There are so many pieces to the puzzle of photography\, some of which use confusing terminology. For this reason\, we often start newcomers off using the Priority Modes because it’s “easier”. In reality\, these priority modes are just a short-term solution. It’s important to fully understand the “why” and “how” of your camera settings\, and learning to master manual is an excellent way to do so. \nThis Multi-Session Series will focus on Mastering Manual Mode. In week 1\, we’ll cover the technical side of aperture\, shutter\, and ISO. We’ll also discuss metering modes\, reading your meter\, and understanding histograms. In week 2\, we’ll learn to control depth of field\, focusing\, and how lens choice affects aperture choice. By week 3\, we’ll discuss how to use shutter speed effectively to either blur your motion or freeze your action. We’ll talk about shooting at night and in low light. We’ll also talk about ISO and how it controls image noise. In week 4\, we’ll put everything together by discussing dynamic range\, white balance\, and how to get the correct exposure in camera every time. We’ll also answer the most important question of all: which change should I make to achieve my desired results? \nEach week Emily will give an assignment to help further the topics covered in that week’s class. Students are encouraged to send in assignments that will be individually critiqued by Emily each week. It’s important to fully understand the “why” and “how” of your camera settings\, and learning to master manual is an excellent way to do so. \nThis Multi-Session Series will focus on Mastering Manual Mode. In week 1\, we’ll cover the technical side of aperture\, shutter\, and ISO. We’ll also discuss metering modes\, reading your meter\, and understanding histograms. In week 2\, we’ll learn to control depth of field\, focusing\, and how lens choice affects aperture choice. By week 3\, we’ll discuss how to use shutter speed effectively to either blur your motion or freeze your action. We’ll talk about shooting at night and in low light. We’ll also talk about ISO and how it controls image noise. In week 4\, we’ll put everything together by discussing dynamic range\, white balance\, and how to get the correct exposure in camera every time. We’ll also answer the most important question of all: which change should I make to achieve my desired results? \nEach week Emily will give an assignment to help further the topics covered in that week’s class. Students are encouraged to send in assignments that will be individually critiqued by Emily each week. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nThis is a Multi-Session Class! In Week 1\, we will begin by discussing how to organize your images for quick retrieval via keywords\, ratings\, and more\, as well as giving a description on how to consider organizing your photos on your computer. Specifically\, we will cover brief computer file management\, the importance of keywords\, flagging and rating photos\, and searching metadata to find images. In Week 2\, we’ll start with the basic adjustments using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. We’ll then dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. In Week 3\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including local adjustments\, such as radial and graduated filters\, and how to “finish” the image- sharpening\, noise reduction\, and more.\nIn-between each session\, we will give assignments to help you become more proficient and grasp the material! This class is strongly recommended for anyone looking to further their skills with Lightroom! \nAn important note about this course! There are now a few different versions of Adobe Lightroom right now. This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. The other version of Lightroom\, commonly known as “Adobe Lightroom CC” (yes\, we understand you may be confused by this) is a more mobile and cloud-based program. There are so many pieces to the puzzle of photography\, some of which use confusing terminology. For this reason\, we often start newcomers off using the Priority Modes because it’s “easier”. In reality\, these priority modes are just a short-term solution. It’s important to fully understand the “why” and “how” of your camera settings\, and learning to master manual is an excellent way to do so. \nThis Multi-Session Series will focus on Mastering Manual Mode. In week 1\, we’ll cover the technical side of aperture\, shutter\, and ISO. We’ll also discuss metering modes\, reading your meter\, and understanding histograms. In week 2\, we’ll learn to control depth of field\, focusing\, and how lens choice affects aperture choice. By week 3\, we’ll discuss how to use shutter speed effectively to either blur your motion or freeze your action. We’ll talk about shooting at night and in low light. We’ll also talk about ISO and how it controls image noise. In week 4\, we’ll put everything together by discussing dynamic range\, white balance\, and how to get the correct exposure in camera every time.
