DESCRIPTION:Printing your photos will make you a better photographer. The first step to creating a great print is by understanding how to create a great photograph in the field.\nCapture-To-Print is an intermediate workshop that focuses not only on photography\, but also editing and printing!  Half photo workshop\, half editing and printing\, we will take you through the whole process–from Capture to Print— to demonstrate what is important in the field\, how to effectively process photos\, and why printing is a necessity.\nWe will begin at Marginal Way & Perkins Cove in Ogunquit\, Maine for sunrise. We will emphasize how to get the best results in the field for the best end result\, including focus\, exposure\, and more. At 9am\, we will break from shooting and make our way back to the classroom at our S. Portland location\, about 45 minutes away. We will reconvene at 10:30am. (Attendees are encouraged to get breakfast in the meantime.)\nWe will then transition from photographing to editing\, which will include discussion of certain techniques. Attendees are encouraged to bring their computers–laptops or all-in-ones are fine (iMacs are welcome)–in order to do their own editing. Attendees should have Adobe Lightroom and/or Photoshop on their computer or a comparable program. We will be available to help with the processing of images during this time. Shortly after noon\, we will view these edits\, critique\, and discuss them with the rest of the class while also creating 13×19″ prints.\nThis will be a fun and challenging workshop that will walk you through the full process of creating a photograph. The process of printing is integral to developing one’s photographic vision. \nApproximate schedule for the day:\n5:15am- Meet at Marginal Way\, Ogunquit\, ME. Photograph sunrise and the area around it.\n9:15am- Break for travel and breakfast\n10:30am- Reconvene at Hunt’s Photo\, South Portland. Begin editing.\n12:30pm- Review\, critique\, and printing \n\nIf you are attending this workshop\, we will send out more specific instructions to you a few days prior to the workshop. DESCRIPTION:For ages\, darkroom printing was an art form that was destined only for those that had a darkroom. Now they practically give digital printers away\, and what darkroom techniques were sequestered to your basement can now be duplicated in a corner office.\nBut Digital Printing\, while simple in concept\, has a myriad number of curiosities and questions associated with it. Among the issues printers run into are color correction\, proper exposure\, ability to utilize multiple papers\, understanding how to edit for print\, how to print in black and white\, and why and when to use certain tools. In this course\, we will answer these questions\, as well as refer back to some of the more basic elements of digital printing\, including ICC profiles\, monitor calibration\, and more!\nThis class is for anyone that has set up their printer and understands some of the basic concept of printing\, but is having issues producing consistent results\, or wants to go further in understanding how to achieve the best printing results! We love printing\, and we want to share that love of printing with you! You do not need to own a printer\, but it helps. We recommend Canon or Epson. \nWhile the time is limited\, we invite you to bring one or two potential images with you (on a memory card or thumb drive) that may be used in the class for demonstration.
