a future walk. \nRegister Here\n***Having trouble registering?
