SUMMARY:Adding Textures to Photos in Photoshop
DESCRIPTION:Why use Photoshop? One of the most fun and creative ways to utilize Adobe Photoshop (as opposed to many other editing programs\, including Lightroom) is Photoshop’s ability to use multiple layers. Adding textures to photographs or areas of a photograph are an excellent opportunity to add character\, depth\, and a uniqueness to an image!\nIn this class\, we will demonstrate and work with images in a step-by-step process to take a photo from Lightroom (or anywhere on your computer)\, import into Photoshop\, add a texture\, and then save the file. We will be providing some textures that we have created for each student and will also provide images for you to practice on. This class will specifically cover…\n•Layers\n•Masking\n•Blend modes \nThe tools we utilize here don’t need to end with just textures. The concepts we will cover in the class can also be applied to other areas–changing the opacity of a layer or image\, creating masks which allow you to change one specific area of a photo\, and more. If you have an interest in learning more about Photoshop\, this is an excellent opportunity! \nNo previous Photoshop knowledge is required\, but we recommend bringing a laptop for this class with Adobe Photoshop CC installed. (Adobe Lightroom Classic CC is helpful if you use Lightroom.) \n \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education as we workshop how to “see”\, effectively compose and create macro images\, and finally edit in black & white. \nCapture to Edit & Print is an intermediate workshop that focuses not only on photography\, but also on the process of editing\, this time specifically in black & white\, and printing. We will begin by presenting some of things that we look for in the process of developing a black & white composition\, including such varied aspects from camera settings to choice of subject. Attendees should have Adobe Lightroom and/or Photoshop on their computer or a comparable program. We will be available to help with the processing of images during this time\, but we will also give live editing demonstrations. We will then view these edits\, critique\, and discuss them with the rest of the class.\nThis will be a fun and challenging workshop that will walk you through a very unique\, but storied process: Black & White. \nApproximate schedule for the day:\n9am- Introductions\, discussion black & white composition\, settings\, etc\n10am- Photographing\n1pm- Short lunch break; quick cleanup of macro setups (Attendees are encouraged to bring a bagged lunch and take a short break during this time) At this time\, we will have a short discussion about the editing process in black & white\n2pm- Editing\n4pm- Review & critique\n5pm- End of day \n\nIf you are attending this workshop\, we will send out more specific instructions to you a few days prior to the workshop. SUMMARY:Lightroom to Photoshop and Back Again- Hunt's Photo\, Providence
DESCRIPTION:Hunt’s Photo Education often promotes the idea of using Adobe Lightroom for most basic editing\, as the program’s interface for editing multiple images is fairly intuitive and is designed specifically for photographers. Lightroom can do quite a bit\, but there are times when Adobe Photoshop can do a better job. But where can we benefit from using Photoshop as opposed to Lightroom?\nOur course\, Lightroom to Photoshop and Back Again\, does exactly what the title says\, by starting in Lightroom\, then bringing images into Photoshop\, and then sending them back to Lightroom. We will begin by making basic changes to the images in Lightroom\, then bring them to Photoshop to fine-tune them and make the corrections that we either cannot make in Lightroom or ones that would be easier or better quality to make in Photoshop. Since Lightroom functions as an organizer as well as an editor\, we will finish by bringing the images back into Lightroom.\nIn this course we will learn:\n•When and why to use PS over LR\n•What are Layers?\n•Basic Photoshop workflow\n•Removing objects\n•Basic adjustments\n•Adding text \nWe recommend bringing a laptop for this class with Adobe Lightroom CC Classic and Adobe Photoshop CC installed. Please be advised: Lightroom CC Classic and Photoshop CC are the only versions we recommend for this class. Please make sure they are both downloaded and make sure you can open them prior to arriving. Also\, please be advised that Adobe Photoshop Elements and older versions of Photoshop have very different layouts and will not translate as well for this class. \n \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

SUMMARY:Macro & Tabletop Workshop- Capture & Edit Edition- Hunt's Photo\, Holyoke
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our Macro & Tabletop Workshop\, Capture & Edit Edition! In this workshop\, we will combine the fun of photographing macro and tabletop setups with editing and processing of images. \nToo often we feel that our photography comes to a halt during inclement weather. However\, there is ample opportunity to make use of our creativity while staying indoors. Many household items– cut flowers\, books\, antiques\, jewelry\, and glassware– all make for wonderful subjects while using natural window light. Every table in your house can become a landscape of opportunity with some imagination and creativity. \nWe will begin with a short presentation on macro photography\, how to use specific gear\, how to light\, and how to compose macro photographs. We will then spend the next portion of our day creating a variety of still life set ups and unique macro scenarios using a variety of lights and light modifiers. We will then transition to the processing of images\, working individually on your own personal laptops. We will finish with a brief critique of images. \nWe recommend bringing a laptop with Adobe Lightroom or Adobe Photoshop installed for editing. \nThis workshop is recommended for anyone who wants to get more creative with their photography\, both in camera and in post-production! \nApproximate schedule for the day:\n10am- Introductions\, presentation on macro\, gear\, lighting\, settings\, etc\n11am- Photographing of macro setups\n2pm- Short lunch break; quick cleanup of macro setups (Attendees are encouraged to bring a bagged lunch and take a short break during this time) After lunch\, we will work on post-processing of images.\n4pm- Review & critique\n5pm- End of day \nPlease note: Depending on how many attendees we receive\, we may hold this workshop at a different nearby location with more space\, rather than in the store. We will detail this in our reminder email a few days prior to the event and will not be far from our Holyoke store. \n \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Mills & Waterways of Lowell
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a walk in downtown Lowell\, Massachusetts to photograph the Mills & Waterways. On this walk\, we will work on architectural photography\, Image composition\, Black and White Photography\, and other ways of creating images expressively.\nThe city of Lowell is a wonderful example of an old New England mill town. A city that was once dominant in the textile industry\, Lowell’s population boomed during much of the 19th century\, peaking in the early 20th century. Lowell\, nicknamed “Mill City”\, still retains much of its’ early 20th century look (and charm)\, with many old mills being converted to apartments\, artist spaces\, shops and more. On this walk\, we will photograph around many of the mill areas and along the beautiful Merrimack River with the many bridges and cobblestone walkways. Photographers of all skill levels are welcome. \n \nIf you are attending this walk\, we will send out more specific instructions to you a few days prior to the walk. SUMMARY:Beyond the Basics: Using Long Exposures Creatively- Hunt's Photo\, South Portland
DESCRIPTION:Most photos capture a moment in time\, and most cameras make it pretty easy to do so. Using slower shutter speeds can create unique and interesting photos and allow you to create variations of the same scene. Join Hunt’s Photo Education’s Rick Berk to learn his techniques for creating stunning long exposure images\, so you’ll be ready to try your own the next time you’re out photographing. \nUnderstanding the full-functionality of your camera is a necessity to improving your flexibility when photographing in a variety of situations. This course is designed to help you feel more comfortable about how to change your camera’s settings in those situations. It is recommended as a follow-up to our Beginner Photography course. \n \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

SUMMARY:Advanced Printing Techniques- Printing in Adobe Lightroom- Hunt's Photo\, South Portland
DESCRIPTION:For ages\, darkroom printing was an art form that was destined only for those that had a darkroom. Now they practically give digital printers away\, and what darkroom techniques were sequestered to your basement can now be duplicated in a corner office.\nBut Digital Printing\, while simple in concept\, has a myriad number of curiosities and questions associated with it. Among the issues printers run into are color correction\, proper exposure\, ability to utilize multiple papers\, understanding how to edit for print\, how to print in black and white\, and why and when to use certain tools. In this course\, we will answer these questions\, as well as refer back to some of the more basic elements of digital printing\, including ICC profiles\, monitor calibration\, and more!\nThis class is for anyone that has set up their printer and understands some of the basic concept of printing\, but is having issues producing consistent results\, or wants to go further in understanding how to achieve the best printing results! We love printing\, and we want to share that love of printing with you! You do not need to own a printer\, but it helps. We recommend Canon or Epson. \nWhile the time is limited\, we invite you to bring one or two potential images with you (on a memory card or thumb drive) that may be used in the class for demonstration. RAW files are recommended. \nFor more basic techniques in printing\, our Intro to Digital Printing course is recommended. \nTo register in South Portland…

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Workshop: Using On-Camera Filters\, ft. Fan Pier\, Boston
DESCRIPTION:In the age of film photography\, filters were used to great effect. Because darkrooms were less accessible for editing (than editing in the digital age)\, filters were used to “get it right in camera”. Despite all the editing programs available today\, it is still best to “get it right in camera”\, and certain filters still produce vastly superior effects that cannot be achieved by post-processing alone. \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Educators Rick Berk and Emily Hojnowski for a hands-on photography workshop designed to help attendees create better images by utilizing long-exposure. We will start with a classroom session explaining the different filter types and their uses\, as well as examples of when and why to use them. Circular Polarizers\, Neutral Density Filters\, and ND Graduated Filters will all be covered. At about 3:30pm we will break and reconvene at Fan Pier in Boston at 4:30pm to put into practice the filters and techniques. We will conclude the walk around 8:30pm.\nWe will have some Benro Neutral Density and Circular Polarizing filters on-hand for attendees to use in order to test the techniques discussed in the class. If attendees are interested in purchasing filters to use during the event\, we will be offering a discount on them the day of the workshop. \n \nIf you are attending this walk\, we will send out more specific instructions to you a few days prior to the walk. However\, be advised we will be meeting at Hunt’s Photo\, Melrose at the time listed. We will be traveling separately to Fan Pier in Boston. We will not need to return to Melrose and will conclude the workshop around 8:30pm in Boston. Please note: Some slight details above can be subject to change. This email will detail any of those minor changes.\nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Port of Galilee and Judith Point Light
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education on a late-afternoon/evening walk of the Port of Galilee & Point Judith Lighthouse. The walk will begin at 3:00pm and conclude at 9pm. On the walk\, we will discuss Exposure\, Subject Development\, Image Composition\, HDR\, Black & White Photography and more. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. \nThe Port of Galilee is a small fishing village located in Narragansett\, Rhode Island\, but this small village holds the largest fishing fleet in the entire state! Because of this\, the Port of Galilee is a fascinating\, weathered and textured area for photography. We will begin the walk photographing in and around the port\, then move toward the Point Judith Lighthouse for sunset. \n \nIf you are attending this walk\, we will send out more specific instructions to you a few days prior to the walk. However\, be advised we will be meeting at 3pm in the general vicinity of the Port of Galilee. Please note: Some slight details above can be subject to change. This email will detail any of those minor changes.\nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.
