SUMMARY:Online: Tips & Tricks for Photographing Kids Inside & Out
DESCRIPTION:In response to COVID-19 and recommendations by the CDC of social distancing\, Hunt’s Photo Education is presenting our new series of online classes! These courses will be shorter (about 1 hour)\, online versions of many classes that we currently offer\, plus a few new ones\, and include Q&A at the end.\nBelow the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nLet’s face it: Photographing children can be tough work! They have boundless energy\, they don’t always listen to instructions\, and they do NOT want to stay in one place so that you can take precious photographic memories! This is compounded by how complicated photography can be. And then comes a quarantine order! It’s enough to make a photographer pull their hair out! But we’ve gotta stay cool and calm as child photographers! It has to be fun and childlike to make the experience truly amazing! So how do we do it and where do we start? \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson\, who has photographed both of his children every single day of their lives\, for some tips and tricks to get the best results possible. This workshop is part of a series that focuses on how to photograph toddlers and children. In this class\, we’ll diversify and talk about how to photograph kids indoors and outside\, both in a casual environment. Among other items\, this class will cover:\n•Inside: Using flash vs. natural light\n•Lens options and basic settings\n•The basics of photographing inside using flash\, including starting camera settings\n•How to create a natural environment\n•Tips and tricks on how to keep toddlers and children interested\, involved\, & engaged \nThis workshop primarily deals with working with children aged 2-6 but concepts can be applied to children of any age\, including those both young (and old) at heart! \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email a few days prior to the class time with that same information. \nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. The majority of the class–roughly 1 hour– will be a presentation on the topic\, followed by a short Q&A. During the class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Question box on the left hand side of the screen. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end. \n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this\, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. If handouts and PDFs are included\, we will send it out with the link for the video. \nCan’t attend the class? \nIf you can’t attend the class but still want to download the video\, no problem: Just sign up for the class! You don’t need to attend and we will send the video and PDF link the next day! \nWant to get this class after it’s been run?\nIf you want to purchase this or any other of the classes we have done\, you can certainly do so. Just send us an email at classes@huntsphoto.com and we can send you the invoice. (We prefer having folks in our classes\, but this option is available as well if you want to see it!) \n \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

SUMMARY:Online: Take that Flash off the Camera!
DESCRIPTION:Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nAsk any photographer using a flash– the best way to use your flash is to take it off the camera! With this\, you have the ability to control the size\, direction\, and quality of the light\, all elements that you cannot do when the flash is on the camera.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson as we dive into what is needed in taking the flash off camera. For this class\, we’ll be focusing on using your flash off camera while inside\, but we’ll mention the advantages of using it outside as well. Among other items\, we will discuss:\n•Diffusers and light modifiers\n•Where to place your lights (and your subject)\n•Different trigger options\n•Light meters\n•How to light for a variety of scenes \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. The majority of the class–roughly 1 hour– will be a presentation on the topic\, followed by a short Q&A. SUMMARY:Online: Beyond the Basics- Lenses: Choosing the Right Glass
DESCRIPTION:In response to COVID-19 and recommendations by the CDC of social distancing\, Hunt’s Photo Education is presenting our new series of online classes! (Hey! We wanted to do it anyway\, this just sped up the process!) These courses will be shorter (about 1 hour)\, online versions of many classes that we currently offer\, plus a few new ones\, and include Q&A at the end.\nBelow the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nThere are dozens of decisions to make before purchasing a lens or choosing one to add to your wishlist. Should you use a prime or zoom? Do you need a fast aperture? Why are some lenses so much more expensive? And why are some so heavy? There are even more basic questions worth addressing: What does each lens do? And there are some more complicated: Why would I want a 105mm lens vs. an 85mm lens for portraits? Join Hunt’s Photo Education as we walk you through all the things you should consider before purchasing a new lens. \nUnderstanding more about cameras and lenses is a necessity to improving your flexibility when photographing in a variety of situations. This course is designed to help you feel more comfortable about what lenses should be used in different situations. It is recommended as a follow-up to our Beginner Photography course. \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that you have signed up. About 24 hours prior to the class time\, we will send out an email with the weblink for you to follow as well as information on how to access the class online. (It’s pretty easy\, but we’ll walk you through it in a quick online video!) \nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. The majority of the class–roughly 1 hour– will be a presentation on the topic\, followed by a short Q&A. During the class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Chat box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end. \n \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

SUMMARY:Online: Portraits Outside Using Natural Light and Flash!
DESCRIPTION:Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nEveryone loves taking portraits in natural light\, especially when the circumstances are just right\, the overcast clouds have moved in\, the temperature is in the mid-70s\, all the hair and make-up has been done\, and the wild horses are galloping in the distance.\nOf course\, we’re being facetious- sometimes it can be that easy\, but not always. Sometimes\, it’s a great idea to use natural light for outdoor portraits. Sometimes\, we can find the perfect scenario lighting conditions\, but what if we can’t? Or what if we want to get a shot some place where the light is different?\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson as we discuss photographing portraits outdoors using both natural light and flash. We’ll begin by discussing what optimal conditions are for natural light portraits\, then add in the element of flash and when to use it\, and finish by specifically demonstrating how to set up your camera and flash\, off-camera! We’ll also discuss:\n•Diffusers and light modifiers\n•Where to place your lights (and your subject)\n•Different trigger options\n•Light meters\n•How to light for a variety of scenes \nIf you feel intimidated by using flash outdoors\, join us for a lot of fun! \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class.
