We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery! \nLandscape Photography\nLandscape photography is one of the most easily accessible genres of photography and is enjoyed by many. What does it take to create a landscape image that stands out? Join Hunt’s Photo Education as we go beyond “F8 and be there” and dive deep into the technical\, artistic\, and practical aspects of landscape photography.  \nIn week one\, we’ll cover what it takes to plan and the settings necessary for your best shots. We’ll also talk about the gear all landscape photographers should have in their bags and what to do when the weather just won’t cooperate. In week two\, we’ll edit landscape images from start to finish using Adobe Lightroom Classic. By week three\, we’ll discuss composition\, dynamic range\, depth of field\, and focus. We’ll also discuss when to shoot in color and when to shoot in black and white. In our last week\, we’ll cover shooting and editing HDR images and panorama images in Adobe Lightroom Classic. We’ll also cover shooting landscapes at night as well as astrolandscapes. Each week\, Emily will give an assignment to hone your new skills and each student will receive individualized critiques. Please make sure to read them prior to registering. \nWalk Description\nLocated an hour west of Boston\, Sturbridge Village is a proud replication of an 18th century New England town. Sturbridge Village is a living history museum that features many authentic period buildings and homes to explore and enjoy. The village is also inhabited by re-enactors who provide colorful insight to life in New England during the 18th century. Sturbridge Village is a wonderful destination for a multitude of photographic opportunities as well as a glimpse into a bygone era. \nOlde Sturbridge Village is perhaps one of the best places to have both a Photo Walk and a class. There’s a little bit of everything at this living history museum\, from macro and closeup with fine details to architecture\, from portraits to landscapes. We will photograph both indoors and outdoors\, in regular light as well as very low light. We will discuss how to work with subjects to create a story\, and also work on settings to fine-tune focus and exposure! This Photo Walk is one of the best opportunities to build your photographic knowledge\, no matter what level. This walk is equally as beneficial as a first walk or a twentieth walk\, as the area has so much to offer! However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nIn week one\, we’ll talk about file types and adjustment ranges using Basic Development controls. Please make sure to read them prior to registering. \nWalk Description\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a photo walk through MIT in Cambridge and onto Memorial Drive overlooking the Charles. On the walk\, we will discuss Architectural Photography\, Image Composition\, Long Exposures\, and Black and White Photography. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. \nMIT is not only famous as a research institute and school\, but also for the stunning architecture that has been commissioned. These include the Landau Building (“The Wedge”)\, The Dreyfuss Building\, Simmons Hall (“The Sponge”)\, the Zesiger Center (“Z-Center”)\, the newly constructed Sean Collier Memorial\, and the Stata Center (pictured). We will discuss the many ways these pieces of architecture can be photographed in the evening and night skies. Our walk will take us in and out of the MIT campus and along Memorial Drive and the Charles River. DESCRIPTION:Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nThere is so much to think about in photography– from settings and composition to editing and post processing and so much more– that it can be easy to get lost within your images. Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a chance to discuss one of your images in a review and critique session\, where we will discuss many of these topics and how they work in your image. Our Hunt’s Photo Education Team firmly believes that presenting personal work and observing peer work is paramount to the growth and development of your photographic vision. \nThis Week’s Topic\nFor this week’s topic\, all attendees will submit an image for review or critique of a cityscape. This can be a photograph of a cityscape at night\, in the morning\, or during the day. During the review and critique\, we will discuss image composition\, exposure\, focus\, and all the settings associated with the image. You are welcome to edit the image you submit or leave it unedited.\nIf you are editing exporting from Lightroom or Capture One\, we ask that you export the image as a DNG\, or save the RAW file with a XMP sidecar file so that we can reedit the image\, if need be. (If you’re unsure what a DNG file is\, watch this short video about exporting as DNG. And if you cannot save the file in either formats and choose to submit an edited photo\, please submit an edited and unedited version so we can reedit\, if need be.)\nWe encourage photographers of all levels to consider this course\, as it is as valuable to seasoned professional as it is to a beginner! \nThis class will be a small group of up to 10-15 attendees. On this walk we will discuss settings and techniques for long exposures\, architectural photography\, cityscapes\, black and white\, and composition.\nWe will start near Faneuil Hall photographing Quincy Market as the sun sets. We will also discuss “blue hour” and how to capture that vivid blue sky. We will then walk to the Old State House and work on capturing light trails and fine-tuning our long exposures. For example: taking a photo of someone outside at night by using a portable flash and also capturing the city lights in the background. There is quite a lot to know about this technique because it involves color balance as well as exposure balance. Bobbi explains how to get the proper balance of exposure between the two light sources-flash and ambient- then how to creatively play by shaking or spinning the camera\, zooming the lens\, panning and more. The flash will light the subject and freeze any motion\, and then moving the camera will blur the background in a variety of ways. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend.\nThe Heritage Museum and Gardens is “the largest public garden in Southern New England”\, with over 100 acres of beautifully kept grounds. In addition to the wide variety of trees\, shrubs\, flowers\, daylilies\, hostas\, herb\, and heather gardens\, the grounds also have historic indoor exhibits\, including one of classic cars and sculpture. Portrait photographers keep themselves busy utilizing the warm weather and long days\, but what are the important elements to understand about portraits? What is “good” light? (When) Should I use a flash? What are some standards of editing portraits in Lightroom\, Capture One\, or Photoshop? \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education as we continue our Multi-Session Series into the realm of portraits! In Portraits- Natural Light and Flash\, we will emphasize creating portraits using available light through subject placement and composition\, with the aid of diffusers and reflectors\, but then explain when\, where\, and why to utilize flash\, and how we can achieve extraordinary results with a little bit of knowledge! \nIn week one\, we will discuss “Looking for the Light”\, where we will consider a variety of possibilities and how to consider where to place your subject and how to light them naturally using reflectors and diffusers. Quaint eateries\, fine restaurants\, and historic locations are characteristics that make the North End one of Boston’s premier destinations. \nThis walk is also an excellent chance to work on street photography. During the first few hours\, our light will start to change\, giving us some excellent opportunities at casual portraits and street scenes. Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a chance to discuss one of your images in a review and critique session\, where we will discuss many of these topics and how they work in your image. Our Hunt’s Photo Education Team firmly believes that presenting personal work and observing peer work is paramount to the growth and development of your photographic vision. \nThis Week’s Topic\nFor this week’s topic\, all attendees will submit an image for review or critique of food! Photographing food is a challenging endeavor that requires a knowledge of photography\, of food\, and the patience to not snack on what you’re photographing! During the review and critique\, we will discuss numerous topics\, such as image composition\, exposure\, focus\, and all the settings associated with the image. Is the food appetizing or not? (Is it supposed to be?) Are color and exposure correct? We will figure all of this out during the class! You are welcome to edit the image you submit or leave it unedited.\nIf you are editing exporting from Lightroom or Capture One\, we ask that you export the image as a DNG\, or save the RAW file with a XMP sidecar file so that we can reedit the image\, if need be. Please make sure to read them prior to registering.\n \n \nWalk Description\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education as we explore Horn Pond’s 102-acre body of water along the Aberjona River in Woburn\, Massachusetts. On this walk\, we will have numerous shooting opportunities from birds to flowers to landscapes and more! We may have a chance at some hummingbirds\, as well as other birds in the area\, and we will benefit from the flowers of the season. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend! \nHorn Pond is a wonderfully scenic area\, offering many outdoor activities such as hiking and bike riding. These same trails are an excellent place to explore many types of photographic opportunities\, emphasizing nature\, landscape\, and macro. On many of our walks\, the quality of day can positively or negatively affect how our images turn out. On this walk\, we will emphasize making the best out of any situation\, whether cloudy\, sunny or rainy (well\, not too rainy). Bring your creative thoughts! \nWe recommend having both a standard zoom lens and telephoto zoom lens\, preferably one that will go to 200mm or above. \nPlease note: There will be a good amount of walking on this Photo Walk. During this walk\, we will work on use of color\, close up/macro photography\, use of tripods\, depth of field\, exposure and use of reflectors/diffusers.\nThe Stevens-Coolidge Place is a unique estate in North Andover that benefits from a beautiful indoor space\, but is also quite famous for beautifully maintained grounds that include a rose garden\, greenhouse\, and more. During the walk\, we will discuss many of the aspects of photographing in low light and at night\, including exposure\, focusing\, composition\, and more. Photographers of all levels are welcome!\nThe South Boston Waterfront\, commonly referred to as the “Seaport District”\, is one of the fastest growing areas in Massachusetts. It holds the beautiful ICA Boston- Institute of Contemporary Art; the Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center; one of the first modern “Innovation Districts”; the Harpoon Brewery and Taproom; and many hotels and nearly one hundred restaurants. It’s vibrant\, filled with people\, and truly fabulous to photograph.
