Beginner Photography

Beginner Photography teaches you the basic camera controls & the “how” and “why” to set those controls. Come and learn how to improve your images and picture taking techniques. Recommended for DSLR users!

Hunt’s Photo Walk: Mt. Auburn Cemetery
Cambridge, MA, May 10th, 8:30am-1pm
Join instructor Don Toothaker for a photo walk in one of Boston’s most beautiful green spaces: Mount Auburn Cemetery. During this walk we will work on use of color, close up/macro photography, use of tripods, depth of field, exposure, use of reflectors/diffusers, and subject development. Lensbabies will be available for use during the walk.

Hunt’s Photo Walk Weekend Workshop
June 6th & 7th
Day 1- Ft. Warren, Boston
Day 2- Hunt’s Melrose
Join instructor Don Toothaker on June 6th & 7th for a unique photo walk & Lightroom editing class. On Saturday, June 6th, Don will lead our photo walk at Fort Warren in historic Boston Harbor. During the walk he will discuss Subject Development, Image Composition, Exposure, Black and White Photography, and Architectural Photography. We will then regroup the following day to review and critique student images and begin the process of editing. This workshop is an excellent opportunity for photographers of any level to work with the process from start to finish.

This course briefly covers the basics questions of printing, including editing suggestions, color management tools and settings, paper styles and finishes, printing recommendations, and troubleshooting for those nasty pitfalls that can occur along the way.

Noted landscape photographer and Amherst resident Michael Zide will share the influences and insights he has gained by working in the field of landscape photography for more than 40 years. He will also provide tips about making better photographs by using the camera and post production and printing techniques in a more “intentional” and creative fashion and describes his talk as “geared for anyone who wants to take their photography to the next level.”
