March 20, 2014

Another Season

It has been a long winter.  Storms, heaps of snow, and bitter cold have seemingly added extra weeks to this winter.  My calendar tells me that today, March 20th, is the first day of spring.  I have waited for spring; I need spring.  Is it really here?

Mother Nature is unpredictable despite the timetable we set for her.  We trust her to bring us many wonderful things, on time, but her mood is often fickle.  The view from my window this morning clearly resembles winter.  A touch of fresh snow on top of icy remnants of previous storms sure doesn’t look like spring.  The temperature at the bus stop represented the bite of winter more so than the anticipated warmth of spring.  Could my calendar be wrong?

No longer able to tolerate Mother Nature’s twisted sense of humor, I set out in my not so big yard to find something to confirm my calendar was correct.  I bundled up against the wind, put on some footwear for moving over the light, fresh snow, and went searching.  I looked along the house, I poked around behind the barn, and I scoured the usually mossy patches along the front gardens:  nothing.  My last hope was the sunlit area around the small man-made pond outside the kitchen window.  There, amidst the broken twigs, dead leaves, and crushed pine cones, I found it.  Right before me, just inches off the ground, in beautiful, bold color I found spring.

Winter season essays may discuss great many of different topics. Students should choose some of the winter season essay ideas in this article.

My calendar was right!

Spring Abstract_DT3_0975-236

Spring is here and with it comes a triumphant return of color and warmth.  Despite Mother Nature’s quirky schedule she can’t help but give us one of her most glorious moments:  spring.  We have waited impatiently but, now, what will you do with it?  What will you do with this new season?  What will you do about your wishes, dreams, and hopes as everything around you blooms and comes to life?  Everything happens in its own time and everything happens for a reason.  Believe in that.

It is not unusual, or wrong, to look forward to something we love and enjoy.  The trick, to all things, is to make the most of what is given to you – no matter how large or small – when it is given to you.  Life is not lived by a calendar or a schedule.  Living means making the most of every day in every season.  Happy spring!
