SUMMARY:Editing Using Capture One- Exposure\, Layer\, Color Grading\, & More- Hunt's Photo\, S. Portland
DESCRIPTION:Capture One is one of the most popular and professional photo editing softwares on the market. It’s a complete photo editor that allows for extensive color editing\, the ability to work with layers in an image\, tethered shooting\, and more in a fairly easy-to-use package! Capture One also boasts extensive camera and lens profiles for many brands\, emphasizing not just Canon and Nikon\, but also Fuji\, Sony and others.\nIn this course we will learn:\n•General program layout\n•Basics of exposure controls\n•Layers- what they are\, how and when to use them\n•Color editing tools\n•Spot Removal Tool\n•Tethering basics \nCome join us as we explore this fascinating program! \nWhy choose Capture One vs. Adobe Lightroom? This program can be seen as an addition to or replacement for Adobe Lightroom. Capture One’s interface focuses on processing of images without having to create catalogs of images\, allowing one to focus primarily on what’s important in images: Exposure\, spot correction\, color\, and more. Capture One’s biggest advantage over Lightroom is its robust color processing capabilities\, which allow one to work in a straightforward way to properly render color. Capture One is also one of the few professional photo editing softwares that is available to purchase\, rather than Adobe’s leasing with monthly payments. But rest assured- We’re not biased! Our instructors have both Capture One and Lightroom! \nWe recommend bringing a laptop for this class with Capture One Pro 12 installed. Please be advised: Capture One Pro 12 is the only version we recommend for this class. Please make sure the program is downloaded and make sure you can open it prior to arriving. Note:The other major version of this program\, Capture One Express\, does not offer the same editing capabilities (specifically the inability to work with Layers). We are happy to work with you in a 1-on-1 environment\, as this class will likely not be suitable for Express. \nTo register in S. Portland\n \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

SUMMARY:Beyond the Basics- Shooting & Editing Landscapes- Hunt's Photo\, Melrose
DESCRIPTION:Landscapes are one of the most easily accessible subjects to photographers but this does not mean that landscape photography is easy. This class will help you prepare for (and feel confident!) shooting in the field and how to edit your images in Lightroom when the shoot is over. \nStudents are encouraged to bring their laptops with Adobe Lightroom Classic installed as you’ll work through the edits with the instructor on provided images. \nTopics covered in this course:\n-Dynamic Range\n-Histograms\n-Exposure\n-Focusing\n-Composition\n-Gear\n-Global edits in Lightroom\n-Using graduated filters and adjustment brushes\n-and more! \nWe recommend bringing a laptop for the second half of this class with Adobe Lightroom Classic installed. We will provide images for you to work on\, which we will be demoing on screen at the same time. Please also be advised that this is not meant as an introductory course to Lightroom. We recommend Adobe Lightroom Basics as a precursor to this class.\nPlease be advised: Lightroom Classic is the only version we recommend for this class. Please make sure it is downloaded and make sure you can open it prior to arriving. Many versions of this software exist\, including the similarly named “Adobe Lightroom CC”. It is in fact a slightly different program. While this program has the same general capabilities\, the overall layouts of the two programs are very different. Please note that we recommend using Classic for this class. \nTo register in Melrose…\n \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

SUMMARY:Capture to Print: Flowers & Macro
DESCRIPTION:Printing your photos will make you a better photographer. The first step to creating a great print is by understanding how to create a great photograph in the field.\nCapture-To-Print is an intermediate workshop that focuses not only on photography\, but also editing and printing! Half photo workshop\, half editing and printing\, we will take you through the whole process–from Capture to Print— to demonstrate what is important in the field\, how to effectively process photos\, and why printing is a necessity.\nOur process for this Capture to Print workshop will be a little different from our previous workshops. We will begin in our Melrose classroom with lighting setups and a variety of flowers\, which we will photograph over the course of the morning. We will transition from photographing to editing in the early afternoon. Attendees are encouraged to bring their computers–laptops or all-in-ones are fine (iMacs are welcome)–in order to do their own editing. Attendees should have Adobe Lightroom and/or Photoshop\, or a comparable program on their computer. We will be available to help with the processing of images during this time. We will then view these edits\, critique\, and discuss them with the rest of the class while also creating 13×19″ prints.\nThis will be a fun and challenging workshop that will walk you through the full process of creating a photograph. The process of printing is integral to developing one’s photographic vision. \nApproximate schedule for the day:\n9am- Introductions\, discussion of lighting and macro techniques\n10am- Photographing of flowers\, macro\n12pm- Begin editing (Attendees are encouraged to bring a bagged lunch and take a short break during this time)\n2pm- Review\, critique\, and printing \n\nIf you are attending this workshop\, we will send out more specific instructions to you a few days prior to the workshop. SUMMARY:Edit to Print- Hunt's Photo\, Manchester
DESCRIPTION:How do we edit an image to make the best print possible? Which images work for print and which do not? What paper should we print on? How should we edit for each paper? In this roundtable class\, we will work with your images\, discuss and process them\, and discuss the printing process. We ask attendees to bring in three images on a USB drive (RAW\, if possible) that they may want to print. We will review the images and choose one to edit in Adobe Lightroom and then send it to print.\nAttendees are also welcome to bring their laptop to work on the images during class for submission. We will gladly assist on any editing you would like to do.\nAttendees will leave with one print\, 12×18 in size (printed on 13×19 paper) and a bit more knowledge on the process of editing and printing\, not to mention the knowledge of how to take the photograph better in the field for next time.\nThis is a class that you can take as many times as you’d like. Since you’re constantly working with new images\, you’re always working out new challenges!\nIn the class\, we will have a variety of paper options to choose from\, including Moab Fine Art papers. (The cost of a 12×18 or 13×19 print on fine art paper is $35-$40; the cost of this class includes the cost of that print!) \nCome see your images\, printed vibrantly in a large format! \nTo register in Manchester…
