Learn wildlife photography in a controlled setting – no waiting hours in the hopes an animal will come along! In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery! \nPortraits- Natural & Flash\nAs we close out the summer months\, we begin to enter the season of Senior Portraits\, engagement sessions\, and even holiday family portraits. Portrait photographers keep themselves busy utilizing the warm weather and long days\, but what are the important elements to understand about portraits? What is “good” light? (When) Should I use a flash? What are some standards of editing portraits in Lightroom\, Capture One\, or Photoshop? \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education as we continue our Multi-Session Series into the realm of portraits! In Portraits- Natural Light and Flash\, we will emphasize creating portraits using available light through subject placement and composition\, with the aid of diffusers and reflectors\, but then explain when\, where\, and why to utilize flash\, and how we can achieve extraordinary results with a little bit of knowledge! \nIn week one\, we will discuss “Looking for the Light”\, where we will consider a variety of possibilities and how to consider where to place your subject and how to light them naturally using reflectors and diffusers. In week two\, we will discuss basic editing techniques in Adobe Lightroom and Capture One\, including exposure\, color editing\, and skin softening. In week three\, we will add in the element of flash and discuss how the addition of flash can benefit certain scenarios. In week four\, we will shift to Adobe Photoshop and discuss additional benefits of using that software for editing\, such as advanced skin softening and color editing techniques and finishing effects.\nEach week you’ll have a new assignment that will help build your portfolio of portrait images. Along the way\, you’ll be able to ask Paul and Alex questions and receive weekly individual\, personalized critiques and feedbacks from your assignment images.\nYou don’t need to be a professional to take this course\, or even know advanced concepts of Photoshop\, nor the inner workings of your flash. Photographers of all levels should apply\, as we will cascade the learning process. During the walk\, we will also discuss elements that contribute to become more adept at both Black and White and night photography\, including exposure\, focusing\, composition and much more! Photographers of all skill levels are welcome!\nHaverhill\, Massachusetts was once known as the “Queen Slipper City” for its high percentage of shoes produced in the town. The town retains the look of a manufacturing town\, and this look translates extremely well to the look of Black & White photography. On this walk\, we will move about the downtown area and along the Merrimack River at dusk and into the night. Sturbridge Village is a living history museum that features many authentic period buildings and homes to explore and enjoy. The village is also inhabited by re-enactors who provide colorful insight to life in New England during the 18th century. Sturbridge Village is a wonderful destination for a multitude of photographic opportunities as well as a glimpse into a bygone era. \nOlde Sturbridge Village is perhaps one of the best places to have both a Photo Walk and a class. There’s a little bit of everything at this living history museum\, from macro and closeup with fine details to architecture\, from portraits to landscapes. We will photograph both indoors and outdoors\, in regular light as well as very low light. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery! \nEditing in Adobe Lightroom\nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nIn week one\, we’ll talk about file types and adjustment ranges using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. In week two\, we’ll dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. Finally\, in week three\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including Sharpening\, HDR\, Pano stitching and more.\nEach week\, we will give an assignment and students will upload their edited photos prior to the next class. On the walk\, we will discuss Architectural Photography\, Image Composition\, Long Exposures\, and Black and White Photography. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. \nMIT is not only famous as a research institute and school\, but also for the stunning architecture that has been commissioned. These include the Landau Building (“The Wedge”)\, The Dreyfuss Building\, Simmons Hall (“The Sponge”)\, the Zesiger Center (“Z-Center”)\, the newly constructed Sean Collier Memorial\, and the Stata Center (pictured). We will discuss the many ways these pieces of architecture can be photographed in the evening and night skies. Our walk will take us in and out of the MIT campus and along Memorial Drive and the Charles River. Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a chance to discuss one of your images in a review and critique session\, where we will discuss many of these topics and how they work in your image. Our Hunt’s Photo Education Team firmly believes that presenting personal work and observing peer work is paramount to the growth and development of your photographic vision. \nThis Week’s Topic\nFor this week’s topic\, all attendees will submit an image for review or critique of a cityscape. This can be a photograph of a cityscape at night\, in the morning\, or during the day. During the review and critique\, we will discuss image composition\, exposure\, focus\, and all the settings associated with the image. You are welcome to edit the image you submit or leave it unedited.\nIf you are editing exporting from Lightroom or Capture One\, we ask that you export the image as a DNG\, or save the RAW file with a XMP sidecar file so that we can reedit the image\, if need be. (If you’re unsure what a DNG file is\, watch this short video about exporting as DNG. And if you cannot save the file in either formats and choose to submit an edited photo\, please submit an edited and unedited version so we can reedit\, if need be.)\nWe encourage photographers of all levels to consider this course\, as it is as valuable to seasoned professional as it is to a beginner! \nThis class will be a small group of up to 10-15 attendees. Portrait photographers keep themselves busy utilizing the warm weather and long days\, but what are the important elements to understand about portraits? What is “good” light? (When) Should I use a flash? What are some standards of editing portraits in Lightroom\, Capture One\, or Photoshop? \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education as we continue our Multi-Session Series into the realm of portraits! DESCRIPTION:Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nThis presentation explores all the various techniques of “Dragging the shutter” or balancing light the exposure of strobe and ambient light sources in one photo. For example: taking a photo of someone outside at night by using a portable flash and also capturing the city lights in the background. There is quite a lot to know about this technique because it involves color balance as well as exposure balance. Bobbi explains how to get the proper balance of exposure between the two light sources-flash and ambient- then how to creatively play by shaking or spinning the camera\, zooming the lens\, panning and more. The flash will light the subject and freeze any motion\, and then moving the camera will blur the background in a variety of ways. This technique can be used for people or cars at twilight\, product shots\, flowers outside\, etc. It’s a creative and fun way to make your photos more dynamic and effective! \nAbout Bobbi Lane: Bobbi Lane\, a Fujifilm “X” Photographer and Profoto educator\, is an award-winning commercial photographer specializing in creative portraits on location and in the studio. Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend.\nThe Heritage Museum and Gardens is “the largest public garden in Southern New England”\, with over 100 acres of beautifully kept grounds. The workshop begins with sharing which lights he selects for his on-location portraiture\, which mirrorless camera he uses and why\, then live capture of several portraits followed by answering your questions. Walter is very high energy and will pack a lot of content into this one-hour\, virtual\, hands-on workshop.  \nAbout Walter: Photography has been a passion of Walter’s since high school. While stationed onboard a fast attack submarine\, he graduated from periscope photography school at the top of his class. Fortunate to visit many countries\, his camera is always on his person. Walter’s daughter\, Hannah\, was born in 1996 and\, of course\, he became a “Dad with a camera”. In 1997\, Walter realized he wanted to pursue his dream of becoming a professional photographer. It was then that Walter began attending photography school\, workshops\, seminars\, mentoring sessions\, and assisted other photographers to gain as much knowledge and experience as possible. He fell in love with portraiture early in his professional career\, continues to educate himself and strives to perfect his craft every day. Achieving this goal results in a confident and powerful portrayal of each subject. \nWalter is a Four-Time Winner of Connecticut Photographer of the Year\, two-time Connecticut and New England Best in Show Wedding Album\, has multiple Professional Photographers of America Loan Collection Prints\, the recipient of five Connecticut and New England Court of Honor Awards\, the recipient of 6 Kodak Gallery Award Wedding Images\, was awarded two Fuji Masterpieces for Prints awards and most recently earned second-highest print case at the Massachusetts Professional Photographers Annual Convention along with several awards. While many filters from the days of film are no longer relevant\, there are many effects that are unachievable without the use of filters\, even in the modern digital age! And these effects produce some of the most stunning results!\nDuring this seminar class\, we will discuss the different types of filters available for creative photography. We will also go over when and why you should use them and review how to use them. We will cover polarizing filters\, neutral density filters\, soft and hard-edge graduated filters\, close-up filters and more! In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery! \nPortraits- Natural & Flash\nAs we close out the summer months\, we begin to enter the season of Senior Portraits\, engagement sessions\, and even holiday family portraits. Portrait photographers keep themselves busy utilizing the warm weather and long days\, but what are the important elements to understand about portraits? What is “good” light? (When) Should I use a flash? What are some standards of editing portraits in Lightroom\, Capture One\, or Photoshop? \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education as we continue our Multi-Session Series into the realm of portraits! In Portraits- Natural Light and Flash\, we will emphasize creating portraits using available light through subject placement and composition\, with the aid of diffusers and reflectors\, but then explain when\, where\, and why to utilize flash\, and how we can achieve extraordinary results with a little bit of knowledge! \nIn week one\, we will discuss “Looking for the Light”\, where we will consider a variety of possibilities and how to consider where to place your subject and how to light them naturally using reflectors and diffusers. In week two\, we will discuss basic editing techniques in Adobe Lightroom and Capture One\, including exposure\, color editing\, and skin softening. In week three\, we will add in the element of flash and discuss how the addition of flash can benefit certain scenarios. In week four\, we will shift to Adobe Photoshop and discuss additional benefits of using that software for editing\, such as advanced skin softening and color editing techniques and finishing effects.\nEach week you’ll have a new assignment that will help build your portfolio of portrait images. Along the way\, you’ll be able to ask Paul and Alex questions and receive weekly individual\, personalized critiques and feedbacks from your assignment images.\nYou don’t need to be a professional to take this course\, or even know advanced concepts of Photoshop\, nor the inner workings of your flash. Photographers of all levels should apply\, as we will cascade the learning process.
