SUMMARY:Online: Environmental Portraits
DESCRIPTION:In response to COVID-19 and recommendations by the CDC of social distancing\, Hunt’s Photo Education is presenting our new series of online classes! These courses will be shorter (about 1 hour)\, online versions of many classes that we currently offer\, plus a few new ones\, and include Q&A at the end.\nBelow the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nAll portraits offer a level of intrigue\, focus\, and character to our subjects. How the subject is positioned\, where we focus\, and how they interact all play into creating a level of depth to the image. Environmental portraits– a portrait taken in someone’s normal environmental\, such as their home or place of work– don’t just place a subject on a plain background\, but instead offer additional elements in the photograph that add to the story of the subject. As such\, we build more of a story of the subject in an environmental portrait.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education’s Don Toothaker for a presentation that showcases the significance of creating environmental portraits. We will discuss surroundings\, subject interaction and development\, as well as basic settings. This is a great discussion for not only those interested in portraits\, but anyone interested in how to work with people in their natural environment! \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. The majority of the class–roughly 1 hour– will be a presentation on the topic\, followed by a short Q&A. During the class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Chat box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end. \n \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

SUMMARY:Online: Tips & Tricks for Photographing Kids Inside & Out
DESCRIPTION:In response to COVID-19 and recommendations by the CDC of social distancing\, Hunt’s Photo Education is presenting our new series of online classes! These courses will be shorter (about 1 hour)\, online versions of many classes that we currently offer\, plus a few new ones\, and include Q&A at the end.\nBelow the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nLet’s face it: Photographing children can be tough work! They have boundless energy\, they don’t always listen to instructions\, and they do NOT want to stay in one place so that you can take precious photographic memories! This is compounded by how complicated photography can be. And then comes a quarantine order! It’s enough to make a photographer pull their hair out! But we’ve gotta stay cool and calm as child photographers! It has to be fun and childlike to make the experience truly amazing! So how do we do it and where do we start? \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson\, who has photographed both of his children every single day of their lives\, for some tips and tricks to get the best results possible. This workshop is part of a series that focuses on how to photograph toddlers and children. In this class\, we’ll diversify and talk about how to photograph kids indoors and outside\, both in a casual environment. Among other items\, this class will cover:\n•Inside: Using flash vs. natural light\n•Lens options and basic settings\n•The basics of photographing inside using flash\, including starting camera settings\n•How to create a natural environment\n•Tips and tricks on how to keep toddlers and children interested\, involved\, & engaged \nThis workshop primarily deals with working with children aged 2-6 but concepts can be applied to children of any age\, including those both young (and old) at heart! \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email a few days prior to the class time with that same information. \nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. SUMMARY:Online: Image Review/Critique- Unedited RAW
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday May 6th\, 7-8:30pm • Online! \nPrerequisite: We will be collecting an UNEDITED RAW image from each attendee for this critique session \nInstructor: Don Toothaker \nClass Size: Limited to 10-15 attendees/session \nBelow the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nThere is so much to think about in photography– from settings and composition to editing and post processing and so much more– that it can be easy to get lost within your images. Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a chance to discuss one of your images in a review and critique session\, where we will discuss many of these topics and how they work in your image. Our Hunt’s Photo Education Team firmly believes that presenting personal work and observing peer work is paramount to the growth and development of your photographic vision. \nThis Week’s Topic\nFor this week’s topic\, all attendees will submit an unedited RAW image. This can either be an image that you want to have critiqued for its technical prowess alone OR an image that you would like to have looked at from an editing perspective (in other words\, giving suggestions on what direction to take the image in editing). This is a wonderful\, unique opportunity\, as editing can cover up many flaws\, and in viewing unedited images\, we strip our images down to the bare essentials! We encourage photographers of all levels to consider this course\, as it is as valuable to seasoned professional as it is to a beginner! \nThis class will be a small group of up to 10-15 attendees. Upon registering\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include a link in order to upload images to us for the image review. We will also send out a reminder email a few days prior. Make sure to leave yourself enough time to upload your photo! \nDuring the critique\, all attendees will be muted. When we critique your image\, we will unmute you\, so please have a working microphone on your computer/tablet. \nJoin us for this exciting opportunity to share your photographic work with the community! \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. SUMMARY:Online: Photoshop Mini-Sessions- Adding Textures to Photos
DESCRIPTION:Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nOne of the most fun and creative ways to utilize Adobe Photoshop (as opposed to many other editing programs\, including Lightroom) is through using multiple layers. Adding textures to photographs or areas of a photograph are an excellent opportunity to add character\, depth\, and a uniqueness to an image!\nIn this class\, we will demonstrate and work with images in a step-by-step process to take a photo from Lightroom (or anywhere on your computer)\, import into Photoshop\, add a texture\, and then save the file.\nThis class will specifically cover…\n•Layers\n•Masking\n•Blend modes \nThe tools we utilize here don’t need to end with just textures. The concepts we will cover in the class can also be applied to other areas–changing the opacity of a layer or image\, creating masks which allow you to change one specific area of a photo\, and more. If you have an interest in learning more about Photoshop\, this is an excellent opportunity! \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. SUMMARY:Online: Take that Flash off the Camera!
DESCRIPTION:Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nAsk any photographer using a flash– the best way to use your flash is to take it off the camera! With this\, you have the ability to control the size\, direction\, and quality of the light\, all elements that you cannot do when the flash is on the camera.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson as we dive into what is needed in taking the flash off camera. For this class\, we’ll be focusing on using your flash off camera while inside\, but we’ll mention the advantages of using it outside as well. Among other items\, we will discuss:\n•Diffusers and light modifiers\n•Where to place your lights (and your subject)\n•Different trigger options\n•Light meters\n•How to light for a variety of scenes \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. \n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this\, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. If handouts and PDFs are included\, we will send it out with the link for the video. \nCan’t attend the class? \nIf you can’t attend the class but still want to download the video\, no problem: Just sign up for the class! You don’t need to attend and we will send the video and PDF link the next day! \nWant to get this class after it’s been run?\nIf you want to purchase this or any other of the classes we have done\, you can certainly do so. Just send us an email at classes@huntsphoto.com and we can send you the invoice. (We prefer having folks in our classes\, but this option is available as well if you want to see it!) \n \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

SUMMARY:Online: Image Review/Critique- Edited RAW
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday May 13th\, 7-8:30pm • Online! \nPrerequisite: We will be collecting an EDITED RAW image from each attendee for each critique session \nInstructor: Don Toothaker \nClass Size: Limited to 10-15 attendees/session \nBelow the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nThis Week’s Topic\nFor this week’s topic\, all attendees will submit an edited RAW image. This can either be an image that you have edited that you feel confident in or one in which you have edited and are looking to get a second opinion. This is a great chance to look deeper into your images\, as we will really be looking into the specifics of what to set in the editing process and why. \nRegarding uploading of images\nFor this critique\, we ask that you export a DNG from Lightroom or Capture One\, or save as the original RAW with the XMP sidecar file. DNG is a RAW format that also embeds in all the changes you have made previously to the image and can be exported from Lightroom or Capture One. Since it’s RAW\, we can still make “lossless” changes to the DNG file\, so that’s very helpful. We’ve made a short video about how to do it that you can watch here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ll87ah4kapx0zul/exporting-to-dng.mp4?dl=0 \nDuring the critique\, all attendees will be muted. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \nLayout of the class\nOur course layout is simple. This course will last about 90 minutes. During that time\, all attendees will be muted. When we critique your image\, we will unmute you\, so please have a working microphone on your computer/tablet.\n During the class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Chat box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end. \n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! SUMMARY:Online: HDR in Lightroom
DESCRIPTION:Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nThis class will focus on a lesser known feature of Lightroom Classic\, High Dynamic Range photo merging. Sometimes a scene has too broad a range to capture in one shot: either the highlights are overexposed or the shadows are too dark and lose detail. This class will explain the technique of how to capture the bright & dark parts of the scene and then how to process the results in Lightroom Classic resulting in a fantastic photo! \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. SUMMARY:Online: Curves and Color in Lightroom
DESCRIPTION:Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nThere is a world of tones and colors available to you in Adobe Lightroom Classic\, but how do you access it and make it your own?\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a trip into some of the lesser-known panels in Adobe Lightroom Classic\, as we delve into the “Curves” and “HSL” Panels… and more! In this class\, we will take a strong look at color options in the HSL Panel (that’s Hue-Saturation-Luminance) and how to properly manipulate them. We’ll delve into the Curves Panel to show how to get the most out of the exposure and tonal range of your image by using curves (and what the “curve” actually is!). And we’ll show a little bit of how to get the most out of images by using not just global adjustments\, but also local adjustments.\nThis class is an excellent opportunity to fine-tune color and tone adjustments! If your images lack a punch\, this is a great opportunity to see how to obtain it! \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class.
