Photo Classes, Walks & Workshops
Featuring portraits in natural light & flash!
Recommended prerequisite: Working knowledge of your camera
We also recommend having some of the knowledge from our Beginner Photography class
All Skill Levels Welcome
Instructors: Don Toothaker & Paul Nelson
Class Size: Maximum 10 attendees
Join Hunt’s Photo Education for another entry in our series of portrait workshops where we will be working in natural light and mixing it up with flash! We will emphasize creating portraits using available light through subject placement and composition through the aid of diffusers and reflectors. We will then separately demonstrate reasons to add in flash.
We will begin photographing mid-day in the sunlight (and shade) and work to sunset. We will then utilize lower light techniques and photograph during twilight for some spectacular portrait results!
You are welcome to bring your own flashes and light modifiers (soft boxes, etc), but you also can use what we have with us as well. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend.
For this workshop, we have chosen the Stevens-Coolidge Place in North Andover, Massachusetts for our shooting location. The Stevens-Coolidge Place is a unique estate in North Andover that benefits from a beautiful indoor space, but is also famous for beautifully maintained grounds that include a rose garden, greenhouse, and more. On this workshop, we will benefit from the Stevens-Coolidge Place’s outdoor grounds, which will offer us an excellent variety of shooting options. Please note that part of your ticket price goes to your entrance into the Stevens-Coolidge Place. Hunt’s Photo Education is extremely happy to be working in cooperation with the Stevens-Coolidge Place! More information on the Stevens-Coolidge Place and its history can be found here.
Updated COVID-19 Policies for outdoor Hunt’s Photo Walks and Workshops
Hunt’s Photo Education is aligning with CDC and state guidelines and will no longer require face masks for our outdoor Photo Walks. If you are more comfortable wearing a mask, please feel free to do so. We also recommend bringing a mask, just in case. We also ask that you maintain social distance of 6 feet from one another.
In this workshop, our attendee maximum is higher, but we will have two instructors.
As always, if you are sick or feeling unwell, STAY HOME! We will gladly give you a credit towards a future walk.
