About his photography, renowned editorial photographer and educator Gregory Heisler said, “The eye cannot rest when taking in the depth of Michael Zide’s images. You spend time with them. As the eye moves, the mind wanders then circles back to look some more. Foreground to background; seeing into, around, and through reflections and forms. His enigmatic images are deceptively quiet yet have a dynamic gestural quality, simple yet not so simple. Never one-dimensional, they always relate one thing to something else, visually and metaphorically. They’re carefully considered, fully seen and heartfelt. Always more than what they seem, they force you to think and feel, not just look, and reward you in the process.”
