SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Mastering Manual Mode
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery! \nMastering Manual Mode\nLearning about photography can be a real challenge. There are so many pieces to the puzzle of photography\, some of which use confusing terminology. For this reason\, we often start newcomers off using the Priority Modes because it’s “easier”. In reality\, these priority modes are just a short-term solution. It’s important to fully understand the “why” and “how” of your camera settings\, and learning to master manual is an excellent way to do so. \nThis Multi-Session Series will focus on Mastering Manual Mode. In week 1\, we’ll cover the technical side of aperture\, shutter\, and ISO. We’ll also discuss metering modes\, reading your meter\, and understanding histograms. In week 2\, we’ll learn to control depth of field\, focusing\, and how lens choice affects aperture choice. By week 3\, we’ll discuss how to use shutter speed effectively to either blur your motion or freeze your action. We’ll talk about shooting at night and in low light. We’ll also talk about ISO and how it controls image noise. In week 4\, we’ll put everything together by discussing dynamic range\, white balance\, and how to get the correct exposure in camera every time. We’ll also answer the most important question of all: which change should I make to achieve my desired results? \nEach week Emily will give an assignment to help further the topics covered in that week’s class. Students are encouraged to send in assignments that will be individually critiqued by Emily each week. This is a great opportunity to enhance your exposure skills while getting direct feedback on your week. \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure! During each class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Question box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end. \n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this\, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. If handouts and PDFs are included\, we will send it out with the link for the video. \nNo online classes should be shared and cannot be shared in a public environment\, including with camera clubs\nThe online content is the copyright of Hunt’s Photo Education and/or the Instructor. Please support our education team and instructors by not sharing this material! We appreciate your support\, and it’s thanks to that support that we are able to continue producing content! \nRegister Here\n*Please note: To register\, you will need to disable pop-up blockers in your web browser. If you are unsure\, you can watch this short video or go to this website to learn how to disable pop-up blockers. \n \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Creative Flash Off-Camera for Outdoor Portraits
DESCRIPTION:Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery! \nCreative Flash Off-Camera for Outdoor Portraits\nUsing a flash when photographing portraits outside can prove to be an extremely effective method of creating beautiful portraits. But how do we use flash off-camera and under what circumstances? Where do we place the subject in relation to the natural light\, where do we place the flash\, and what sort of diffusers do we need? Finally\, what settings do we need for the flash and what settings do we need for the camera? \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education as we continue our Multi-Session Series with portraits and flash! In this class\, we will answer the above questions and more through a series of presentations\, discussions\, critiques\, and assignments. \nIn week one\, we will look at where and when we can integrate flash into our photographs\, as well as how to effectively work it in with flash settings and positioning and camera settings. In week two\, we will look back at images from week 1 and discuss editing techniques. We will work to refine flash positioning and subject posing to maximize effectiveness. In week three\, we will work on alternative flash positioning\, integrating a flash in as a secondary or effect light and on additional techniques\, such as high-speed sync. In week four\, we will tie together the whole process\, from setup to photograph to editing to finalized images. \nEach week we will have a general presentation and discussion about a topic and will present an assignment. You can submit for the assignment or just watch our weekly critiques of others–it’s up to you! We will also supplement the class with additional instructional videos AND lighting diagrams (for test shots) which we will discuss in class. \nYou don’t need to be a professional to take this course\, or even know advanced concepts of Photoshop\, nor the inner workings of your flash. Photographers of all levels should apply\, as we will cascade the learning process. We do recommend having either Adobe Lightroom or Capture One editing software\, as well as Adobe Photoshop; if you plan to submit images\, you should have flash triggers; a reflector will also be helpful.\nPhotographers should have an understanding of exposure before taking this class. \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. DESCRIPTION:Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. \nEditing in Adobe Lightroom\nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nIn week one\, we’ll talk about file types and adjustment ranges using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. In week two\, we’ll dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic
And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. These changes will help make your images pop. Finally\, in week three\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including Sharpening\, HDR\, Pano stitching and more.\nEach week\, we will give an assignment and students will upload their edited photos prior to the next class. We will\, by and large\, be working with your images in the class. \nThis class is strongly recommended for anyone either looking to just get started with editing\, or to fine-tune your editing skills! \nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information. SUMMARY:Online: Image Review/Critique- Landscapes
DESCRIPTION:There is so much to think about in photography– from settings and composition to editing and post processing and so much more– that it can be easy to get lost within your images. Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a chance to discuss one of your images in a review and critique session\, where we will discuss many of these topics and how they work in your image. Our Hunt’s Photo Education Team firmly believes that presenting personal work and observing peer work is paramount to the growth and development of your photographic vision. \nThis Week’s Topic\nFor this week’s topic\, all attendees will submit an image for review or critique of a landscape. While we’re in one of the most spectacular times of the year for landscape photography\, this image can be taken at any time of the year. During the review and critique\, we will discuss image composition\, exposure\, focus\, and all the settings associated with the image. You are welcome to edit the image you submit or leave it unedited.\nIf you are editing exporting from Lightroom or Capture One\, we ask that you export the image as a DNG\, or save the RAW file with a XMP sidecar file so that we can reedit the image\, if need be. (If you’re unsure what a DNG file is\, watch this short video about exporting as DNG. And if you cannot save the file in either formats and choose to submit an edited photo\, please submit an edited and unedited version so we can reedit\, if need be.)\nWe encourage photographers of all levels to consider this course\, as it is as valuable to seasoned professional as it is to a beginner! \nThis class will be a small group of up to 10-15 attendees. Upon registering\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include a link in order to upload images to us for the image review. We will also send out a reminder email a few days prior. Make sure to leave yourself enough time to upload your photo! \nJoin us for this exciting opportunity to share your photographic work with the community! \nRegarding uploading of images\nFor this critique\, we ask that you export a DNG from Lightroom/Capture One or save as the original RAW with the XMP sidecar file. DNG is a RAW format that also embeds in all the changes you have made previously to the image! Since it’s RAW\, we can still make “lossless” changes to the DNG file\, so that’s very helpful. We’ve made a short video about how to do it that you can watch here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ll87ah4kapx0zul/exporting-to-dng.mp4?dl=0 \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \nLayout of the class\nOur course layout is simple. This course will last about 2 hours\, depending on quantity of attendees. During that time\, all attendees will be muted. When we critique your image\, we will unmute you\, so please have a working microphone on your computer/tablet.\nDuring the class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Chat box if you have specific questions as they are asked. \nCan’t attend the class? \nIf you can’t attend the class but still want to download the video\, no problem: Just sign up for the class! You don’t need to attend and we will send the video and PDF link the next day! \nWant to get this class after it’s been run?\nIf you want to purchase this or any other of the classes we have done\, you can certainly do so. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery! \nSpeedlights 101 and Beyond!\nThis class is all about two things: Learning how to use the basics of your flash on the camera and how (and why) to take the flash off the camera.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson as we discuss how to take pictures using a speedlight\, and make them look great\, no matter what the situation. We will discuss photographing people\, but also photographing product and flashes work. We’ll talk all about the basics\, including modes\, settings\, and more!\nWhether you own a flash and have no idea how to use it\, you want to take great photos at functions and family events that are in low light\, or you just want to learn how to add a flash into your repertoire\, this course is for you! \nIn week one\, we will look at the basic camera and flash settings when using the flash on the camera\, including light positioning. In week two\, we will get a bit more creative by adding in diffusion and reflectors. We will also work to refine flash positioning and camera settings to maximize efficiency. In week three\, we will demonstrate taking the flash off-camera and show some of the benefits of doing that. In week four\, we will tie together the whole process\, including how to properly edit photos. \nEach week we will have a general presentation and discussion about a topic and will present an assignment. You can submit for the assignment or just watch our weekly critiques of others–it’s up to you! We will also supplement the class with additional instructional videos. \nYou don’t need to know the inner workings of your flash to take this class! Photographers of all levels should apply\, even those at a basic level\, as we will cascade the learning process. You should have a speedlight\, aka a flash that is detachable from your camera. Flash triggers can be helpful. A reflector may also be helpful. Note: This is not a class about the on-board flash on your camera. In general\, we never recommend using the on-board flash (unless you absolutely have to). \nPhotographers should have an understanding of their camera and general exposure before taking this class. \n \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic
DESCRIPTION:Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery! And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. \nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. SUMMARY:Online: Image Review/Critique- Black & White
DESCRIPTION:Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nThere is so much to think about in photography– from settings and composition to editing and post processing and so much more– that it can be easy to get lost within your images. \nThis Week’s Topic\nFor this week’s topic\, all attendees will submit an edited image in black & white. This can either be an image that you have edited that you feel confident in or one in which you have edited and are looking to get a second opinion. We ask that you export the image as a DNG\, or save the RAW file with a XMP sidecar file so that we can reedit the image\, if need be. (If you’re unsure what a DNG file is\, watch this short video about exporting as DNG. If you cannot save the file in either formats\, please submit an edited and unedited version so we can reedit\, if need be.)\nThis is a great chance to look deeper into your images\, as we will really be looking into the specifics of what to set in the editing process and why. We encourage photographers of all levels to consider this course\, as it is as valuable to seasoned professional as it is to a beginner! \nThis class will be a small group of up to 10-15 attendees. Upon registering\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include a link in order to upload images to us for the image review. We will also send out a reminder email a few days prior. Make sure to leave yourself enough time to upload your photo! We’ve made a short video about how to do it that you can watch here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ll87ah4kapx0zul/exporting-to-dng.mp4?dl=0 \nJoin us for this exciting opportunity to share your photographic work with the community! \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information. Just send us an email at classes@huntsphoto.com and we can send you the invoice. (We prefer having folks in our classes\, but this option is available as well if you want to see it!) \n \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic
DESCRIPTION:Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery! And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. SUMMARY:Online: Digital Photography Basics 1- Exposure\, The Big Three Settings\, Modes\, and More
DESCRIPTION:In response to COVID-19 and recommendations by the CDC of social distancing\, Hunt’s Photo Education is presenting our new series of online classes! (Hey! We wanted to do it anyway\, this just sped up the process!) These courses will be shorter (about 1 hour)\, online versions of many classes that we currently offer\, plus a few new ones\, and include Q&A at the end.\nBelow the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nDo you have a new DSLR that you have no idea how to use? Have you had your camera for 6 months\, a year or more and want to take better pictures? Are you putting your camera away because you just don’t see the difference between your expensive camera and your smart phone? \nLearn to fully utilize your cameras potentials! Harness your creative power with photography! \nThis is one of the first classes to consider when you’re getting started with your Digital SLR or Mirrorless camera. We will discuss Exposure (how light works with the camera)\, the Big Three Settings (Aperture\, Shutter Speed\, & ISO)\, how they affect your picture and how to set them\, and what mode to set it to on your camera! We’ll discuss changing depth-of-field (controlling what’s in focus in the background\, stopping or blurring the action in your scene\, and many other basic picture-taking techniques. We recommend taking this class prior to Digital Photography Basics 2\, which is the next logical step! \nJoin us to start learning about Digital Photography! \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that you have signed up. About 24 hours prior to the class time\, we will send out an email with the weblink for you to follow as well as information on how to access the class online. (It’s pretty easy\, but we’ll walk you through it in a quick online video!) \nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. The majority of the class–roughly 1 hour– will be a presentation on the topic\, followed by a short Q&A. During the class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Chat box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end. \n \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Speedlights 101 and Beyond!
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a new Multi-Session Series session.
And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. \n \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Speedlights 101 and Beyond!
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a new Multi-Session Series session. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!
