DESCRIPTION:In response to COVID-19 and recommendations by the CDC of social distancing\, Hunt’s Photo Education is presenting our new series of online classes! (Hey! We wanted to do it anyway\, this just sped up the process!) These courses will be shorter (about 1 hour)\, online versions of many classes that we currently offer\, plus a few new ones\, and include Q&A at the end.\nBelow the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nThe time has come to tame digital printing! With the low price of excellent quality digital printers\, what was once an elite craft is now much more manageable for the average photographer. This course briefly covers the basics questions of printing\, including editing suggestions\, color management tools and settings\, paper styles and finishes\, printing recommendations\, and troubleshooting on how to avoid those nasty pitfalls that can occur along the way. Whether you use Canon\, Epson or HP\, the concepts in this course remain the same.\nThis class also focuses on printing using Lightroom specifically. Being able to print from Lightroom allows you to complete all of your tasks specifically in one rather than multiple programs. Even if you do not own or use Lightroom\, the concepts within this class are fairly global and these concepts can be translated to other programs. We will also discuss printing using these other programs. \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that you have signed up. About 24 hours prior to the class time\, we will send out an email with the weblink for you to follow as well as information on how to access the class online. (It’s pretty easy\, but we’ll walk you through it in a quick online video!) \nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. The majority of the class–roughly 1 hour– will be a presentation on the topic\, followed by a short Q&A. During the class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Chat box if you have specific questions as they are asked. Layers are really easy to use and will give you a high level of precision in your editing. By learning about our best uses of the Brush tool\, Blending Modes\, and Opacity we’ll cover some essential retouching techniques with layers that you’ll use on every photo you edit. \nIf you are unfamiliar with the basics and workflow in Photoshop\, we recommend considering taking our Photoshop Mini-Session- Basics and Workflow! \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. DESCRIPTION:Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nThere is so much to think about in photography– from settings and composition to editing and post processing and so much more– that it can be easy to get lost within your images. Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a chance to discuss one of your images in a review and critique session\, where we will discuss many of these topics and how they work in your image. Our Hunt’s Photo Education Team firmly believes that presenting personal work and observing peer work is paramount to the growth and development of your photographic vision. \nThis Week’s Topic\nFor this week’s topic\, all attendees will submit an Edited Portrait. There are a number of moving parts to portraits. And often when we take portraits\, we tell ourselves\, “Don’t worry- we’ll fix it in post!”\nWell\, in this image review/critique\, we’ll look specifically at edited portraits. So\, what kind of portrait do we want? Well\, they can be really heavily edited photos\, or photos that have just been tweeked and fine-tuned! We’ll be looking at them from a few perspectives: How was the photo processed for exposure\, color\, and contrast? Was there additional processing that was needed\, or was the photo “overbaked”?\nFor this critique\, we ask that you export the image as a DNG\, or save the RAW file with a XMP sidecar file so that we can reedit the image\, if need be. (If you’re unsure what a DNG file is\, watch this short video about exporting as DNG. If you cannot save the file in either formats\, please submit an edited and unedited version so we can reedit\, if need be.) We can look at these images in either Lightroom\, Capture One\, or Adobe Photoshop.\nWe encourage photographers of all levels to consider this course\, as it is as valuable to seasoned professional as it is to a beginner! Join us for this exciting opportunity to share your photographic work with the community! \nThis class will be a small group of up to 10-15 attendees. Upon registering\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include a link in order to upload images to us for the image review. We will also send out a reminder email a few days prior. Make sure to leave yourself enough time to upload your photo! \nRegarding uploading of images\nFor this critique\, we ask that you export a DNG from Lightroom/Capture One or save as the original RAW with the XMP sidecar file. DNG is a RAW format that also embeds in all the changes you have made previously to the image! Since it’s RAW\, we can still make “lossless” changes to the DNG file\, so that’s very helpful.
