The common answer is as many as I can without being too uncomfortable. And so we pack up our wide\, standard\, telephoto\, prime\, and macro lenses and head out into the field\, forcing ourselves to endure limitless choices while sacrificing simplicity.\nOur Nifty Fifty workshops flip the script and force you to only carry one lens: A 50mm lens\, nostalgically referred to as a “nifty fifty”. With limitations\, what can you– the photographer\, the creator\, the artist– achieve?\nThese workshops will start with our basic photo walk\, where we will meet in the field and work with only a 50mm lens in a specific location. Attendees will then submit a handful of images for an online image review\, to be held a few days later. During that image review\, we will be able to see others’ work\, discuss how to achieve different effects\, and consider editing choices. This is an excellent workshop for all photographers–from Beginner to Advanced–because it forces you to work in a different way. \nWalk Description\nFor this workshop\, we will be photographing from Chinatown to Downtown Crossing. Chinatown and Downtown Crossing (and areas in between) are two easily recognizable areas in downtown Boston. Boston’s Chinatown is quite small in size\, but has many unique sites and is the last remaining historic Chinese area in New England. Downtown Crossing is home to street vendors and a myriad number of shopping establishments with bright lights. Sandwiched in between is the Theater District of Boston. All three provide excellent opportunities to photograph the unique architecture and people of the area\, all using that lovely 50mm glass!\n*Question: Are other prime lenses acceptable? Olympus/Panasonic users may use a 25mm lens\, since it gives the same look as a 50mm and other primes can be used as an alternative\, but we ask that you try to keep it at one prime in as close to that range as possible. \nUpdated COVID-19 Policies for outdoor Hunt’s Photo Walks and Workshops\nHunt’s Photo Education is aligning with CDC and state guidelines and will no longer require face masks for our outdoor Photo Walks.
