DESCRIPTION:Located an hour west of Boston\, Sturbridge Village is a proud replication of an 18th century New England town. Sturbridge Village is a living history museum that features many authentic period buildings and homes to explore and enjoy. The village is also inhabited by re-enactors who provide colorful insight to life in New England during the 18th century. Sturbridge Village is a wonderful destination for a multitude of photographic opportunities as well as a glimpse into a bygone era. \nOlde Sturbridge Village is perhaps one of the best places to have both a Photo Walk and a class. There’s a little bit of everything at this living history museum\, from macro and closeup with fine details to architecture\, from portraits to landscapes. We will photograph both indoors and outdoors\, in regular light as well as very low light. We will discuss how to work with subjects to create a story\, and also work on settings to fine-tune focus and exposure! This Photo Walk is one of the best opportunities to build your photographic knowledge\, no matter what level. This walk is equally as beneficial as a first walk or a twentieth walk\, as the area has so much to offer! This lecture will take out some of the mystery of night photography by covering topics such as knowing your camera\, proper exposure\,  and most importantly\,  equipment and lens needs. After the presentation\, we will separately travel to put what you’ve learned to use by photographing the town of Northampton.\nThis seminar and photo walk are sponsored by Tamron\, who will also be providing lenses for Nikon\, Canon\, and Sony shooters. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Hancock Shaker Village
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a photo walk at the historic Canterbury Shaker Village. During the walk\, we will discuss subject development\, image composition\, black and white\, and architectural photography. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. \nShakers were a religious group formed in England in the 1700s from a variety of religions\, including English Quakers and Methodists. (Shakers were named based on their ecstatic dance\, initially known as “Shaking Quakers”.) Shaker communities sprouted throughout Northeastern Colonial America\, eventually heading westward. Due to the celibate nature of the communities\, the Shaker communities dwindled into the 20th century\, including the Hancock Shaker Village\, which was closed by the Shakers in the early 1960s.\nOpened in 1961\, the Hancock Shaker Village preserves the heritage of the Hancock Shaker Community from the past two centuries. The settlement is complete with 20 Shaker buildings\, a working farm and significant collections of Shaker furniture and artifacts.\nOn this walk\, we will photograph the living spaces of this historic sect’s wholly simple (and simply holy) lives. We will attempt to tell the story of the Shakers through what they left behind. This will include an emphasis on Composition and discussing Black & White\, architecture\, and close-up photography. Come photograph a fascinating historical lifestyle!
