SUMMARY:Capture to Print ft. the Lighthouses of Portland
DESCRIPTION:Capture-To-Print is an intermediate workshop that focuses not only on photography\, but also editing and printing!  Half photo workshop\, half editing and printing\, we will take you through the whole process–from Capture to Print— to demonstrate what is important in the field\, how to effectively process photos\, and why printing is a necessity. \nOn this version of Capture to Print\, we will have a late afternoon/sunset photo walk covering three of Portland\, Maine’s most photogenic lighthouses. We’ll start at Bug Light Park to photograph the beloved Portland Breakwater Lighthouse\, also known as Bug Light\, before we head a couple of blocks over to Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse\, on the campus of Southern Maine Community College. Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse is also the site of Fort Preble\, a military fort which was in use from 1802 to 1906. We’ll explore the many opportunities this location offers\, and then head another few miles west to Cape Elizabeth to capture the sunset at Portland Head Lighthouse. Portland Head is located on the grounds of Fort Williams Park\, an old military fort dating back to the Spanish American War. We will explore the grounds and various vantage points on the lighthouse\, and end up in one of the classic spots for sunset.  \nThe next morning\, we will then transition from photographing to editing. Attendees are encouraged to bring their computers–laptops or all-in-ones are fine (iMacs are welcome)–in order to do their own editing. Attendees should have Adobe Lightroom and/or Photoshop on their computer or a comparable program. We will be available to help with the processing of images during this time. Shortly after noon\, we will view these edits\, critique\, and discuss them with the rest of the class while also creating 12×18″ prints.\nThis will be a fun and challenging workshop that will walk you through the full process of creating a photograph. The process of printing is integral to developing one’s photographic vision. \nApproximate schedule for the day:\nFriday\, 4pm- Meet at Bug Light Park. We will photograph there and the other two lighthouses for the evening.\nSaturday\, 8pm- End for the day\nSaturday 10am- Reconvene at Hunt’s Photo\, S. Portland. SUMMARY:Hunt's Portrait Workshop: Portraits in Portland\, Using Natural Light & Flash!
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education as we continue our portrait workshop sessions by mixing natural light and flash! On these workshops\, we will emphasize creating portraits using available light through subject placement and composition through the aid of diffusers and reflectors\, but then explain when and why to utilize flash\, and how we can achieve extraordinary results with a little bit of knowledge! Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. \nOn this workshop\, we will utilize iconic Portland Head Light. Portland Head Light is truly a beautiful location\, with a great deal of variety and depth. There’s the lighthouse\, of course\, but there’s also the beach area\, old buildings\, rocky areas\, and a small garden\, all of which makes Portland Head Light an easy location to choose for portraits\, from engagement sessions to senior portraits\, and even fashion.  We will begin this workshop basic and make our way up\, going to different areas to get different effects.\nWe will also integrate in a number of techniques with flash. You do not need to own a flash for this workshop\, but it certainly doesn’t hurt to own one and have an interest in using it! We will integrate in a little bit of flash and end utilizing High Speed Sync (or similar techniques) in our last hour of shooting. \nFor anyone interested in improving working with subjects in natural light situations as well as dabbling in outdoor flash\, this workshop is an excellent opportunity!  \nYou may bring your own gear\, including reflectors and speedlights\, but we will begin with gear that anyone can use\, including:\n-Basic reflectors\n-A Variety of brands of Speedlights\n-Phottix & Pocket Wizard Triggers\n-Westcott & Phottix Softboxes\n-Rogue Flashbender products \nWhat to bring:\n-Camera with fully charged battery\n-Memory cards\n-For lenses\, consider bringing lenses between 50mm and 100mm. Prime lenses with low apertures are a great option\, but zoom lenses that fit this range will also work fine.

SUMMARY:Hunt’s Photo Workshop: Using On-Camera Filters\, ft. Nubble Light
DESCRIPTION:In the age of film photography\, filters were used to great effect. Because darkrooms were less accessible for editing (than editing in the digital age)\, filters were used to “get it right in camera”. Despite all the editing programs available today\, it is still best to “get it right in camera”\, and certain filters still produce vastly superior effects that cannot be achieved by post-processing alone. \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education’s Don Toothaker & Ron Phillips for a hands-on photography workshop designed to help attendees create better images by utilizing long-exposure. We will start with a classroom session (location TBD) explaining the different filter types and their uses\, as well as examples of when and why to use them. Circular Polarizers\, Neutral Density Filters\, and ND Graduated Filters will all be covered. After the classroom session\, we will break and reconvene at Nubble Light to put into practice the filters and techniques. DESCRIPTION:Old Orchard Beach is a premiere location along the coast of Maine for photography. A 7-mile stretch of land\, there are many unique and picturesque locations along the coast\, as well as wonderful seaside shops. Join photographers Hunt’s Photo Education on a late afternoon/sunset walk of Old Orchard Beach. On the walk\, we will discuss numerous aspects involving sunset\, including exposure\, composition\, and how to capture the vibrancy of the scene during sunset. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. \nEmerging Series- A Guideline for Photo Walks during the era of COVID-19\nAs the COVID lockdown ends and social restrictions begin to ease\, we have decided to start offering our popular Hunt’s Photo Walks again.\nHunt’s Photo Education remains dedicated to the health and safety of every single attendee\, student\, and customer\, first and foremost. We also are committed to the best possible learning experience.
