Hunt’s Photo Workshop…on the Water: Birding in Newbury Great Marsh in Ipswich

June 15, 2019, 8:00 am - 2:00 pm

$275

Join us aboard an offshore power catamaran with Capt. John T. Pirie on a private tour available only to Hunt’s Photo Education attendees. We will spend our time exploring the coastal salt marsh community photographing large numbers of both migratory and resident birdlife. The raptors that we most commonly see are red-tailed hawks, ospreys, norther harriers, bald eagles, kestrels and cooper’s hawks. The wading birds include great blue herons, American avocet, American bittern, great egret, lesser egret, and glossy ibis. Shorebirds likely to be seen include: plovers, killdeer, yellowlegs, sandpipers and sanderling. Lastly one can expect to see a variety of pelagic and coastal seabirds.
We will depart from Cape Ann Marina onboard the “Orca” a 26’ twin engine custom built catamaran. We will spend 6 hours at sea during prime light and viewing hours. The trips will be limited to 6 photographers so that your experience is both intimate and personalized. You will have the opportunity to practice and improve your photography skills while enjoying a remarkable experience with exposure to dozens of species in a single trip.

If you are attending this workshop, we will send out more specific instructions to you a few days prior to the workshop. However, be advised we will be meeting at Cape Ann Marina in Gloucester, MA at the time listed. Please note: Some slight details above can be subject to change. This email will detail any of those minor changes.

Please read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up. Also read a note on sea weather below in “Cancellations”.
