SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic
DESCRIPTION:Recommended prerequisite: This class is solely on editing and processing your images in Lightroom. We recommend having understanding of how file organization in Lightroom works\, so we recommend our online File Management in Lightroom course prior to taking this class. \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have limited attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery! \nEditing in Adobe Lightroom\nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nIn week one\, we’ll talk about file types and adjustment ranges using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. In week two\, we’ll dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. Finally\, in week three\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including Sharpening\, HDR\, Pano stitching and more.\nEach week\, we will give an assignment and students will upload their edited photos prior to the next class. We will\, by and large\, be working with your images in the class. \nThis class is strongly recommended for anyone either looking to just get started with editing\, or to fine-tune your editing skills! \nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure! During each class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Question box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end. \n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this\, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. If handouts and PDFs are included\, we will send it out with the link for the video. \nNo online classes should be shared and cannot be shared in a public environment\, including with camera clubs\nThe online content is the copyright of Hunt’s Photo Education and/or the Instructor. Please support our education team and instructors by not sharing this material! We appreciate your support\, and it’s thanks to that support that we are able to continue producing content! \nRegister here\n*Please note: We have been experiencing issues with registration on the Safari web browser\, so you may want to consider using an alternative browser such as Google Chrome or Firefox. SUMMARY:Multi-Session Series- Adobe Lightroom Classic- File Management & Editing- Hunt's Photo\, Melrose
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, January 13th\, Wednesday January 19th\, & Wednesday January 26th\, 6-8pm \nIn this course\, we use specifically Adobe Lightroom Classic. (See below for more information.) \nRecommended prerequisite: A basic knowledge of computers and how to organize photos helps. Lightroom can be a challenging program. Patience is a virtue. \nInstructor: Rebecca Wade \nClass Size: 6-8 attendees \nCourse Description\nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. How do we organize our photos? What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a course that helps answer many of these questions. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nThis is a Multi-Session Class! In Week 1\, we will begin by discussing how to organize your images for quick retrieval via keywords\, ratings\, and more\, as well as giving a description on how to consider organizing your photos on your computer. Specifically\, we will cover brief computer file management\, the importance of keywords\, flagging and rating photos\, and searching metadata to find images. In Week 2\, we’ll start with the basic adjustments using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. We’ll then dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. In Week 3\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including local adjustments\, such as radial and graduated filters\, and how to “finish” the image- sharpening\, noise reduction\, and more.\nIn-between each session\, we will give assignments to help you become more proficient and grasp the material! This class is strongly recommended for anyone looking to further their skills with Lightroom! \nAn important note about this course! There are now a few different versions of Adobe Lightroom right now. This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. The other version of Lightroom\, commonly known as “Adobe Lightroom CC” (yes\, we understand you may be confused by this) is a more mobile and cloud-based program. The look and feel of the program is completely different– This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. (See graphic on the right.) If you are unsure\, feel free to email us at classes@huntsphoto.com. Important: If you are taking this course\, make sure to download/update the program in advance\, as you will not be able to download the program at the store. Older versions\, such as Lightroom 5 or 6\, are also acceptable\, though not all functions will be available. \nPlease Note: A Slight Change to COVID-19 Policies on Masks and Social Distancing\nUntil further notice\, we will be requiring masks for our indoor classes. We also ask that you socially distance whenever possible.\nAs always\, if you are sick or feeling unwell\, STAY HOME! We will gladly give you a credit towards a future class. \nThese guidelines will stay in place until further notice. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. If you have any questions\, feel free to contact us at classes@huntsphoto.com. \nRegister here\n***Having trouble registering? You can also register by clicking here!\n \nIf you are attending this class\, we will send out more specific instructions to you a few days prior. Please note: Some slight details above can be subject to change. This email will detail any of those minor changes.\nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up. \nWhat to Bring \n•Make sure to bring your laptop with a power cable\n•It is essential to have Adobe Lightroom Classic installed on your computer. If this is your first time using it\, make sure you can open the program.\n•We encourage you to make sure your software is up-to-date with the newest version\n•If your computer requires an adapter for USB\, make sure to bring it\n•As always\, bring your enthusiasm and creative thoughts!

SUMMARY:Online: Special Guest Series- Photography Planning - Increase your Odds of Success with Keith Bauer
DESCRIPTION:Monday January 24th\, 7-9pm EST • Online! \nSpecial Guest Instructor: Keith Bauer \nWant to get this class after it’s been run?– We have an online store where you can purchase all our previously run classes here: https://ebay.huntsphoto.com/buy-previous-courses/ \nBelow the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nClass description\nOf course\, we all try to keep our camera close so we’re ready for the unexpected\, but having a plan in place can increase your chances of getting that next great image!\nPlanning today with powerful mobile apps can make sure you will be in the right place at the right time. When will the sun hit at sunset exactly where we want it? How can we find those best locations? How can we plan for superior milky way photos? Other elements include sunrise/sunset times and angles\, moonrise and moonset angles\, as well as phases of the moon\, dark sky nights for photography and Milky Way location\, planning for lunar and solar eclipses\, horizon for any place on the planet\, and many more. Photographer Keith Bauer will show some great examples of “being ready” because a plan was in place and how to use his favorite planning app.\nVery Important: This course will be presented using a specific app – PlanIt Pro. There are other similar apps\, such as PhotoPills\, Photo Ephemeris\, and more. While Keith will be discussing the importance of PlanIt Pro and its features\, please note that our emphasis will be on the planning elements–what to consider and look for before going into the field– and how these apps can help achieve that. \nAbout Keith: Keith is an Albuquerque New Mexico based nature photographer and photographic instructor. His extensive background in photography started with traditional black & white darkroom work\, continued through college in a professional studio specializing in portraits\, weddings and commercial photography and has continued with his passion for nature photography and education.\nWith an academic background in computer science\, the marriage of computing and digital photography came easily. Keith took advantage of this to become a digital post processing specialist and instructor.
This email will detail any of those minor changes.\nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up. \nWhat to Bring \n•Make sure to bring your laptop with a power cable\n•It is essential to have Adobe Lightroom Classic installed on your computer. If this is your first time using it\, make sure you can open the program.\n•We encourage you to make sure your software is up-to-date with the newest version\n•If your computer requires an adapter for USB\, make sure to bring it\n•As always\, bring your enthusiasm and creative thoughts!

SUMMARY:Multi-Session Series- Adobe Lightroom Classic- File Management & Editing- Hunt's Photo\, Providence
DESCRIPTION:In this course\, we use specifically Adobe Lightroom Classic. (See below for more information.) \nRecommended prerequisite: A basic knowledge of computers and how to organize photos helps. Lightroom can be a challenging program. Patience is a virtue. \nInstructor: Mike Rice \nClass Size: 6-8 attendees \nCourse Description\nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options.

SUMMARY:Online: Printed Vision Series- Printing in Black & White
DESCRIPTION:Recommended prerequisite: \nInstructor: Paul Nelson \nBelow the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run.\nAbout The Printed Vision Series\nThe printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product\, which is the purpose behind the Printed Vision Series.\nEach Printed Vision topic will meet for two sessions. In the first session\, we will discuss the topic and elaborate on editing with examples. This will include discussion of exposure\, dynamic range and color\, but also deeper points\, such as noise reduction\, image sharpening and grain. In between sessions 1 and 2\, attendees will independently process 1-2 images and submit them to the instructor for printing. We will print one of the two images leading into the second session and discuss some of the challenges we face in printing them.\nYou do not need to produce a new image for this class and can go into your archives to print\, but you are welcome to go out into the field and create something new based on the topic! \nThis Month’s Printed Vision Session: Printing in Black & White\nBlack & White printing has an historic place in photography\, as for the past 175 years\, it has been the dominant method of printing and viewing photographs. There are many things to think about when we edit an image for printing in Black & White\, and this course will discuss those many items.\nIn this session\, we will discuss different paper options\, what to look for in the editing process\, and more. Our instructional online presentation will be held on June 8th from 7-8pm and we will reconvene for our Printed Image Review on June 24th from 7-9pm. You will have that time period in between to photograph and/or edit your images. In the end\, you will receive a 12×18″ print on fine art Baryta paper. (Please note: The cost of a 12×18 or 13×19 print on fine art paper is $35-$40; the cost of this class includes the cost of that print!) \nReceiving Your Print\nAfter the class\, your print can either be mailed to you or picked up at one of our Hunt’s Photo store locations. \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery! \nMastering Manual Mode\nLearning about photography can be a real challenge. There are so many pieces to the puzzle of photography\, some of which use confusing terminology. For this reason\, we often start newcomers off using the Priority Modes because it’s “easier”. In reality\, these priority modes are just a short-term solution. It’s important to fully understand the “why” and “how” of your camera settings\, and learning to master manual is an excellent way to do so. \nThis Multi-Session Series will focus on Mastering Manual Mode. In week 1\, we’ll cover the technical side of aperture\, shutter\, and ISO. We’ll also discuss metering modes\, reading your meter\, and understanding histograms. In week 2\, we’ll learn to control depth of field\, focusing\, and how lens choice affects aperture choice. By week 3\, we’ll discuss how to use shutter speed effectively to either blur your motion or freeze your action. We’ll talk about shooting at night and in low light. We’ll also talk about ISO and how it controls image noise. In week 4\, we’ll put everything together by discussing dynamic range\, white balance\, and how to get the correct exposure in camera every time. We’ll also answer the most important question of all: which change should I make to achieve my desired results? \nEach week Emily will give an assignment to help further the topics covered in that week’s class. Students are encouraged to send in assignments that will be individually critiqued by Emily each week. This is a great opportunity to enhance your exposure skills while getting direct feedback on your week. \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information.
