SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Speedlights 101 and Beyond!
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a new Multi-Session Series session. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery! \nSpeedlights 101 and Beyond!\nThis class is all about two things: Learning how to use the basics of your flash on the camera and how (and why) to take the flash off the camera.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson as we discuss how to take pictures using a speedlight\, and make them look great\, no matter what the situation. We will discuss photographing people\, but also photographing product and flashes work. We’ll talk all about the basics\, including modes\, settings\, and more!\nWhether you own a flash and have no idea how to use it\, you want to take great photos at functions and family events that are in low light\, or you just want to learn how to add a flash into your repertoire\, this course is for you! \nIn week one\, we will look at the basic camera and flash settings when using the flash on the camera\, including light positioning. In week two\, we will get a bit more creative by adding in diffusion and reflectors. We will also work to refine flash positioning and camera settings to maximize efficiency. In week three\, we will demonstrate taking the flash off-camera and show some of the benefits of doing that. In week four\, we will tie together the whole process\, including how to properly edit photos. \nEach week we will have a general presentation and discussion about a topic and will present an assignment. You can submit for the assignment or just watch our weekly critiques of others–it’s up to you! We will also supplement the class with additional instructional videos. \nYou don’t need to know the inner workings of your flash to take this class! Photographers of all levels should apply\, even those at a basic level\, as we will cascade the learning process. You should have a speedlight\, aka a flash that is detachable from your camera. Flash triggers can be helpful. A reflector may also be helpful. Note: This is not a class about the on-board flash on your camera. In general\, we never recommend using the on-board flash (unless you absolutely have to). \nPhotographers should have an understanding of their camera and general exposure before taking this class. \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure! During each class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Question box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end. \n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this\, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. If handouts and PDFs are included\, we will send it out with the link for the video. \nNo online classes should be shared and cannot be shared in a public environment\, including with camera clubs\nThe online content is the copyright of Hunt’s Photo Education and/or the Instructor. Please support our education team and instructors by not sharing this material! We appreciate your support\, and it’s thanks to that support that we are able to continue producing content! \n \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

SUMMARY:Online: The Printed Vision- Subtle Smoothness of Matte
DESCRIPTION:Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run.\nAbout The Printed Vision Series\nThe printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product\, which is the purpose behind the Printed Vision Series.\nEach Printed Vision topic will meet for two sessions. In the first session\, we will discuss the topic and elaborate on editing with examples. This will include discussion of exposure\, dynamic range and color\, but also deeper points\, such as noise reduction\, image sharpening and grain. In between sessions 1 and 2\, attendees will independently process 1-2 images and submit them to the instructor for printing. We will print one of the two images leading into the second session and discuss some of the challenges we face in printing them.\nYou do not need to produce a new image for this class and can go into your archives to print\, but you are welcome to go out into the field and create something new based on the topic! \nThis Month’s Printed Vision Session: The Subtle Smoothness of Matte\nTo someone that doesn’t print\, there are two types of paper–Matte and Glossy. Often\, people refer to Matte as the “less shiny” surface. In reality\, there are so many variations to Matte paper\, a surface that has no glare\, sheen\, and little reflectivity. But within this paper surface is a thing of beauty\, a subtle smoothness that\, when edited properly\, can create an almost three-dimensional quality.\n We will have an instructional online presentation on March 25th from 7-8pm and will reconvene for our Printed Image Review on April 8th from 7-9pm. You will have that time period in between to photograph and/or edit your images. In the end\, you will receive a 13×19″ print on fine art paper. In the class\, we will be using a variety of paper options\, including Moab\, Hahnemuhle\, and Canson Fine Art papers. (Please note: The cost of a 12×18 or 13×19 print on fine art paper is $35-$40; the cost of this class includes the cost of that print!) \nReceiving Your Print\nAfter the class\, your print can either be mailed to you or picked up at one of our Hunt’s Photo store locations. \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. \nRegister here\n*Please note: We have been experiencing issues with registration on the Safari web browser\, so you may want to consider using an alternative browser such as Google Chrome or Firefox. SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Taking Your Flash Off the Camera
DESCRIPTION:Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for our Multi-Session Series. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery! \nTaking Your Flash Off the Camera\nAny photographer that uses a flash will tell you: You’ll get the best results when you take it off the camera. But why? And what do you look for in your imagery? What camera and flash settings do we use? What kind of triggers do you need and how do you use them? How do you integrate your flash in an outdoor scene? How do you use it in a studio environment? How do we create dramatic lighting? How can we create soft lighting or contrasty lighting? What about diffusers and what’s a gobo?\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education as we answer all of these questions and more through a series of presentations\, discussions\, critiques\, and assignments. ! Whether you’re a portrait photographer or a still life photographer\, this class will help you get a mastery of lighting with your flash off the camera. This is an excellent continuation of our Speedlights 101 course. \nEach week we will have a general presentation and discussion about a topic and will present an assignment. You can submit for the assignment or just watch our weekly critiques of others–it’s up to you! We will also supplement the class with additional instructional videos AND lighting diagrams (for test shots) which we will discuss in class. \nYou don’t need to be a professional to take this course\, or even know advanced concepts of Photoshop\, nor the inner workings of your flash. Photographers of all levels should apply\, as we will cascade the learning process. We do recommend having either Adobe Lightroom or Capture One editing software\, as well as Adobe Photoshop; if you plan to submit images\, you should have flash triggers; a reflector will also be helpful.\nPhotographers should have an understanding of exposure before taking this class. \nGet excited to use your flash and join us for a fun time! \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. These papers are made from a majority of these materials which require minimal maintenance\, grow quickly and don’t need any pesticides\, and use less water. They are thus more sustainable than the majority of papers on the market and provide a unique look at the future of digital printing.\nIn this session\, we will discuss these papers\, their advantages\, and what images work best on them. Our instructional online presentation will be held on April 21st (the day before Earth Day!) from 7-8pm and we will reconvene for our Printed Image Review on Tuesday May 4th from 7-9pm. You will have that time period in between to photograph and/or edit your images. In the end\, you will receive a 13×19″ print on fine art paper. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. \nRegister here\n***Having trouble registering? SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Taking Your Flash Off the Camera
DESCRIPTION:Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for our Multi-Session Series.
