DESCRIPTION:This workshop specifically illustrates and teaches students to understand flash\, how and why it works\, both on and off the camera. Specifically\, this class is geared at both students that are just starting out with flash\, as well as those that have been using flash\, but want to learn how to use it more effectively on the camera. Our workshop will emphasize how to best use the flash on-camera. The workshop will also cover light modifiers\, gels and an in-depth description of how to make it work\, including internal remote triggering. Even other times\, our attendees are flummoxed as to how to set up a tripod.\nBut no longer! This class is all about editing one of your images.\nLeading up to this class\, we will ask for 2-3 images (RAW\, if possible) from you in order to edit ONE of them in class. We will do this with each of our 6-8 attendees and in the end\, we will have discussed a whole slew of topics that will (hopefully) make you a better editor!\nWe are constantly asked: Who should take this class? What if you’re new to Lightroom? Yes- because you’ll see the possibilities in the program! What if you don’t use Lightroom? Sure! We will be using Lightroom\, but the concepts are very similar throughout other similar programs. What if you just use a cell phone or shoot only in JPEG? I don’t see why not! If you have great light\, there is a good chance of a great image. But what is great light\, how to make the best of the available light\, and what if you could have absolute control over the light? \nJoin us for a survey course in lighting\, with an emphasis on lighting for headshots. Discussed will be Quality of Light\, how to recognize it\, and how to control and modify it. We’ll start with available light\, how to control it with reflectors\, and how to augment it with camera flash. \nThen we will discuss how to take complete control of the lighting with studio grade lighting\, revisiting Quality of Light\, discussing the size of the light\, the direction of the light\, and the color of the light. Starting with one light\, then adding a second\, then third\, to achieve just the look you want. \nThe beauty of using studio flash is once you find the look or looks you like\, they are repeatable. Instead of worrying about lighting you can concentrate on posing and expressions.
