Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run.
Wedding Photography is a tough business. Wedding photographers must have a mastery of their craft in order to properly photograph a wedding, because it (hopefully) only happens once! They must be able to pose and light their subjects, and edit, process, and deliver the images in a somewhat timely manner. In addition to this, they also need to be able to handle the business-end of the job, including how to properly price their services (and get hired).
Join Hunt’s Photo Education as we welcome photographer Bob Fletcher. In this introduction, Bob will discuss much of “the basics and the business” of wedding photography, including:
•Today’s wedding market
•Photographing the wedding
•Posing & Lighting
•Deliver of Images
•Follow Up
•Photographing weddings for Family & Friends
•How to make money at weddings
•Pricing your work – based on experience and your marketplace
•Training – How do I learn to photograph weddings
•Equipment – What minimum equipment do I need
•Paperwork – Contracts, etc.
About Bob Fletcher
I started photographing weddings professionally in January 1970. My early years were spent photographing weddings for a studio in Orange County, California shooting with medium format Hasselblad cameras. I eventually opened my own studio in Corona, California and my wedding photography took me to many places around the globe– Jamaica, Mexico, Italy, Switzerland, Alaska, Canada, and many, many states within the USA. Our studio eventually became the “Preferred Wedding Photographer” for Disneyland Anaheim and the Disney Hotel, amongst many other wedding venues.
In 1996 I started using the Kodak/Canon DCS hybrid digital cameras and was hooked on digital photography immediately. In 1999 I started working for Canon USA as a “stringer”. That relationship continues to this day.
I have always mentored beginning photographers and taught them the art and business of photography so they could also make a living from something that they loved to do.
After photographing over 3,250 weddings over a 43-year career in weddings, I chose to spend more time teaching photography classes and leading workshops. I currently spend most of my time working for Canon USA, teaching and leading workshops but I still like to photograph family and friends weddings on occasion.
It is a joy to share with others the love that I have for the art of photography and I thank you for being a part of that.
Please note: This class is an introduction to wedding photography. There are many facets to it, too numerous to fit into an introductory class. We plan to continue these classes as a series, delving more deeply into many of these topics. We encourage this class as an introduction.
