Fort Warren is a Civil War-era fort located on Georges Island in Boston Harbor. The fort was built with granite from nearby quarries in Quincy and upon completion was used to house Confederate prisoners of war during the Civil War (1861-1865). The fort stayed in service until World War I, but was then was decommissioned. Long abandoned, the fort still maintains a parade ground and several billeting, munitions, and defenses that make for adventurous and graphic images.
