Saturday, November 28th, 8am-4pm
8am-11am, The North End, Boston • 1pm-4pm Hunt’s Melrose
Recommended prerequisite: Beginner Photography or equivalent
Join us for a unique walk that combines the instruction of our Beyond the Basics class with the hands-on features of our Photo Walks.
We will start in the North End with a bit of discussion of these “Beyond the Basic” topics, followed by some shooting in and around the area. While photographing, we will also discuss many topics that we cover on our Photo Walks, such as subject development, black and white, and architectural photography. At some point between 11 and noon, we will break and head back to Melrose, where we will have an image review session based on those images taken on the walk. In reviewing the images, we will look at image composition and cropping, how to cull quality images, and we will discuss what options are available for editing and some of the basics of workflow.
Boston is often referred to as a “city of neighborhoods”. One of the city’s most notable neighborhoods, and its oldest, is the North End. Beginning in the 1600s this is where immigrants to the New World entered the city for the first time, which made the North End a busy, vibrant center of activity. Today, this tightly knit area is known as “Little Italy” given the prominent Italian-American influence and population found here. Quaint eateries, fine restaurants, and historic locations are characteristics that make the North End one of Boston’s premier destinations.
This walk is strongly recommended for those that have taken our Beginner Photography and were interested in taking our Beyond the Basics class. (It isn’t the same, but it covers the same material.)
