SUMMARY:Online: Personal Vision Series- Celebrating Summer
DESCRIPTION:Recommended prerequisite: \nInstructor: Don Toothaker \nClass Size: Limited to 8 attendees \nBelow the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run. \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education as we help grow your knowledge\, creativity\, and artistic expression with our expanded Personal Vision Series. These classes are designed to provide you time\, opportunity\, and guidance in shaping your creative photographic voice. We will give an overview on a specific topic in an online class session\, then give you time to go into the field by yourself (or with someone else\, if you choose) to complete an assignment based on that topic. We will reconvene a few days later for an online image review to discuss elements of your images.\nThe Personal Vision Series is a crossroads of many different ideas that we offer with Hunt’s Photo Education: Topic-based instruction/classes\, Photo Walks\, & Image Reviews. However\, unlike a Photo Walk where we will all take a certain direction\, for the “Walk” portion\, you will be asked to journey out on your own to photograph. This will cause you to be the driving force of your creativity and vision!\nThis week’s topic is Celebrating Summer. We will have an instructional online presentation during our first session and will reconvene for our Image Review during our second session. You will have that time period in between to photograph and edit our assignment.\nYour personal creative voice is critical to your growth as a photographer and as an artist. Join us for to help grow that voice! \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. \nNo online classes should be shared and cannot be shared in a public environment\, including with camera clubs\nThe online content is the copyright of Hunt’s Photo Education and/or the Instructor. Please support our education team and instructors by not sharing this material! We appreciate your support\, and it’s thanks to that support that we are able to continue producing content! \nRegister here\n***Having trouble registering? You can also register by clicking here! \n \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.

In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery! \nLandscape Photography\nLandscape photography is one of the most easily accessible genres of photography and is enjoyed by many. What does it take to create a landscape image that stands out? Join Hunt’s Photo Education as we go beyond “F8 and be there” and dive deep into the technical\, artistic\, and practical aspects of landscape photography. \nIn week one\, we’ll cover what it takes to plan and the settings necessary for your best shots. We’ll also talk about the gear all landscape photographers should have in their bags and what to do when the weather just won’t cooperate. In week two\, we’ll edit landscape images from start to finish using Adobe Lightroom Classic. By week three\, we’ll discuss composition\, dynamic range\, depth of field\, and focus. We’ll also discuss when to shoot in color and when to shoot in black and white. In our last week\, we’ll cover shooting and editing HDR images and panorama images in Adobe Lightroom Classic. We’ll also cover shooting landscapes at night as well as astrolandscapes. Each week\, Emily will give an assignment to hone your new skills and each student will receive individualized critiques. Emily is also available to answer any questions along the way. \nJoin us for this fun and unique multi-session series that will help you develop your skills with landscapes! \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure! During each class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Question box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end. \n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this\, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. If handouts and PDFs are included\, we will send it out with the link for the video. \nNo online classes should be shared and cannot be shared in a public environment\, including with camera clubs\nThe online content is the copyright of Hunt’s Photo Education and/or the Instructor. The first step to creating a great print is by understanding how to create a great photograph in the field.\nCapture-To-Print is an intermediate workshop that focuses not only on photography\, but also editing and printing! Half photo workshop\, half editing and printing\, we will take you through the whole process–from Capture to Print— to demonstrate what is important in the field\, how to effectively process photos\, and why printing is a necessity. \nAbout this workshop\nWe will begin at the South Boston Waterfront\, also known as the “Seaport District”. This area of constant expansion holds the beautiful ICA Boston- Institute of Contemporary Art; the Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center; one of the first modern “Innovation Districts”; the Harpoon Brewery and Taproom; and many hotels and nearly one hundred restaurants. There’s so much to photograph\, from architecture to people to details to long exposures and will give us an excellent\, diverse body of work that we can use to find images that we want to print. \nAfter the workshop\, attendees will edit their photos on their own and upload 2-3 images to the instructors for review. We will review those edits\, individually discuss your editing choices and make suggestions for additional edits\, then print the images as 12×18″ on fine art paper. We will conclude the workshop the following week with a printed image review. We will hold the review in our Melrose store\, but if you cannot attend this\, you will also be able to watch it online. (The session will also be recorded if you cannot make it to the online session live.) \nThis will be a fun and challenging workshop that will walk you through the full process of creating a print\, from capture to edit to print. The process of printing is integral to developing one’s photographic vision. \nReceiving Your Print\nAfter the class\, your print can either be mailed to you or picked up at one of our Hunt’s Photo store locations. \nRegister here\n***Having trouble registering? You can also register by clicking here! \n\nIf you are attending this workshop\, we will send out more specific instructions to you a few days prior to the workshop. Please note: Some slight details above can be subject to change. This email will detail any of those minor changes. \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up. \nDress and Gear \n•Make sure to dress accordingly with the most current weather report.\n•Consider bringing wide angle or standard zoom lenses\, and a telephoto zoom lens\n•A prime lens (or even a macro) may also suit you well.\n•You are welcome to bring Neutral Density (ND) filters\n•You can bring a telephoto zoom lens\, but be advised to bring only what you want to carry.\n•Make sure to bring your tripod with a quick release plate and a shutter release\, if you have one.\n•Feel free to bring snacks and water\, and a flashlight will likely help as well.\n•Bring an extra camera battery and memory cards.\n•As always\, bring your enthusiasm and creative thoughts!

There are so many pieces to the puzzle of photography\, some of which use confusing terminology. And while we also offer other wonderful Beginner Photography classes to get you started\, nothing is truly the same as hands-on in-the-field! It’s important to fully understand the “why” and “how” of your camera settings. \nIn this outdoor\, hands-on class\, you’ll learn all about the basics of photography. We will discuss Exposure (how light works with the camera)\, the Big Three Settings (Aperture\, Shutter Speed\, & ISO)\, how they affect your picture and how to set them\, and what mode to set it to on your camera! We recommend having understanding of how file organization in Lightroom works\, so we recommend our online File Management in Lightroom course prior to taking this class. \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In each of these classes\, we will have limited attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery! \nEditing in Adobe Lightroom\nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nIn week one\, we’ll talk about file types and adjustment ranges using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. In week two\, we’ll dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. Finally\, in week three\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including Sharpening\, HDR\, Pano stitching and more.\nEach week\, we will give an assignment and students will upload their edited photos prior to the next class. We will\, by and large\, be working with your images in the class. \nThis class is strongly recommended for anyone either looking to just get started with editing\, or to fine-tune your editing skills! \nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information. Please support our education team and instructors by not sharing this material! We appreciate your support\, and it’s thanks to that support that we are able to continue producing content! \nRegister here\n*Please note: We have been experiencing issues with registration on the Safari web browser\, so you may want to consider using an alternative browser such as Google Chrome or Firefox. Join Hunt’s Photo Education and our guest instructor– Media Instructor and Yearbook Advisor Jim Valente from Malden High School– for a week-long photography program aimed at strengthening their interest\, improving their photography\, and getting them truly excited about being the artist\, the creator\, and the family photographer! \nOver the course of five days\, we will cover a wide range of topics\, from composition & perspective to depth of field & movement. Every day we’ll have a brief introduction to a topic followed by a fun practical exercise. Our goal is to get your photographers outside and taking pictures as much as possible! (Inside on rainy days\, too.) At the end of the day\, we’ll look back on the images to see what we liked about them. And at the end of the week\, we’ll print and display images from all of our students in our Hunt’s Photo Gallery for all to see. \nOur goal in this program is to have a lot of fun and not bog students down with too much technical stuff. However\, we will also scaffold instruction\, so if an attendee wants to know more about the technical aspects\, they still can! \nStudents will be required to have some kind of camera. This can be a cell phone\, a point and shoot camera\, or a DSLR/mirrorless camera. Pretty much any camera that works is acceptable! (A film camera could also work\, but be advised it will be more time and cost to develop the film\, so it may not be the best choice for this program.) \nThis will be a fun week with experienced instruction. We look forward to seeing you there! \n*A few notes about our recommended age requirements*\nOur age requirement is very general. A certain maturity level is helpful. Younger children with interest and a level of responsibility are welcome to attend. As we mention\, we will scaffold instruction for any age range.\nAll parents/guardians will need to sign off on a permission slip to attend this course. Our classes will be held in our Hunt’s Photo\, Melrose store and classroom\, and surrounding outdoor areas\, including Pine Banks Park. We assure you that your student will be in a safe and fun environment. If you have any questions\, please feel free to contact us at classes@huntsphoto.com. \nUpdated COVID-19 Policies on Masks and Social Distancing \nHunt’s Photo Education is aligning with CDC and state guidelines. We no longer require face masks for our indoor classes. We ask that attendees maintain social distance. If attendees would prefer to wear a mask\, they are welcome to do so. \nRegister here\n***Having trouble registering? You can also register by clicking here! \n \nPlease read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up. \nWhat to bring\n•Students will be required to have some kind of camera. This can be a cell phone\, a point and shoot camera\, or a DSLR/mirrorless camera. Pretty much any camera that works is acceptable!\n•Please make sure whatever camera they bring has a fully charged battery and a memory card\, if necessary.\n•We encourage bringing a snack and water\, but not a full lunch\, as we will be ending by noon\n•As always\, have them bring their enthusiasm and creative thoughts!

We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end.\n\n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class!

SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic
DESCRIPTION:Recommended prerequisite: This class is solely on editing and processing your images in Lightroom. We recommend having understanding of how file organization in Lightroom works\, so we recommend our online File Management in Lightroom course prior to taking this class. \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In this multi-session workshop\, we will discuss basic posing techniques and how to position your subject’s hands and body\, and how to use angles\, perspective\, and depth of field to create a successful portrait. We will also discuss subject expression and how it relates to lighting! This will be a very fun and informative class!\nWe will have an introductory presentation on Tuesday August 17th at 7pm where we will discuss a number of these principles. Can’t attend this presentation or signing up late? We’ll send you a link in order to watch it on-demand. We will then meet on Sunday August 22nd at the Stevens-Coolidge Place in North Andover for the workshop. The Stevens-Coolidge place is a beautiful area for portraits and an excellent chance to learn posing. After the workshop\, attendees will be able to work with and digitally submit a handful of images for an online image review\, to be held the following week. During that image review\, we will be able to see others’ work\, discuss elements of subject positioning\, lighting\, composition and more\, and consider editing choices.\n\nThis workshop will also emphasize creating portraits using available light through subject placement and composition through the aid of diffusers and reflectors. We will begin photographing in the morning and use a variety of techniques to create successful portraits. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend.\n\n\nUpdated COVID-19 Policies for outdoor Hunt’s Photo Walks and Workshops\nHunt’s Photo Education is aligning with CDC and state guidelines and will no longer require face masks for our outdoor Photo Walks. SUMMARY:Online: The Printed Vision- Printing Landscapes
DESCRIPTION:Presentation: Wednesday August 4th\, 7-8pm • Online! \nPrinted Image Review: Wednesday August 18th\, 7-9pm • You can either attend the image review at our Hunt’s Photo Melrose location or watch online! \nInstructor: Paul Nelson \nBelow the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run.\nAbout The Printed Vision Series\nThe printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product\, which is the purpose behind the Printed Vision Series.\nEach Printed Vision topic will meet for two sessions. In the first session\, we will discuss the topic and elaborate on editing with examples. This will include discussion of exposure\, dynamic range and color\, but also deeper points\, such as noise reduction\, image sharpening and grain. In between sessions 1 and 2\, attendees will independently process 1-2 images and submit them to the instructor for printing. We will print one of the two images leading into the second session and discuss some of the challenges we face in printing them.\nYou do not need to produce a new image for this class and can go into your archives to print\, but you are welcome to go out into the field and create something new based on the topic! \nThis Month’s Printed Vision Session: Printing Landscapes\nLandscapes are easily some of the most sought-after images in photography. We all have a vision of stunning landscape photographs: Sweeping clouds filled with tender gradation atop a blue sky; a path leading into a forest of lush greenery; monochrome mountains adjacent to a foreboding sky\, all reflecting in a still pool of water. All of these images can evoke\, but seeing a digital representation of a landscape can only present so much of an image. A photograph\, when properly edited and printed\, will be able to fully display the range of blues and greens or embrace the full dynamic range of black and white.\nThat’s where our Printed Vision class comes in. This session\, we will delve into printing landscapes. We’ll discuss color management through the process of editing and also look at best practices when working with monochrome. We’ll also look at refining elements in a print\, such as image sharpening and noise reduction. As always\, we will discuss basic elements as well\, including how to choose the appropriate image\, how to properly exposure\, different paper options\, and more! Our instructional online presentation will be held on August 4th from 7-8pm and we will reconvene for our Printed Image Review on August 18th from 7-8:30pm. You will have that time period in between to photograph and/or edit your images. In the end\, you will receive a 12×18″ print on fine art paper. (Please note: The cost of a 12×18 or 13×19 print on fine art paper is $35-$40; the cost of this class includes the cost of that print!)\nThe Printed Vision classes are an excellent opportunity to learn more about not only about printing\, but also the processing of images at a much more focused level. Recommended for everyone: Beginners to Advanced Photographers. Come join us for a lot of fun! \nReceiving Your Print\nAfter the class\, your print can either be mailed to you or picked up at one of our Hunt’s Photo store locations. \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. \nRegister here\n***Having trouble registering?
