On this walk\, we will work on architectural photography\, Image composition\, Black and White Photography\, and other ways of creating images expressively.\nThe city of Lowell is a wonderful example of an old New England mill town. A city that was once dominant in the textile industry\, Lowell’s population boomed during much of the 19th century\, peaking in the early 20th century. Lowell\, nicknamed “Mill City”\, still retains much of its’ early 20th century look (and charm)\, with many old mills being converted to apartments\, artist spaces\, shops and more.  On this walk\, we will photograph around many of the mill areas and along the beautiful Merrimack River with the many bridges and cobblestone walkways. In late 2018\, the bridge was enhanced with new LED lighting\, bringing stunning new views to this unique structure. This walk will have an emphasis on storytelling with lots of opportunities for environmental portraits\, macro\, landscape\, and low light photography\, all under the guise of a 17th century New England settlement. \nFounded more than 65 years ago\, Plimoth Plantation is a living history museum that depicts the life and culture of America’s first settlers in the 17th century. The settlement is complete with houses\, gardens\, animals\, and pilgrims that live and speak just as if it was 1627. The grounds\, homes\, and settlers make for wonderful studies in light\, architecture\, detail\, and portraiture. Also on the property is a full Native American settlement as well. The Wampanoag’s were native to Plymouth before the arrival of our first settlers and the story of their lives\, and how it mixed with the Pilgrims\, is on display as well. Plimoth Plantation is a vital look into the lives of our ancestors and the growth of America. \nAfter the walk\, attendees will be asked to edit 2-3 images and submit them for our image review/critique\, which will happen the following Tuesday night. (We have found that giving a couple days gives attendees more of a chance to review and edit to their liking without feeling too rushed!) We will discuss each attendee’s images and look at all the elements of photography discussed on the walk. Please note that this session will be recorded in case you cannot attend. \nPlease note: Any photographs taken cannot have commercial use without written consent from Plimoth Plantation. \nPlease note: The cost of your ticket does not include entrance to Plimoth Plantation. They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery! \nEditing in Adobe Lightroom\nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nIn week one\, we’ll talk about file types and adjustment ranges using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. In week two\, we’ll dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery! \nSpeedlights 101 and Beyond!\nThis class is all about two things: Learning how to use the basics of your flash on the camera and how (and why) to take the flash off the camera.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson as we discuss how to take pictures using a speedlight\, and make them look great\, no matter what the situation. We will discuss photographing people\, but also photographing product and flashes work. We’ll talk all about the basics\, including modes\, settings\, and more!\nWhether you own a flash and have no idea how to use it\, you want to take great photos at functions and family events that are in low light\, or you just want to learn how to add a flash into your repertoire\, this course is for you! \nIn week one\, we will look at the basic camera and flash settings when using the flash on the camera\, including light positioning. In week two\, we will get a bit more creative by adding in diffusion and reflectors. We will also work to refine flash positioning and camera settings to maximize efficiency. In week three\, we will demonstrate taking the flash off-camera and show some of the benefits of doing that. In week four\, we will tie together the whole process\, including how to properly edit photos. \nEach week we will have a general presentation and discussion about a topic and will present an assignment. You can submit for the assignment or just watch our weekly critiques of others–it’s up to you! We will also supplement the class with additional instructional videos.  \nYou don’t need to know the inner workings of your flash to take this class! Photographers of all levels should apply\, even those at a basic level\, as we will cascade the learning process. You should have a speedlight\, aka a flash that is detachable from your camera. Flash triggers can be helpful. A reflector may also be helpful. Note: This is not a class about the on-board flash on your camera. DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a very unique virtual workshop–once in a COVID lifetime experience. Every year\, Hunt’s Photo Education has a special Holiday Macro & Tabletop workshop. However\, due to COVID-19 restrictions\, we are unable to do this workshop in person. And so\, this year\, we have decided to take our workshop virtual! \nIn our Holiday Macro & Tabletop VIRTUAL workshop\, we will specialize in creating holiday-themed macro images. Who doesn’t want to spruce up their holiday cards with a beautifully exposed and composed holiday-themed macro photograph??  \nWe will begin this virtual workshop with a live presentation & demo. This isn’t going to be your average webinar! We’re going to have a live presentation taking you through the whole process: What props to use in your images\, how to properly set up macro images\, where to place items in the foreground and background\, how to light the subject\, and other tips and tricks to watch along the way. You’ll also be able to ask any questions you may have.\nAfter the presentation\, you will have about 10 days to photograph a macro masterpiece on your own! During this time\, you will also have the ability to edit your image\, as well as reach out to us if you are having any issues. We will collect your images in advance of our Image Review\, at which point we will see how everyone did. As the cherry on top\, we will also go through the printing process and print a 5×7″ folded card in that critique. (We will mail that card out to you after the class.) At the end of this workshop\, our goal is to have each photographer end up with a beautiful print.\nWe are very excited for this unique opportunity. This walk will have an emphasis on storytelling with lots of opportunities for environmental portraits\, macro\, landscape\, and low light photography\, all under the guise of a 17th century New England settlement. \nFounded more than 65 years ago\, Plimoth Plantation is a living history museum that depicts the life and culture of America’s first settlers in the 17th century. The settlement is complete with houses\, gardens\, animals\, and pilgrims that live and speak just as if it was 1627. The grounds\, homes\, and settlers make for wonderful studies in light\, architecture\, detail\, and portraiture. Also on the property is a full Native American settlement as well. The Wampanoag’s were native to Plymouth before the arrival of our first settlers and the story of their lives\, and how it mixed with the Pilgrims\, is on display as well. Plimoth Plantation is a vital look into the lives of our ancestors and the growth of America. \nAfter the walk\, attendees will be asked to edit 2-3 images and submit them for our image review/critique\, which will happen the following Tuesday night. (We have found that giving a couple days gives attendees more of a chance to review and edit to their liking without feeling too rushed!) We will discuss each attendee’s images and look at all the elements of photography discussed on the walk. DESCRIPTION:Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery! \nFood Photography\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education as we discuss everything you need to get started with food photography including gear\, props\, and shooting techniques in our new Multi-Session Series!\nFor this course\, we’ll start with composition in the first week\, discussing the core compositional principles\, choosing the right food and mood for a shoot\, and which angle is best for your subject.\nIn week two\, we’ll move past natural light and begin controlling and shaping artificial light. We’ll discuss size\, quality\, and direction of light as well as the best light modifiers to achieve that natural light look even at night! Color is a key element of food photography and we’ll cover everything from color psychology to perfecting white balance.\nBy the third week\, we’ll be working on styling our scenes with various props\, backgrounds\, and ingredients. Emily will show you the how and the why as we work through advanced compositional techniques. We’ll talk gear and how you don’t need to spend a fortune or have a lot of space to be a successful food photographer.\nIn our final week\, we’ll tie everything together and sharpen each student’s individual food style. We’ll discuss how to bring out the best of our food while telling a story and examine how foods can evoke emotional responses from our viewers.\nEach week you’ll have a new assignment that will build a diverse portfolio of food photography. Along the way\, you’ll be able to ask Emily questions and receive weekly individual\, personalized critiques and feedbacks from your assignment images. DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a very unique virtual workshop–once in a COVID lifetime experience. Every year\, Hunt’s Photo Education has a special Holiday Macro & Tabletop workshop. However\, due to COVID-19 restrictions\, we are unable to do this workshop in person. And so\, this year\, we have decided to take our workshop virtual! \nIn our Holiday Macro & Tabletop VIRTUAL workshop\, we will specialize in creating holiday-themed macro images. Who doesn’t want to spruce up their holiday cards with a beautifully exposed and composed holiday-themed macro photograph??  \nWe will begin this virtual workshop with a live presentation & demo. This isn’t going to be your average webinar! We’re going to have a live presentation taking you through the whole process: What props to use in your images\, how to properly set up macro images\, where to place items in the foreground and background\, how to light the subject\, and other tips and tricks to watch along the way. You’ll also be able to ask any questions you may have.\nAfter the presentation\, you will have about 10 days to photograph a macro masterpiece on your own! During this time\, you will also have the ability to edit your image\, as well as reach out to us if you are having any issues. We will collect your images in advance of our Image Review\, at which point we will see how everyone did. As the cherry on top\, we will also go through the printing process and print a 5×7″ folded card in that critique. (We will mail that card out to you after the class.)
