Online: Tips & Tricks for Photographing Kids Inside & Out

May 1, 2020, 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

$20

In response to COVID-19 and recommendations by the CDC of social distancing, Hunt’s Photo Education is presenting our new series of online classes! These courses will be shorter (about 1 hour), online versions of many classes that we currently offer, plus a few new ones, and include Q&A at the end.
Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run.

Let’s face it: Photographing children can be tough work! They have boundless energy, they don’t always listen to instructions, and they do NOT want to stay in one place so that you can take precious photographic memories! This is compounded by how complicated photography can be. And then comes a quarantine order! It’s enough to make a photographer pull their hair out! But we’ve gotta stay cool and calm as child photographers! It has to be fun and childlike to make the experience truly amazing! So how do we do it and where do we start?

Join Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson, who has photographed both of his children every single day of their lives, for some tips and tricks to get the best results possible. This workshop is part of a series that focuses on how to photograph toddlers and children. In this class, we’ll diversify and talk about how to photograph kids indoors and outside, both in a casual environment. Among other items, this class will cover:
•Inside: Using flash vs. natural light
•Lens options and basic settings
•The basics of photographing inside using flash, including starting camera settings
•How to create a natural environment
•Tips and tricks on how to keep toddlers and children interested, involved, & engaged

This workshop primarily deals with working with children aged 2-6 but concepts can be applied to children of any age, including those both young (and old) at heart!

Registering and what is needed
After you register for this class, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email a few days prior to the class time with that same information.

Layout of the class
The class will begin promptly at the time listed. The majority of the class–roughly 1 hour– will be a presentation on the topic, followed by a short Q&A. During the class, you are welcome to type in questions in the Question box on the left hand side of the screen. We will do our best to answer those questions, but if not, feel free to ask them at the end.

“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)
We will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. If handouts and PDFs are included, we will send it out with the link for the video.

Can’t attend the class?
If you can’t attend the class but still want to download the video, no problem: Just sign up for the class! You don’t need to attend and we will send the video and PDF link the next day!

Want to get this class after it’s been run?
If you want to purchase this or any other of the classes we have done, you can certainly do so. Just send us an email at classes@huntsphoto.com and we can send you the invoice. (We prefer having folks in our classes, but this option is available as well if you want to see it!)

Please read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.
