SUMMARY:Online: The Wonderful World of Waterfalls (Photographing Water)
DESCRIPTION:Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nPhotographing waterfalls is one of life’s greatest pleasures. Nothing can ruin those perfect moments of listening to the sound of the water rushing while your camera captures the beauty around you\, although the bugs may try.\nIn this class\, we’ll talk about the technical and the artistic elements used to capture waterfalls at their best. This includes camera settings and adding in filters\, as well as composition and storytelling. \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. The majority of the class–roughly 1 hour– will be a presentation on the topic\, followed by a short Q&A. During the class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Chat box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end. \n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this\, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. If handouts and PDFs are included\, we will send it out with the link for the video. \nCan’t attend the class? \nIf you can’t attend the class but still want to download the video\, no problem: Just sign up for the class! You don’t need to attend and we will send the video and PDF link the next day! \nWant to get this class after it’s been run?\nIf you want to purchase this or any other of the classes we have done\, you can certainly do so. Just send us an email at classes@huntsphoto.com and we can send you the invoice. (We prefer having folks in our classes\, but this option is available as well if you want to see it!) \nRegister here\n***Having trouble registering? You can also register by clicking here! \n \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

The first step to creating a great print is by understanding how to create a great photograph in the field.\nCapture-To-Print is an intermediate workshop that focuses not only on photography\, but also editing and printing! Half photo workshop\, half editing and printing\, we will take you through the whole process–from Capture to Print— to demonstrate what is important in the field\, how to effectively process photos\, and why printing is a necessity.\nWe will begin in our classroom with lighting setups and a variety of flowers\, which we will photograph over the course of the morning. We will transition from photographing to editing in the early afternoon. Attendees are encouraged to bring their computers–laptops or all-in-ones are fine (iMacs are welcome)–in order to do their own editing. Attendees should have Adobe Lightroom and/or Photoshop\, or a comparable program on their computer. We will be available to help with the processing of images during this time. We will then view these edits\, critique\, and discuss them with the rest of the class while also creating 13×19″ prints.\nThis will be a fun and challenging workshop that will walk you through the full process of creating a photograph. The process of printing is integral to developing one’s photographic vision. \nApproximate schedule for the day:\n9am- Introductions\, discussion of lighting and macro techniques\n9:30am- Photographing of flowers\, macro\n12pm- Begin editing (Attendees are encouraged to bring a bagged lunch and take a short break during this time)\n2pm- Review\, critique\, and printing \nPlease Note: A Slight Change to COVID-19 Policies on Masks and Social Distancing\nUntil further notice\, we will be requiring masks for our indoor classes. We also ask that you socially distance whenever possible.\nAs always\, if you are sick or feeling unwell\, STAY HOME! We will gladly give you a credit towards a future class. \nRegister here\n***Having trouble registering? You can also register by clicking here! \n\nIf you are attending this workshop\, we will send out more specific instructions to you a few days prior to the workshop. Please note: Some slight details above can be subject to change. This email will detail any of those minor changes.\nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up. \nWhat to Bring \n•If you have specific flowers that you would like to bring to photograph\, you are welcome to bring them as well.\n•A Macro lens will be your best lens of choice for this workshop. Remember\, we have a rental department at rentals.huntsphoto.com\n•Alternatively\, you could consider a prime lens (ex 50mm) or a long telephoto zoom lens\, but macro is still best\n•Macro filters or extension tubes could also work\n•Make sure to bring your tripod with a quick release plate and a shutter release\, if you have one.\n•Laptop with Lightroom/Photoshop or an equivalent editing program\n•Feel free to bring snacks and water\n•Bring an extra camera battery and memory cards.\n•As always\, bring your enthusiasm and creative thoughts!

SUMMARY:Online: High Standards for High ISOs
DESCRIPTION:Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nHave you ever heard a photographer disparage High ISOs because of their apparent inferiority? Is there really something wrong with shooting at a High ISO? What are some of the advantages and key points to consider? What are some of the ways we can edit the resulting image? What’s the deal with High ISOs?!\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education as we dive right into the technology and art of ISO! We’ll discuss many of the key points above and look at the high points of shooting with camera cranked to ISO 3200 (and beyond!) \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic
DESCRIPTION:Recommended prerequisite: This class is solely on editing and processing your images in Lightroom. We recommend having understanding of how file organization in Lightroom works\, so we recommend our online File Management in Lightroom course prior to taking this class. \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have limited attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery! \nEditing in Adobe Lightroom\nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nIn week one\, we’ll talk about file types and adjustment ranges using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. In week two\, we’ll dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. Finally\, in week three\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including Sharpening\, HDR\, Pano stitching and more.\nEach week\, we will give an assignment and students will upload their edited photos prior to the next class. We will\, by and large\, be working with your images in the class. \nThis class is strongly recommended for anyone either looking to just get started with editing\, or to fine-tune your editing skills! \nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. SUMMARY:Online: Sharpening Your Vision- How\, When\, & Why to Use Image Sharpening
DESCRIPTION:***Please note new date!*** \nThursday March 31st\, 7pm EST • Online! \nRecommended prerequisite: We strongly recommend having a basic knowledge of Adobe Lightroom from our Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic class \nInstructor: TBD! \nWant to get this class after it’s been run?– We have an online store where you can purchase all our previously run classes here: https://ebay.huntsphoto.com/buy-previous-courses/ \nBelow the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nCourse Description\nYou’ve taken an amazing photograph: The color is exquisite\, the composition is spot on\, and it is tack sharp. Or maybe you’ve got the first two things going for you\, but the focus is just so-so. In both of these cases\, image sharpening–the process of creating contrast on the edges of detail– is important to consider and understand.\nAnd yet\, sharpening is also one of the most difficult editing tools to understand and master. Because it’s based on fine detail\, image sharpening isn’t always easy to notice when applying it. Often\, over-sharpening can occur which can have negative effects on your image.\nThis class will help get you on the right track to proper sharpening. We’ll discuss the basics of image sharpening\, including what images will benefit from it\, and what standard changes to make in Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Camera RAW. We will also discuss the role other programs\, such as Topaz Sharpening AI\, play in the process. \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. \nWant to get this class after it’s been run?– We have an online store where you can purchase all our previously run classes here: https://ebay.huntsphoto.com/buy-previous-courses/ \nRegister here\n***Having trouble registering? You can also register by clicking here! \n \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery! \nMastering Manual Mode\nLearning about photography can be a real challenge. There are so many pieces to the puzzle of photography\, some of which use confusing terminology. For this reason\, we often start newcomers off using the Priority Modes because it’s “easier”. In reality\, these priority modes are just a short-term solution. It’s important to fully understand the “why” and “how” of your camera settings\, and learning to master manual is an excellent way to do so. \nThis Multi-Session Series will focus on Mastering Manual Mode. In week 1\, we’ll cover the technical side of aperture\, shutter\, and ISO. We’ll also discuss metering modes\, reading your meter\, and understanding histograms. In week 2\, we’ll learn to control depth of field\, focusing\, and how lens choice affects aperture choice. By week 3\, we’ll discuss how to use shutter speed effectively to either blur your motion or freeze your action. We’ll talk about shooting at night and in low light. We’ll also talk about ISO and how it controls image noise. In week 4\, we’ll put everything together by discussing dynamic range\, white balance\, and how to get the correct exposure in camera every time. We’ll also answer the most important question of all: which change should I make to achieve my desired results? \nEach week Emily will give an assignment to help further the topics covered in that week’s class. Students are encouraged to send in assignments that will be individually critiqued by Emily each week. This is a great opportunity to enhance your exposure skills while getting direct feedback on your week. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure! During each class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Question box if you have specific questions as they are asked. \nNo online classes should be shared and cannot be shared in a public environment\, including with camera clubs\nThe online content is the copyright of Hunt’s Photo Education and/or the Instructor. Join us for four days of in-field photography and instruction as we search out and photograph one of the herds of wild horses in Utah!\nThis is a unique photography workshop right out of “The Old West”! Wild Horses have occupied this mountainous region of Utah since the late 1800’s. The herd is approximately 200 – 250 horses and is the largest herd of wild horses in the west. Mares and stallions average around 800 to 1000 pounds. The colors within the herd are brown\, bay\, paint\, sorrel\, roan\, buckskin\, black\, palomino\, and gray. The variety is endless due to the frequent breeding within the herd. There are many foal\, yearlings and colts that roam with the herd. The horses are in good condition and are frequently seen in the vicinity of the Pony Express Trail in the valley floor. On this workshop\, we will photograph the wild horses as well as other local scenes and wildlife.\nOn this workshop\, you will want to bring a variety of lenses\, from wide-angle to super-telephoto. The distance to your subjects can vary\, as the horses can be right next to you or far in the distance\, but it is certainly recommended to consider bringing a super-telephoto in the range of 500-600mm. Please keep in mind that you can always rent lenses from Hunt’s Rentals and at a decent cost! \nWe will maximize our time in the field shooting a multitude of subjects as well as incorporating classroom instruction\, critiques\, and photographic assignments each day. \nWhat’s included:\n• Four days of in-field photography and instruction\n• Ground transportation during the 4 days in the field\n• Lunch while in the field (Please advise us of any food restrictions or food allergies)\n• BLM photo workshop permits\n• Experienced workshop leaders\n• Image Discussion and Review Sessions \nWhat’s not included:\n• Air fare or baggage fees to and from Salt Lake City\, Utah\n• Cost of hotel (We will be staying at the Best Western in Tooele\, 435-882-5010)\n• Cost of food (with the exception of lunch in the field)\n• Any activities outside the tour itinerary\n• Travel insurance (which is highly recommended for all travelers) \nSkill Sets: All Levels of Photographers are Welcome\nPhysical Activity: Low \nIn this workshop we will cover: \nExposure\nComposition\nMetering\nUse of Lenses\nSubject Development\nCreative Thinking\nShooting in Low Light\nLong Exposures\nUse of Filters (polarizers and ND)\nImage Processing\nImage Review\nImage Critiquing \nLodging is not included in the cost of this Adventure. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure! During each class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Question box if you have specific questions as they are asked. \nNo online classes should be shared and cannot be shared in a public environment\, including with camera clubs\nThe online content is the copyright of Hunt’s Photo Education and/or the Instructor. The Smokies are renowned for their diversity of nature\, abundant plant and wildlife\, rushing streams\, and ancient mountains. The month of April reveals many beautiful aspects of Spring throughout the park as we explore and pursue a variety of subject matter. In Cades Cove\, we will explore the cultural elements of the mountain people. Along Tremont\, we will expand our creativity by photographing rushing water and quiet landscapes. Throughout the park there is an abundance of wildflowers and wildlife to enjoy. From the top of Clingman’s Dome\, we will capture mountain vista’s that are breathtaking. Each day\, we will work on concepts of Subject Development\, Exposure\, Image Composition\, Architectural Photography\, Black and White Photography\, Low Light Photography\, and Long Exposures. There is nothing quite like the Great Smoky Mountains.\nWe will maximize our time in the field with hands on instruction as well as incorporating group discussion\, classroom instruction\, and image review during the workshop. Once on location\, we will utilize local transportation to and from each destination. \nWhat’s included:\n•Daily excursions in and around locations in Great Smoky Mountain National Park\n•In-field instruction at each location\n•Image Discussion and Review \nWhat’s not included:\n•Air fare and transportation to Gatlinburg\, TN\n•Cost of hotel (We will be staying at the Black Bear Inn in Gatlinburg 865-436-5656)\n•Cost of food\n•Travel insurance (which is highly recommended for all travelers) \nA Note About Traveling to Gatlinburg: It is recommended to fly into McGhee-Tyson airport in Knoxville. From there\, you will need to rent a car to get to Gatlinburg\, about an hour drive away. Due to the variety of times attendees will be arriving\, we will be unable to pick up attendees from the airport\, which is about 60 minutes away\, and so a car rental will be necessary to get to Gatlinburg. In the weeks leading up to this adventure\, we will try to connect attendees that may be arriving at similar times in order to share rides through car rental. \nHotel information\nWe will be staying at the Black Bear Inn in Gatlinburg\, TN\, 865-436-5656. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure! During each class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Question box if you have specific questions as they are asked. \nNo online classes should be shared and cannot be shared in a public environment\, including with camera clubs\nThe online content is the copyright of Hunt’s Photo Education and/or the Instructor. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure! During each class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Question box if you have specific questions as they are asked. \nNo online classes should be shared and cannot be shared in a public environment\, including with camera clubs\nThe online content is the copyright of Hunt’s Photo Education and/or the Instructor. Please support our education team and instructors by not sharing this material! We appreciate your support\, and it’s thanks to that support that we are able to continue producing content! \nRegister here\n***Having trouble registering? The spellbinding history from the early Caribbean-Spanish explorers to the mid- twentieth century reads like a legendary novel. Life for the Cuban people changed dramatically in the 1960’s. It’s as if the country was placed in a time capsule for fifty years and suddenly emerged\, opening the doors to all who wish to explore. One can certainly feel the complexities of Cuba’s history and the strength of those who call it their home. The music makes you dance and the arts convey the struggles and triumphs. Cuba is absolutely fascinating. \nHunt’s Photo and Don Toothaker want to welcome you to this special photography workshop. We plan to challenge you to slow down\, think\, observe\, anticipate and feel each and every shot. Our days will be full of photographic opportunities\, instruction and discussion as we experience a very unique look into the heart and soul of Cuba. \nYour trip includes:\n•8 days & 7 nights in Havana and Cienfuegos\, Cuba.\n•24/7 Photography coaching\, tips\, tutorials and lessons.\n•Round trip airfare from Miami\, Tampa\, or Fort Lauderdale\, Florida to Havana.\n•Cuban visa processing and fee (There is an additional fee for Cuban born travelers).\n•Medical insurance while visiting Cuba.\n•All airline and airport fees (U.S. & Cuba except baggage & excess weight fees).\n•Ground transportation within Cuba.\n•All accommodations while visiting Cuba (Private Bed & Breakfast with air conditioned rooms and en-suite bathrooms).\n•Entrance fees when applicable.\n•All gratuities are included.\n•Experienced tour guides (English\, Spanish\, Portuguese and French speaking are available).\n•All meals are included (two “mixed” National drinks). Due to the nature of this photography tour\, some lunches may be light and “on the go”. Cuba has no fast food restaurants so we will do our best to keep the photographers happy and well fed while out in the field. Please advise us about any restrictions or food allergies. \nYour trip does not include:\n•Round-trip travel from your home to Miami\, Tampa\, or Fort Lauderdale\, Florida. Please note: If you are coming from the Greater Boston area\, we may be able to fly directly into Havana. However\, this flexibility changes from time to time due to government restrictions. We generally book flights a few months in advance of this trip\, at which point we will establish whether we can or cannot fly out of Boston.\n•Lodging in Miami\, Tampa\, or Fort Lauderdale\, Florida.\n•Baggage fees for overage.\n•Activities outside the tour itinerary.\n•Travel insurance\, which is highly recommended for all travelers.\n•Your passport will be required on this workshop. \nPlease note that this workshop is being coordinated by our travel agency. Because of this\, please note that registration and payment are handled by the agency. Registration and more detailed itinerary information for November 2022 can be found here.
