SUMMARY:Online: Panel Discussion- Photography Goals with Hunt's Photo Education (Free!)
DESCRIPTION:Monday February 1st\, 7-8:30pm EST • Online! \nPanelists: Hunt’s Photo Educators Don Toothaker\, Emily Hojnowski\, and Paul Nelson \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for an evening of discussion about setting and achieving goals in photography!\nOn Monday\, February 1st at 7pm\, Hunt’s Photo Educators Don Toothaker\, Emily Hojnowski\, and Paul Nelson will hold a panel discussion about photography goals. This is a topic that sounds a lot like a class we might hold at the start of the new year where we discuss our resolutions\, but it’s a bit different. In this course\, all three of our panelists will discuss not only their own personal photography goals and their current personal directions/intentions in the Hunt’s Photo Education department\, but also how we have looked to achieve those goals in the past! We hope that this panel discussion will help in giving insight into our plans for the future\, but also inspire others to work toward their own personal photography goals.\nWe will conclude the evening with a brief Q&A.\nJoin us for this relaxed\, fun evening with Hunt’s Photo Education! \n“You Are Being Recorded”\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. \nRegister below\nHaving trouble registering? Follow this link.

SUMMARY:Online: Why Your Prints Stink- A Funny Look at Bad Printing
DESCRIPTION:True story: Last night\, I went to go print a few photos. I booted up my computer and printer and three ink cartridges were empty. I replaced them\, found the image I wanted to print and clicked “print”\, but then I accidentally turned off my printer while loading the paper. When it booted back up\, another ink cartridge needed to be replaced! When I finally was able to print the image\, the colors were all wrong\, the print was dark\, and there were smudges on the side. Why do I even bother?! \nWhat amazes me is that I work with printers and printing all the time\, and so if I have these kinds of frustrations\, I can only imagine how the rest of the world feels! In this class\, we’ll discuss why your prints can stink\, specifically what you could have done that was wrong and what you could do better\, whether it’s on your personal printer or from an online or in-store photo lab; the importance of color management; and understanding what is user error vs. just a bad photo! (Sorry!) We’ll also talk a bit about the positive aspects of printing and what we can do to achieve the best results possible! Come have some fun with me\, Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson\, as I tear apart these printers limb from limb…or whatever. \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. The majority of the class–roughly 1 hour– will be a presentation on the topic\, followed by a short Q&A. During the class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Chat box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end. \nWant to get this class after it’s been run?– We have an online store where you can purchase all our previously run classes here: https://ebay.huntsphoto.com/buy-previous-courses/ \n \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Speedlights 101 and Beyond!
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a new Multi-Session Series session. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery! \nSpeedlights 101 and Beyond!\nThis class is all about two things: Learning how to use the basics of your flash on the camera and how (and why) to take the flash off the camera.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson as we discuss how to take pictures using a speedlight\, and make them look great\, no matter what the situation. We will discuss photographing people\, but also photographing product and flashes work. We’ll talk all about the basics\, including modes\, settings\, and more!\nWhether you own a flash and have no idea how to use it\, you want to take great photos at functions and family events that are in low light\, or you just want to learn how to add a flash into your repertoire\, this course is for you! \nIn week one\, we will look at the basic camera and flash settings when using the flash on the camera\, including light positioning. In week two\, we will get a bit more creative by adding in diffusion and reflectors. We will also work to refine flash positioning and camera settings to maximize efficiency. In week three\, we will demonstrate taking the flash off-camera and show some of the benefits of doing that. In week four\, we will tie together the whole process\, including how to properly edit photos. \nEach week we will have a general presentation and discussion about a topic and will present an assignment. You can submit for the assignment or just watch our weekly critiques of others–it’s up to you! We will also supplement the class with additional instructional videos. \nYou don’t need to know the inner workings of your flash to take this class! Photographers of all levels should apply\, even those at a basic level\, as we will cascade the learning process. You should have a speedlight\, aka a flash that is detachable from your camera. Flash triggers can be helpful. A reflector may also be helpful. Note: This is not a class about the on-board flash on your camera. In general\, we never recommend using the on-board flash (unless you absolutely have to). \nPhotographers should have an understanding of their camera and general exposure before taking this class. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure! During each class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Question box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end. \n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this\, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. If handouts and PDFs are included\, we will send it out with the link for the video. \nNo online classes should be shared and cannot be shared in a public environment\, including with camera clubs\nThe online content is the copyright of Hunt’s Photo Education and/or the Instructor. Please support our education team and instructors by not sharing this material! We appreciate your support\, and it’s thanks to that support that we are able to continue producing content! \n \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

SUMMARY:Online: The Prints and the Paper
DESCRIPTION:Here’s a fun fact about printing: What you see on your monitor is not what you will see on your print. You shouldn’t expect it to be\, since the print is its own entity. A print can be soft or harsh– smooth\, glossy\, flat– and evoke more than what a monitor can.\nIf that’s the case\, there is so much more to think about in printing: Color management and working environment\, general exposure and editing choices when considering printing\, black & white considerations\, paper options and editing choices for those options\, print sizing as well as finishing\, such as UV protection\, framing and matting. In this course\, we’ll be diving into all of these topics. While the emphasis of this course is on printing yourself\, these topics are also absolutely relevant if you are printing in a photo lab\, whether online or in-store. This is also an important look into the world of photo editing\, regardless of whether you print or not. Join us for an essential class on how to see things better in the world of printing!
