We strive to obtain the most recent and superior gear\, sometimes just so we can play with new toys. \nThere is nothing wrong with that\, but photography goes beyond the equipment we use\, and it can be hard at times not to lose focus that we are creatives first and foremost. \nWith this approach in mind\, Sony Artisan of Imagery Thibault Roland will use his own work to introduce the concepts behind some of his signature techniques such as long exposure\, infrared and tilt/shift photography. He will discuss how they can be used in order to create unique looking images and effects\, and how a change in perspective with respect to equipment can drastically improve your own photographic work. \nAbout Thibault: Born in France in 1981\, Sony Artisan of Imagery Thibault Roland is a scientist by training and fine art photographer. Thanks to his rigorous background he became a Master of techniques such as long exposure\, tilt/shift and infrared photography. During the class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Chat box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end. \n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! SUMMARY:Online: Special Guest Series- Photography Planning - Increase your Odds of Success with Keith Bauer
DESCRIPTION:Monday January 24th\, 7-9pm EST • Online! \nSpecial Guest Instructor: Keith Bauer \nWant to get this class after it’s been run?– We have an online store where you can purchase all our previously run classes here: https://ebay.huntsphoto.com/buy-previous-courses/ \nBelow the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nClass description\nOf course\, we all try to keep our camera close so we’re ready for the unexpected\, but having a plan in place can increase your chances of getting that next great image!\nPlanning today with powerful mobile apps can make sure you will be in the right place at the right time. When will the sun hit at sunset exactly where we want it? How can we find those best locations? How can we plan for superior milky way photos? Other elements include sunrise/sunset times and angles\, moonrise and moonset angles\, as well as phases of the moon\, dark sky nights for photography and Milky Way location\, planning for lunar and solar eclipses\, horizon for any place on the planet\, and many more. Photographer Keith Bauer will show some great examples of “being ready” because a plan was in place and how to use his favorite planning app.\nVery Important: This course will be presented using a specific app – PlanIt Pro. There are other similar apps\, such as PhotoPills\, Photo Ephemeris\, and more. While Keith will be discussing the importance of PlanIt Pro and its features\, please note that our emphasis will be on the planning elements–what to consider and look for before going into the field– and how these apps can help achieve that. \nAbout Keith: Keith is an Albuquerque New Mexico based nature photographer and photographic instructor. His extensive background in photography started with traditional black & white darkroom work\, continued through college in a professional studio specializing in portraits\, weddings and commercial photography and has continued with his passion for nature photography and education.\nWith an academic background in computer science\, the marriage of computing and digital photography came easily. Keith took advantage of this to become a digital post processing specialist and instructor. His special areas of interest in photography are wildlife and nature\, landscape and travel photography creating images of simple\, yet compelling stories.\nHe is co-author of the popular e-book LightRoom for the Nature Photographer\, and the soon to be released video e-book Complete Video Guide to Lightroom for Nature Photography\, leads workshops with the primary goal of enhancing participants photographic skills\, and enjoying the process of capturing that next great image. \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. There is no photographic media that can capture the full tonal range that our eyes can see. Thanks to the digital world we can now create full tonal images through HDR. HDR imagery is the process of capturing multiple images at various exposures (bracketing) and then using software to combine these images to create a High Dynamic Range (HDR) image. Join Lewis Kemper to learn how to use HDR to create realistic dynamic full tonal range images. \nAbout Lewis: LEWIS KEMPER is widely recognized as a photographer\, writer\, and instructor\, lecturing throughout the United States. He currently is a Contributing Editor to Outdoor Photographer. His books include “Ancient Ancestors of the Southwest”\, published by Graphic Arts Center Publishing; “Capturing the Light”\, which won the People’s Choice Awards in Fine Art in the 2009 Photography.Book.Now competition; and “Photographing Yosemite Digital Field Guide”\, which was voted in the top 20 field guides. Lewis’ training videos have been used by thousands of photographers\, helping them with their photographic and post-processing skills. SUMMARY:Online: Special Guest Series- Virtual Portraits\, Lighting\, and Wireless Tethering with Walter van Dusen
DESCRIPTION:Please join Massachusetts based Photographer Walter van Dusen\, M.Photog.Cr.\, CPP as he demonstrates the relevance of continuous lighting\, mirrorless cameras and why he captures wirelessly to his computer. Walter will share his complete lighting system showing you how to set up the lights and adjust them for each subject. The workshop begins with sharing which lights he selects for his on-location portraiture\, which mirrorless camera he uses and why\, then live capture of several portraits followed by answering your questions. Walter is very high energy and will pack a lot of content into this one-hour\, virtual\, hands-on workshop. \nAbout Walter: Photography has been a passion of Walter’s since high school. While stationed onboard a fast attack submarine\, he graduated from periscope photography school at the top of his class. Fortunate to visit many countries\, his camera is always on his person. It was then that Walter began attending photography school\, workshops\, seminars\, mentoring sessions\, and assisted other photographers to gain as much knowledge and experience as possible. He fell in love with portraiture early in his professional career\, continues to educate himself and strives to perfect his craft every day. Walter has set a goal for himself: go beyond flat light and add more dimension to each portrait. Achieving this goal results in a confident and powerful portrayal of each subject. \nWalter is a Four-Time Winner of Connecticut Photographer of the Year\, two-time Connecticut and New England Best in Show Wedding Album\, has multiple Professional Photographers of America Loan Collection Prints\, the recipient of five Connecticut and New England Court of Honor Awards\, the recipient of 6 Kodak Gallery Award Wedding Images\, was awarded two Fuji Masterpieces for Prints awards and most recently earned second-highest print case at the Massachusetts Professional Photographers Annual Convention along with several awards. SUMMARY:Online: Special Guest Series- All Things Music Photography with Adam Elmakias
DESCRIPTION:Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \n \nDo you want to learn the secrets of concert photography? You’ve come to the right place. What’s up. Adam Elmakias here. I am a music photographer based out of Los Angeles\, California. I have spent over half my life convincing people I am a music photographer\, and shooting for another 15 years. I am here to teach you what I know\, how I know it\, and how you can know it too. The music industry is the Wild West of the photography industry. It’s a bunch of social skills combined with learning how to be a photographer along the way. Come hang out\, I’ll teach you how I approach the industry and how I believe you should as well. All of our lives are different and that is an important thing to recognize when it comes to music photography. So\, while concerts are on pause\, let’s learn some new information. Because once they are back – people are going to want to see some photos of them. \nAbout Adam Elmakias: Adam Elmakias is a worldwide music photographer and Sigma Ambassador\, traveling with bands and photographing them on and off stage. Originally from Wisconsin\, Adam spent most of his teenage years going to concerts and taking photos from the crowd. Through a mix of networking (and what some would argue is borderline harassment)\, he eventually wiggled himself on tour with a few bands. Fast forward 12 years\, and Adam has spent more time on the road than in his living room! \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. SUMMARY:Online: Special Guest Series- Dragging the Shutter with Bobbi Lane
DESCRIPTION:Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nThis presentation explores all the various techniques of “Dragging the shutter” or balancing light the exposure of strobe and ambient light sources in one photo. For example: taking a photo of someone outside at night by using a portable flash and also capturing the city lights in the background. There is quite a lot to know about this technique because it involves color balance as well as exposure balance. Bobbi explains how to get the proper balance of exposure between the two light sources-flash and ambient- then how to creatively play by shaking or spinning the camera\, zooming the lens\, panning and more. The flash will light the subject and freeze any motion\, and then moving the camera will blur the background in a variety of ways. This technique can be used for people or cars at twilight\, product shots\, flowers outside\, etc. It’s a creative and fun way to make your photos more dynamic and effective! \nAbout Bobbi Lane: Bobbi Lane\, a Fujifilm “X” Photographer and Profoto educator\, is an award-winning commercial photographer specializing in creative portraits on location and in the studio. Lane’s multi-faceted approach to photography incorporates over 40 years of technical experience with innovative artistic interpretation. Her corporate and editorial work includes corporate websites\, annual reports and hundreds of environmental portraits for a wide variety of magazines. As a dedicated photo educator\, she brings insight and enthusiasm to her students in workshops held worldwide. She is widely known as the “Mistress of Light”\, teaching portrait lighting techniques with both natural and artificial light. Combining her love of travel\, photography and teaching\, Bobbi also leads international photo travel workshops such as Venice Carnival\, Tanzania\, and Iceland. Her dynamic workshops are always both education and entertaining! \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. SUMMARY:Online: Color Theory with Joseph Roybal
DESCRIPTION:Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nHave you ever wondered what makes certain photographs pop and are full of vibrancy and life while others just seem to be a challenge to get to work right? In this discussion\, Joseph will go over his philosophies on Color Harmony and Theory addressing these points in several of his images and how this all starts in the field when capturing a photograph. Joseph will discuss a bit of his workflow in the field when looking at a scene assessing its potential analyzing which focal points are catching his eye then and how he brings these to life later in post-processing via color and light. Joseph will also discuss how the natural colors that were there during capture are your best starting point and how to get these to work in harmony later in post. \nAbout Joseph: Joseph Roybal is a full-time professional landscape and travel photographer based in Denver\, Colorado specializing in landscape imagery from around the globe. His passion lies simply in being immersed in the outdoors; searching for dramatic light and mood within the frame. Joseph has traveled the globe in search of stunning vistas and scenes with the ambitions of taking the viewers of his work on a visual journey to these locations and evoking the feeling as if they are standing in the scene in person. Joseph is partnered with several leading photographic companies in the industry and is also a Breakthrough Photography Team Pro. In his logo\, Joseph utilizes the tagline “Explore.Learn.Share” as it is these three main components to his philosophy as a photographer that inspire him each and every day. SUMMARY:Online: Special Guest Series- Introduction to Wedding Photography- The Basics & The Business\, with Bob Fletcher
DESCRIPTION:Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nWedding Photography is a tough business. Wedding photographers must have a mastery of their craft in order to properly photograph a wedding\, because it (hopefully) only happens once! They must be able to pose and light their subjects\, and edit\, process\, and deliver the images in a somewhat timely manner. In addition to this\, they also need to be able to handle the business-end of the job\, including how to properly price their services (and get hired). \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education as we welcome photographer Bob Fletcher. In this introduction\, Bob will discuss much of “the basics and the business” of wedding photography\, including:\n•Today’s wedding market \n•Photographing the wedding\n•Posing & Lighting\n•Deliver of Images\n•Follow Up\n•Photographing weddings for Family & Friends\n•How to make money at weddings\n•Pricing your work – based on experience and your marketplace\n•Training – How do I learn to photograph weddings\n•Equipment – What minimum equipment do I need\n•Paperwork – Contracts\, etc. \nAbout Bob Fletcher\nI started photographing weddings professionally in January 1970. My early years were spent photographing weddings for a studio in Orange County\, California shooting with medium format Hasselblad cameras. I eventually opened my own studio in Corona\, California and my wedding photography took me to many places around the globe– Jamaica\, Mexico\, Italy\, Switzerland\, Alaska\, Canada\, and many\, many states within the USA. Our studio eventually became the “Preferred Wedding Photographer” for Disneyland Anaheim and the Disney Hotel\, amongst many other wedding venues.\nIn 1996 I started using the Kodak/Canon DCS hybrid digital cameras and was hooked on digital photography immediately. In 1999 I started working for Canon USA as a “stringer”. That relationship continues to this day.\nI have always mentored beginning photographers and taught them the art and business of photography so they could also make a living from something that they loved to do.\nAfter photographing over 3\,250 weddings over a 43-year career in weddings\, I chose to spend more time teaching photography classes and leading workshops. I currently spend most of my time working for Canon USA\, teaching and leading workshops but I still like to photograph family and friends weddings on occasion.\nIt is a joy to share with others the love that I have for the art of photography and I thank you for being a part of that. \nPlease note: This class is an introduction to wedding photography. There are many facets to it\, too numerous to fit into an introductory class. We plan to continue these classes as a series\, delving more deeply into many of these topics. We encourage this class as an introduction. \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information.
