SUMMARY:Online: The Printed Vision- Workshopping Holiday Cards
DESCRIPTION:Presentation: Monday November 22nd\, 7-8pm • Online! \nReview of the Cards: Tuesday December 7th\, 7-9pm • Online! \nRecommended prerequisite: \nInstructor: Paul Nelson \nBelow the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run.\nAbout The Printed Vision Series\nThe printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product\, which is the purpose behind the Printed Vision Series.\nEach Printed Vision topic will meet for two sessions. In the first session\, we will discuss the topic and elaborate on editing with examples. This will include discussion of exposure\, dynamic range and color\, but also deeper points\, such as noise reduction\, image sharpening and grain. In between sessions 1 and 2\, attendees will independently process 1-2 images and submit them to the instructor for printing. We will print one of the two images leading into the second session and discuss some of the challenges we face in printing them.\nYou do not need to produce a new image for this class and can go into your archives to print\, but you are welcome to go out into the field and create something new based on the topic! \nThis Month’s Printed Vision Session: Workshopping Holiday Cards\nIn case you haven’t noticed\, this instructor puts a lot of stress and effort into holiday and greeting cards! So many things can be said about printing small: If you can’t make it good small\, you can’t make it good big; printing small presents a wonderful level of intimacy; cards are a way to easily distribute your work\, your passions\, your vision! In this instructor’s mind\, nothing is better than a pristine\, home-printed card.\nThe purpose of this class is twofold: 1- Find an image and workshop it for maximum effect in a printed card and 2- Work with you on how to print. IMPORTANT: In every printed vision class\, we print images. Usually\, it’s a large scale print\, but here we will be printing cards. In the end\, we will print 10 cards that will be yours to distribute. Please note: We will not have the ability to print hundreds of holiday cards for you in this way. The purpose is for us to see the end result and create small-batch custom prints accordingly. \nReceiving Your Print\nAfter the class\, your print can either be mailed to you or picked up at one of our Hunt’s Photo store locations. \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! SUMMARY:Online: The Printed Vision- Making a Fine Art Print
DESCRIPTION:Presentation: Thursday December 9th\, 7-8pm • Online! \nPrinted Image Review: Thursday December 16th\, 6-8pm • In our Hunt’s Melrose store or Online! \nRecommended prerequisite: An interest in printing (But you do NOT need a printer!) \nInstructor: Paul Nelson \nBelow the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run.\nAbout The Printed Vision Series\nThe printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. \nThis Month’s Printed Vision Session: Making a Fine Art Print \nTo print fine art or not to print fine art: That is the question. What does it mean to make a fine art print? What photographic papers define fine art? What editing choices should we make to get through the emotions of the print? How do we calculate our editing with our paper choices?\nIn this class\, we will discuss the answers to these questions in our instructional online presentation\, held on the first date\, then workshop your images in order to make a fine art print. We will reconvene the following week for our Printed Image Review. You will have that time period in between to edit and submit your images. In the end\, you will receive a fine art print of your edited image up to 13×19″ in size. (Please note: The cost of a 12×18 or 13×19 print on fine art paper is $35-$40; the cost of this class includes the cost of that print!)\nRemember\, tis the season\, and we don’t need to “buy buy buy” in order to give a wonderfully creative gift. Consider creating a fine art print and giving that to a friend or loved one! We will also discuss framing options and how that plays into the holidays.\nJoin us for this quintessential Printed Vision class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. \nRegister here\n***Having trouble registering? You can also register by clicking here! \n \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

Sturbridge Village is a living history museum that features many authentic period buildings and homes to explore and enjoy. The village is also inhabited by re-enactors who provide colorful insight to life in New England during the 18th century. Sturbridge Village is a wonderful destination for a multitude of photographic opportunities as well as a glimpse into a bygone era. \nFor the holiday season\, Olde Sturbridge Village will be featuring their annual Christmas by Candlelight. During this time\, the village is decorated and the people of Sturbridge recreate many of winter traditions\, not just from the holiday season. This is a unique and different look to Olde Sturbridge Village\, excellent for both those who have and have not been previously.\nWe will also hold an introductory presentation leading up to the walk\, which will include images from Sturbridge Village’s Christmas by Candlelight\, discussing some of the settings\, what to bring\, and things to look for while at Sturbridge. If you cannot attend\, we will send out the recording the following day. \nPlease note: The cost of your ticket INCLUDES the ticket entrance to Sturbridge Village. If you need to cancel\, please also note that we cannot refund the cost of the ticket\, which is $25. \nUpdated COVID-19 Policies for outdoor Hunt’s Photo Walks and Workshops\nHunt’s Photo Education is aligning with CDC and state guidelines and will no longer require face masks for our outdoor Photo Walks. If you are more comfortable wearing a mask\, please feel free to do so. We also recommend bringing a mask\, just in case. We also ask that you maintain social distance of 6 feet from one another.\nHunt’s Photo Education will still adhere to our 8 person attendee maximum per Photo Walk with a single instructor (unless otherwise noted).\nAs always\, if you are sick or feeling unwell\, STAY HOME! We will gladly give you a credit towards a future walk. \nThese guidelines will stay in place until further notice. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.
The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. \nRegister here\n***Having trouble registering? We’ll discuss changing depth-of-field (controlling what’s in focus in the background\, stopping or blurring the action in your scene\, and many other basic picture-taking techniques. We recommend taking this class prior to Digital Photography Basics 2\, which is the next logical step!\n\nJoin us to start learning about Digital Photography!\n\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\n\nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed.
