Please make sure to read them prior to registering.  \nWalk Description\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education as we photograph long exposures in morning light at one of the oldest lighthouses in the United States. Scituate Lighthouse sits along the rocky coast of the South Shore of Massachusetts. We will begin the morning by discussing settings\, composition\, and best techniques to capture the lighthouse in morning light. We will then work to create daytime long exposures using neutral density filters. Filters and a tripod are required for this walk. \nThis is a great opportunity to work on daytime long exposures by using Neutral Density filters and learning how to use a CPL filter properly. DESCRIPTION:Walk Description\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a photo walk in the historic North End of Boston. During the walk\, we will discuss shooting in lower light with an emphasis on black and white photography. This will include assistance with exposure\, composition\, focusing\, use of tripods\, and a myriad of other settings and concepts.\nBoston is often referred to as a “city of neighborhoods”. One of the city’s most notable neighborhoods\, and its oldest\, is the North End. Beginning in the 1600s this is where immigrants to the New World entered the city for the first time\, which made the North End a busy\, vibrant center of activity. Today\, this tightly knit area is known as “Little Italy” given the prominent Italian-American influence and population found here. Quaint eateries\, fine restaurants\, and historic locations are characteristics that make the North End one of Boston’s premier destinations. \nThis walk is also an excellent chance to work on street photography. During the first few hours\, our light will start to change\, giving us some excellent opportunities at casual portraits and street scenes. As we move into more of the nighttime light\, we will shift to long exposures. Please make sure to read them prior to registering.\n \n \nWalk Description\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education as we explore Horn Pond’s 102-acre body of water along the Aberjona River in Woburn\, Massachusetts. On this walk\, we will have numerous shooting opportunities from birds to flowers to landscapes and more! We may have a chance at some hummingbirds\, as well as other birds in the area\, and we will benefit from the flowers of the season. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend! \nHorn Pond is a wonderfully scenic area\, offering many outdoor activities such as hiking and bike riding. These same trails are an excellent place to explore many types of photographic opportunities\, emphasizing nature\, landscape\, and macro. On many of our walks\, the quality of day can positively or negatively affect how our images turn out. On this walk\, we will emphasize making the best out of any situation\, whether cloudy\, sunny or rainy (well\, not too rainy). Bring your creative thoughts! \nWe recommend having both a standard zoom lens and telephoto zoom lens\, preferably one that will go to 200mm or above. \nPlease note: There will be a good amount of walking on this Photo Walk. Please make sure to read them prior to registering. \nWalk Description\nJoin instructor Don Toothaker for a special photo walk in Haverhill\, MA where we will concentrate on being able to see and photograph in Black & White. During the walk\, we will also discuss elements that contribute to become more adept at both Black and White and night photography\, including exposure\, focusing\, composition and much more! This will be followed the next night by an image review/critique featuring images taken on the photo walk by each attendee. Photographers of all skill levels are welcome!\nHaverhill\, Massachusetts was once known as the “Queen Slipper City” for its high percentage of shoes produced in the town. The town retains the look of a manufacturing town\, and this look translates extremely well to the look of Black & White photography. On this walk\, we will move about the downtown area and along the Merrimack River at dusk and into the night. Our task will be to focus our energies into how to effectively see and create images in Black & White.\nAfter the walk\, attendees will be asked to edit 2-3 images in black and white and submit them for our image review/critique\, which will happen the following night. We will discuss each attendee’s images and look at all the elements of photography discussed on the walk. There are so many pieces to the puzzle of photography\, some of which use confusing terminology. For this reason\, we often start newcomers off using the Priority Modes because it’s “easier”. In reality\, these priority modes are just a short-term solution. It’s important to fully understand the “why” and “how” of your camera settings\, and learning to master manual is an excellent way to do so.  \nIn this outdoor\, hands-on workshop\, you’ll learn how and why to control aperture\, shutter\, and ISO\, as well as how to get the right exposure in the field. During the walk\, we will discuss Subject Development\, Image Composition\, Exposure\, Black and White Photography\, Low Light Photography\, and Architectural Photography. DESCRIPTION:Walk Description\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a photo walk at the historic Plimoth Plantation in Plymouth\, Massachusetts. This walk will have an emphasis on storytelling with lots of opportunities for environmental portraits\, macro\, landscape\, and low light photography\, all under the guise of a 17th century New England settlement. \nFounded more than 65 years ago\, Plimoth Plantation is a living history museum that depicts the life and culture of America’s first settlers in the 17th century. The settlement is complete with houses\, gardens\, animals\, and pilgrims that live and speak just as if it was 1627. The grounds\, homes\, and settlers make for wonderful studies in light\, architecture\, detail\, and portraiture. Also on the property is a full Native American settlement as well. The Wampanoag’s were native to Plymouth before the arrival of our first settlers and the story of their lives\, and how it mixed with the Pilgrims\, is on display as well. Plimoth Plantation is a vital look into the lives of our ancestors and the growth of America. \nPlease note: Any photographs taken cannot have commercial use without written consent from Plimoth Plantation. \nPlease note: The cost of your ticket does not include entrance to Plimoth Plantation. This Photo Walk will offer a wide variety of shooting scenarios\, including plants and flowers with an emphasis on macro photography\, sculptures\, vintage cars\, and more. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend.\nThe Heritage Museum and Gardens is “the largest public garden in Southern New England”\, with over 100 acres of beautifully kept grounds. In addition to the wide variety of trees\, shrubs\, flowers\, daylilies\, hostas\, herb\, and heather gardens\, the grounds also have historic indoor exhibits\, including one of classic cars and sculpture. Please make sure to read them prior to registering. \nWalk Description\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a photo walk through MIT in Cambridge and onto Memorial Drive overlooking the Charles. On the walk\, we will discuss Architectural Photography\, Image Composition\, Long Exposures\, and Black and White Photography. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. \nMIT is not only famous as a research institute and school\, but also for the stunning architecture that has been commissioned. These include the Landau Building (“The Wedge”)\, The Dreyfuss Building\, Simmons Hall (“The Sponge”)\, the Zesiger Center (“Z-Center”)\, the newly constructed Sean Collier Memorial\, and the Stata Center (pictured). We will discuss the many ways these pieces of architecture can be photographed in the evening and night skies. On this walk\, we will have numerous shooting opportunities from birds to flowers to landscapes and more! We may have a chance at some hummingbirds\, as well as other birds in the area\, and we will benefit from the flowers of the season. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend! \nHorn Pond is a wonderfully scenic area\, offering many outdoor activities such as hiking and bike riding. These same trails are an excellent place to explore many types of photographic opportunities\, emphasizing nature\, landscape\, and macro. On many of our walks\, the quality of day can positively or negatively affect how our images turn out. On this walk\, we will emphasize making the best out of any situation\, whether cloudy\, sunny or rainy (well\, not too rainy). SUMMARY:Hunt's Portrait Workshop: Natural Light (and Flash) Portraits in the Fall
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for another entry in our series of natural light portrait workshops where we vary it up by adding in flash! We will emphasize creating portraits using available light through subject placement and composition through the aid of diffusers and reflectors. We will then separately demonstrate reasons to add in flash.\nWe will begin photographing mid-day in the sunlight (and shade) and work to sunset. We will then utilize lower light techniques and photograph during twilight for some spectacular portrait results!\nFor this section\, you are welcome to bring your own flashes and light modifiers (soft boxes\, etc)\, but you also can use what we have with us as well. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. \nPlease note: At this time\, we do not have a specific meeting location. However\, the workshop will be happening north of Boston.
