SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Holiday Lights in Downtown Newburyport
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Education for a set of walks that concentrate on photographing holiday lights. We have chosen a myriad of locations that vary in content and location. It may seem like a lot\, but we have chosen these locations for the variety they present for attendees!\nThis year\, we will be photographing lights at Boston Common & Gardens; Faneuil Hall & Christopher Columbus Park; at Tower Hill Botanic Gardens in Boylston; at Heritage Gardens in Sandwich; in downtown Newburyport; at the Stevens-Coolidge Place in North Andover; and at the Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay Harbor\, Maine for their annual “Gardens Aglow”. We will discuss the many aspects that go into photographing in low-light\, especially when encountering holiday lights\, including Image Composition\, Long Exposures\, Architectural Photography and many additional aspects of photographing holiday lights. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend.\nEffectively photographing holiday lights during the “blue hour” and at night can be a challenge. However\, with proper exposure and balance of composition\, you have the ability to capture great detail and color through your lenses.\nTo register for Holiday Lights in Downtown Newburyport

SUMMARY:Holiday-Themed Macro & Tabletop Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Too often we feel that our photography comes to a halt during inclement weather. However\, there is ample opportunity to make use of our creativity while staying indoors. Many household items\, cut flowers\, books\, antiques\, jewelry\, and glassware all make for wonderful subjects while using natural window light. Every table in your house can become a landscape of opportunity with some imagination and creativity. \nIn our Holiday Macro & Tabletop workshop\, we will specialize in creating holiday-themed macro images. Who doesn’t want to spruce up their holiday cards with a beautifully exposed and composed holiday-themed macro photograph?? At the end of the workshop\, our goal is to have each photographer leave with a beautiful print. We will spend our day creating a variety of still life set ups\, unique macro scenarios\, and learning about the use of light and light modifiers\, all with a holiday spin! \nA Very Special Printing Addition!\nAs an additional bonus to our workshop\, Hunt’s Photo Education will also be making some prints! Each attendee will have the ability to pick out an image they produce from the day and have it printed as a holiday card on Moab’s Entrada Folding Cards. Our Education Team will be printing these throughout the afternoon and will guide attendees through the basic print process in Lightroom.\n \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Portrait Walk: Portrait Lighting Bootcamp
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our Portrait Lighting Bootcamp\, where we will workshop portraits using practical lighting options. Lighting can be intimidating\, whether using a speedlight on camera (or off) or a studio strobe. Our goal is to get each attendee more comfortable with the basics of lighting\, demonstrate how and why to set up lights in certain ways\, and how to create stunning portraits with these lights. \nIn the workshop\, we will create three basic setups with models at each location: Creative lighting portraits; corporate head shots; and full-length portraits. We will utilize both studio strobes and speedlights in order to get you comfortable with using both. \nMost importantly\, attendees will be guiding the setup (and take down) of all the gear. This allows for more hands-on working with everything involved with studio lighting\, from the light to the light stand to the background.\nAttendees are encouraged to bring their own gear\, but we will begin with gear that anyone can use\, including: \n-Elinchrom Strobes\n-Speedlights (both brand–Nikon\, Canon\, Sony– and non-brand specific–Phottix\, etc.)\n-Phottix & Pocket Wizard Radio Triggers\n-Sekonic Lightmeters\n-Tethering capabilities for applicable cameras \nWhat to bring:\n-Camera with fully charged battery\n-Memory cards\n-For lenses\, consider bringing lenses between 50mm and 100mm. Prime lenses with low apertures are a great option\, but zoom lenses that fit this range will also work fine.\n-You are welcome to bring your own speedlights and triggers\, but we will begin the day using generic options. \nLayout of the day: \n9am- Introductions\, brief presentation on lighting\, camera setup\,\n10:30am- Demoing of setups\n11:30am- Short lunch break\n12-4pm- Photographing with models. We will have about 4 hours in three setups.\n4-5pm- Review of images & takeaways from the day

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Museum of Fine Arts Boston
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a photo walk in one of Boston’s treasures: the Museum of Fine Arts. Boasting dozens of current exhibits and over 450\,000 pieces of art the MFA is one of the largest museums in the country and in the world. Please note: Rules and regulations pertaining to photography IN the MFA must be followed at all times. \nWe will meet at the MFA ticket booth. Your class fee includes entrance to the museum. If you are a member of the MFA\, please contact classes@huntsphoto.com before signing up to receive a discount code for $20 off your ticket price. In addition to your camera\, consider bringing a prime lens\, as tripods are not allowed in the museum.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a look into the past at the Charles River Museum of Industry in Waltham. In this workshop\, we will discuss Subject Development\, Image Composition\, Macro Photography\, HDR\, Black and White Photography\, and Architectural Photography.\nThe industrial revolution changed our country\, and the world\, forever. The Charles River Museum of Industry is currently housed in what is considered the first ever factory in America. In Waltham\, the closed factory now plays the role of housing a history of the tools and machinery used in industry. This walk is an excellent chance to photograph the grit of the previous centuries under the Industrial Revolution\, and is a chance to work in low-light environments where the lighting sources cannot be controlled and focus on macro photography.\nFor the bulk of the time\, we will explore the interior of the museum\, looking for images that tell the significant historic story they offer. If weather allows\, we will also photograph on the exterior of the location. Join us for a creative day of looking into the past! \n \nIf you are attending this walk\, we will send out more specific instructions to you a few days prior to the walk. Please note: Some slight details above can be subject to change. This email will detail any of those minor changes.\nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our Macro & Tabletop Workshop\, Capture & Edit Edition! In this workshop\, we will combine the fun of photographing macro and tabletop setups with editing and processing of images. \nToo often we feel that our photography comes to a halt during inclement weather. However\, there is ample opportunity to make use of our creativity while staying indoors. Every table in your house can become a landscape of opportunity with some imagination and creativity. \nWe will begin with a short presentation on macro photography\, how to use specific gear\, how to light\, and how to compose macro photographs. We will then spend the next portion of our day creating a variety of still life set ups and unique macro scenarios using a variety of lights and light modifiers. We will then transition to the processing of images\, working individually on your own personal laptops. We will finish with a brief critique of images. \nWe recommend bringing a laptop with Adobe Lightroom or Adobe Photoshop installed for editing. \nThis workshop is recommended for anyone who wants to get more creative with their photography\, both in camera and in post-production! \nApproximate schedule for the day:\n10am- Introductions\, presentation on macro\, gear\, lighting\, settings\, etc\n11am- Photographing of macro setups\n2pm- Short lunch break; quick cleanup of macro setups (Attendees are encouraged to bring a bagged lunch and take a short break during this time) After lunch\, we will work on post-processing of images.\n4pm- Review & critique\n5pm- End of day \nPlease note: Depending on how many attendees we receive\, we may hold this workshop at a different nearby location with more space\, rather than in the store. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Workshop: Using On-Camera Filters\, ft. Fan Pier\, Boston
DESCRIPTION:In the age of film photography\, filters were used to great effect. Because darkrooms were less accessible for editing (than editing in the digital age)\, filters were used to “get it right in camera”. Despite all the editing programs available today\, it is still best to “get it right in camera”\, and certain filters still produce vastly superior effects that cannot be achieved by post-processing alone. \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Educators Rick Berk and Emily Hojnowski for a hands-on photography workshop designed to help attendees create better images by utilizing long-exposure. We will start with a classroom session explaining the different filter types and their uses\, as well as examples of when and why to use them. Circular Polarizers\, Neutral Density Filters\, and ND Graduated Filters will all be covered. At about 3:30pm we will break and reconvene at Fan Pier in Boston at 4:30pm to put into practice the filters and techniques. We will conclude the walk around 8:30pm.\nWe will have some Benro Neutral Density and Circular Polarizing filters on-hand for attendees to use in order to test the techniques discussed in the class. If attendees are interested in purchasing filters to use during the event\, we will be offering a discount on them the day of the workshop. \n \nIf you are attending this walk\, we will send out more specific instructions to you a few days prior to the walk. However\, be advised we will be meeting at Hunt’s Photo\, Melrose at the time listed. We will be traveling separately to Fan Pier in Boston. We will not need to return to Melrose and will conclude the workshop around 8:30pm in Boston. Please note: Some slight details above can be subject to change. This email will detail any of those minor changes.\nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Workshop...on the Water: Whale Watch!
DESCRIPTION:Join us aboard an offshore power catamaran with Capt. John T. Pirie on a private tour available only to Hunt’s Photo Education attendees. We plan to immerse you in the cetacean feeding frenzy that occurs each Spring as these hungry giants return from their long migration and 4 month fasting period. One can expect to see a variety of cetaceans\, birds and occasionally fish such as tuna and sharks. Whales such as Humpback\, Minke\, Finback\, and the endangered Right Whale frequent the Cape Ann waters during the Spring migration. We often see large schools of Atlantic White-Sided Dolphins who are always willing to come play around the boat. The shy Harbor Porpoise may be sighted as well as seals and a large variety of pelagic birdlife.\nWe will depart from Cape Ann Marina onboard the “Orca”– a 26’ twin engine custom-built catamaran. We will spend 6 hours at sea during prime light and viewing hours. The trips will be limited to 6 photographers so that your experience is both intimate and personalized. You will have the opportunity to practice and improve your photography skills while enjoying a remarkable experience amongst feeding cetaceans.\nMore details\, including what to bring and what to expect\, are listed below. \n \nIf you are attending this workshop\, we will send out more specific instructions to you a few days prior to the workshop. However\, be advised we will be meeting at Cape Ann Marina in Gloucester\, MA at the time listed. Please note: Some slight details above can be subject to change. This email will detail any of those minor changes. \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up. Also read a note on sea weather below in “Cancellations”.
