Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run.
Birds provide a myriad of opportunities for artistic expression beyond a standard portrait. Whether the photographer utilizes light, negative space or depth of field, capturing a variety of unique compositions can create a visually stunning bird portfolio. In this class, Cameron will explain how to create a thoughtful image that tells a bird’s story. He will share descriptions and image examples highlighting various techniques for becoming a more creative bird photographer.
About Cameron: Cameron Darnell is a 19-year-old wildlife photographer and birder specializing in bird photography. He lives outside of Washington, D.C., and will be attending Williams College in the fall of 2021. Cameron has been birding for as long as he can remember, and began photographing birds at the age of 12. He finds the creative aspect of bird photography thrilling and always strives for the most aesthetic image possible. Cameron has led bird walks in the Mid-Atlantic region, and conducted bird photography workshops throughout the United States. Cameron’s images will be featured in the Spring 2021 issue of the Smithsonian Institute’s publication IMPACT. His images have been honored by the National Audubon Society Photography Awards (Top 100), the Massachusetts Audubon Society Photography Contest (Winner, Youth Division), and the American Birding Association Young Birder of the Year Contest (Winner, Photography Contest). In 2019, he was selected to attend The Cornell Lab of Ornithology Young Birders Event.
