Online: Setting Up the Home Portrait Studio

April 17, 2020, 1:00 pm - 2:15 pm

$20

In response to COVID-19 and recommendations by the CDC of social distancing, Hunt’s Photo Education is presenting our new series of online classes! (Hey! We wanted to do it anyway, this just sped up the process!) These courses will be shorter (about 1 hour), online versions of many classes that we currently offer, plus a few new ones, and include Q&A at the end.
Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run.

We often receive questions about what is important to have in a home portrait studio. During our portrait workshops (and when time allows), we often like to set everything up with the attendees to get an idea of what we are using and why we are using it. We will answer these questions, as well as:
•The importance of multiple lights
•What lenses to use
•Where to place the subject and backgrounds
•Studio strobes vs. speedlights
•On-brand vs. off-brand speedlights
•The purpose of a square softbox vs an octobox
•Softboxes vs. umbrellas
•Triggers & Light meters
•What other important elements you should have in the studio

Join Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson as we discuss the basic elements of setting up a home portrait studio! One should never feel limited by creativity, and often working with lighting gear, folks feel disoriented. Let us help take away some of the mystery!

Registering and what is needed
After you register for this class, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information.

Layout of the class
The class will begin promptly at the time listed. The majority of the class–roughly 1 hour– will be a presentation on the topic, followed by a short Q&A. During the class, you are welcome to type in questions in the Chat box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions, but if not, feel free to ask them at the end.

“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)
We will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. If handouts and PDFs are included, we will send it out with the link for the video.

Can’t attend the class?
If you can’t attend the class but still want to download the video, no problem: Just sign up for the class! You don’t need to attend and we will send the video and PDF link the next day!

Want to get this class after it’s been run?
If you want to purchase this or any other of the classes we have done, you can certainly do so. Just send us an email at classes@huntsphoto.com and we can send you the invoice. (We prefer having folks in our classes, but this option is available as well if you want to see it!)

Please read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.
