Capture to Print, Featuring Cape Ann

Saturday April 28th at Cape Ann, 8am-5pm

Sunday April 29th at Hunt’s Photo, Melrose 8am-12pm

Recommended prerequisite: Basic knowledge of your camera

All Skill Levels Welcome

Instructors: Guest instructor Bob Ring from New England Photo Workshops & Paul Nelson from Hunt’s Photo Education

Group Size: Limited to 12 attendees

Printing your photos will make you a better photographer. The first step to creating a great print is by understanding how to create a great photograph in the field.
Capture-To-Print is a day and a half of photography, editing and printing! Half photo walk, half editing and printing, we will take you through the whole process–from Capture to Print— to demonstrate what is important in the field, how to effectively process photos, and why printing is a necessity.
In this workshop, New England Photo Workshops & Hunt’s Photo & Video join forces to take folks out for a day on Cape Ann (Gloucester, Rockport & Annisquam), followed the next day with a processing and image review session, and the making of a print for every attendee (13″x 19″) at Hunt’s Photo, Melrose.
The “other Cape” as it’s affectionately known is a wonderful location for walking around for a day with your camera to capture great images. During the day on Saturday we’ll explore the Cape Ann area and study image development and composition along with exposure and getting the best images you can in camera. On Sunday morning at our Melrose classroom, we’ll review some images from all of the attendees and explore various methods of image processing to get the best results from what you “saw” in the field to get a final image ready for printing. Bob Ring will illustrate various techniques using Lightroom, plug-ins and Photoshop as needed to process images.

Some of the techniques we plan to utilize while in the field include:

Exposure
Composition
Metering
Subject Development
Narrow depth of field
Close-up photography
Use of Lenses
Use of Filters (Polarizers & ND)
Creative Thinking
Long Exposures

If you are attending this walk, we will send out more specific instructions to you a few days prior to the walk. Please note: Some slight details above can be subject to change. This email will detail any of those minor changes.
Please read Hunt’s Terms & Conditions before signing up.
