SUMMARY:Hunt's Portrait Workshop: Portrait Lighting Bootcamp
DESCRIPTION:Saturday March 5th\, 9am-4pm • Hunt’s Photo\, Manchester \nA workshop on practical lighting for portraits \nRecommended Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of your camera\, interest in portraits \nInstructor: Paul Nelson \nClass Size: Maximum 12 attendees \nWorkshop Description\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for our Portrait Lighting Bootcamp\, where we will workshop portraits using practical lighting options. Lighting can be intimidating\, whether using a speedlight on camera (or off) or a studio strobe. Our goal is to get each attendee more comfortable with the basics of lighting\, demonstrate how and why to set up lights in certain ways\, and how to create stunning portraits with these lights. \nIn the workshop\, we will create three basic setups with models at each location: Creative lighting portraits; corporate head shots; and full-length portraits. We will utilize studio strobes\, speedlights\, and constant lighting in order to get you comfortable with using all three. \nMost importantly\, attendees will be guiding the setup (and take down) of all the gear. This allows for more hands-on working with everything involved with studio lighting\, from the light to the light stand to the background.\nAttendees are encouraged to bring their own gear\, but we will begin with gear that anyone can use\, including: \n-Studio Strobes\n-Speedlights\n-LED Lighting\n-Radio Triggers\n-Lightmeters \nLayout of the day: \n9am- Introductions and Q&A\n9:30am- Begin creating setups\n10:30am- Demoing of setups (during this time\, we will photograph each other- Be Prepared!)\n11:30am- Brief Break\n12-4pm- Photographing with models. Those lenses are recommended\n•You may choose a wider lens\, such as a 35mm or 50mm\, but be aware they will include more of the background\n•You are welcome to bring your own flash and light modifier (soft box\, etc). Sturbridge Village is a living history museum that features many authentic period buildings and homes to explore and enjoy. The village is also inhabited by re-enactors who provide colorful insight to life in New England during the 18th century. Sturbridge Village is a wonderful destination for a multitude of photographic opportunities as well as a glimpse into a bygone era. \nOlde Sturbridge Village is perhaps one of the best places to have both a Photo Walk and a class. There’s a little bit of everything at this living history museum\, from macro and closeup with fine details to architecture\, from portraits to landscapes. We will photograph both indoors and outdoors\, in regular light as well as very low light. We will discuss how to work with subjects to create a story\, and also work on settings to fine-tune focus and exposure! This Photo Walk is one of the best opportunities to build your photographic knowledge\, no matter what level. This walk is equally as beneficial as a first walk or a twentieth walk\, as the area has so much to offer! \nAfter the workshop\, attendees will have the opportunity to review their images and make some edits. We will then reconvene online with an image review where we will discuss many of the factors that we discussed on the walk portion of the workshop. This workshop is an excellent opportunity to hone in on and develop your photography skills. \nJoin us for a great experience! \nPlease note: The cost of your ticket does not include entrance to Sturbridge Village. You can purchase tickets up to two weeks in advance here. \nCOVID-19 Policies for outdoor Hunt’s Photo Walks and Workshops\nFace masks are recommended\, but not required for our outdoor Photo Walks. We also ask that you maintain social distance whenever possible. \nAs always\, if you are sick or feeling unwell\, STAY HOME! We will gladly give you a credit towards a future walk. \nThese guidelines will stay in place until further notice. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. If you have any questions\, feel free to contact us at classes@huntsphoto.com. \nRegister here\n***Having trouble registering? You can also register by

SUMMARY:Online: Personal Vision Series- Finding Color
DESCRIPTION:Presentation: Wednesday March 2nd\, 7-8pm • Online! \nImage Review/Critique: Monday March 14th\, 7-9pm • Online! \nInstructor: Don Toothaker \nClass Size: Limited to 8 attendees \nBelow the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education as we help grow your knowledge\, creativity\, and artistic expression with our expanded Personal Vision Series. These classes are designed to provide you time\, opportunity\, and guidance in shaping your creative photographic voice. We will give an overview on a specific topic in an online class session\, then give you time to go into the field by yourself (or with someone else\, if you choose) to complete an assignment based on that topic. We will reconvene a few days later for an online image review to discuss elements of your images.\nThe Personal Vision Series is a crossroads of many different ideas that we offer with Hunt’s Photo Education: Topic-based instruction/classes\, Photo Walks\, & Image Reviews. However\, unlike a Photo Walk where we will all take a certain direction\, for the “Walk” portion\, you will be asked to journey out on your own to photograph. This will cause you to be the driving force of your creativity and vision!\nThis week’s topic is Finding Color. We will have an instructional online presentation on the first date and will reconvene for our Image Review on the second date. You will have that time period in between to photograph and edit our assignment.\nYour personal creative voice is critical to your growth as a photographer and as an artist. Join us for to help grow that voice! \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. \nNo online classes should be shared and cannot be shared in a public environment\, including with camera clubs\nThe online content is the copyright of Hunt’s Photo Education and/or the Instructor. Please support our education team and instructors by not sharing this material! We appreciate your support\, and it’s thanks to that support that we are able to continue producing content! \nRegister Here\n***Having trouble registering? The first step to creating a great print is by understanding how to create a great photograph in the field.\nCapture-To-Print is an intermediate workshop that focuses not only on photography\, but also editing and printing! Half photo workshop\, half editing and printing\, we will take you through the whole process–from Capture to Print— to demonstrate what is important in the field\, how to effectively process photos\, and why printing is a necessity.\nWe will begin in our classroom with lighting setups and a variety of flowers\, which we will photograph over the course of the morning. We will transition from photographing to editing in the early afternoon. Attendees are encouraged to bring their computers–laptops or all-in-ones are fine (iMacs are welcome)–in order to do their own editing. Attendees should have Adobe Lightroom and/or Photoshop\, or a comparable program on their computer. We will be available to help with the processing of images during this time. We will then view these edits\, critique\, and discuss them with the rest of the class while also creating 13×19″ prints.\nThis will be a fun and challenging workshop that will walk you through the full process of creating a photograph. The process of printing is integral to developing one’s photographic vision. \nApproximate schedule for the day:\n9am- Introductions\, discussion of lighting and macro techniques\n9:30am- Photographing of flowers\, macro\n12pm- Begin editing (Attendees are encouraged to bring a bagged lunch and take a short break during this time)\n2pm- Review\, critique\, and printing \nPlease Note: A Slight Change to COVID-19 Policies on Masks and Social Distancing\nUntil further notice\, we will be requiring masks for our indoor classes. We also ask that you socially distance whenever possible.\nAs always\, if you are sick or feeling unwell\, STAY HOME! We will gladly give you a credit towards a future class. \nRegister here\n***Having trouble registering? You can also register by clicking here! \n\nIf you are attending this workshop\, we will send out more specific instructions to you a few days prior to the workshop. Please note: Some slight details above can be subject to change. This email will detail any of those minor changes.\nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up. \nWhat to Bring \n•If you have specific flowers that you would like to bring to photograph\, you are welcome to bring them as well.\n•A Macro lens will be your best lens of choice for this workshop. Remember\, we have a rental department at rentals.huntsphoto.com\n•Alternatively\, you could consider a prime lens (ex 50mm) or a long telephoto zoom lens\, but macro is still best\n•Macro filters or extension tubes could also work\n•Make sure to bring your tripod with a quick release plate and a shutter release\, if you have one.\n•Laptop with Lightroom/Photoshop or an equivalent editing program\n•Feel free to bring snacks and water\n•Bring an extra camera battery and memory cards.\n•As always\, bring your enthusiasm and creative thoughts!

We will cover exposure\, composition\, how to use macro lenses and extension tubes\, how to set up lighting\, how to use light modifiers and more! \nWe will be bringing lots of toys and other props to photograph for this workshop. However\, we find in our macro workshops that our attendees value shooting some things of their own as much if not more than what we bring. So\, while we will have those toys and props\, feel free to bring your own! \nCOVID-19 Policies on Masks and Social Distancing\nUntil further notice\, we will be requiring masks for our indoor classes. This email will detail any of those minor changes. \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up. \nGear \n•A Macro lens will be your best lens of choice for this workshop.
