Puffin Pad Pro – “The Lightweight Alternative to the Bean Bag”
The two images of an American Kestrel on the left and a Cooper’s Hawk on the right were taken with the Puffin Pad Pro below from my car window using a 600mm lens and my car as a blind.
The Puffin Pad Pro is a “really-really” light-weight alternative to the bean bag weighing in at 4.6ounces, measures 7”L, 5 1/2” W and 5” H. The Pad is handmade right here in The United States. It is constructed of sturdy automotive foam on the base and of memory foam on the top and comes with a breakaway tether to secure or carry the Pad.
The Pad can be used on
• The car window as shown above. When the window retracts the cut out straddles most car doors.
• A cut out on the under side fits a 3 1/2 inch fence.
• Any flat surface
• A Frisbee at the beach.
The Pad has been used on safari, in Churchill, Manitoba, in the National Parks among other locations.
So, why the Puffin Pad?
My shooting partner Wayne Bennett and I saw a car go by with a piece of a pool noodle slit length wise on a car window being used as a lens cushion. Great idea except when the window retracts all the way. We said we can do better and the Puffin Pad was born.
